Friends and Fact Checking

I'm looking forward to the visit of my dear friend Nancy today. We've known each other for more than 50 years!

The weekend will include a visits to area knitting stores, perhaps an art-walk (first Sunday) or trip to the Cider Mill, and Nancy and Rick may take a bike ride!

So, I'll be back online Monday.

Meanwhile, I urge you to visit, bookmark and periodically revisit this non-partisan, fact-checking website.

I heard a lot last week in the conventions I knew wasn't so; I'm sure both sides play this game. FactCheck takes on everyone. Fairly.

I have a strong political point of view -- I don't often bring it to the Gypsy because I know you all do too, and while we may or may not disagree, it doesn't really affect the things The Gypsy is about -- which is art, friends, writing, books, entertaining, cooking, life.

But when I hear things I know are incorrect, I feel compelled to remind everyone -- including me -- not to be "sheep" and follow, but to check things out.

When I update my links soon, this one will be on it!

Happy Weekend!

Couldn't have said it better myself! We often are so gullible. I'm going to check out this site now.

I want to visit you so bad and have you teach me how to knit! Oh Jeanie, thank you for that site. I'm all in a tither over this election, like never before. I've never been political, probably because I was raised in DC and know how it all runs in the end. But with all the traveling the hub does and the little bit I do overseas, we can see what a mess this country is in. We can't afford to keep going in the same direction, backwards. I certainly hope people are paying close attention and are listening to the facts, FACTS. xo

Yes it is always best to check out the facts first! I'm definitely getting better at doing that but a reminder is always good, thanks!

Lovely blog you've got here, your cat is adorable and your crafts are excellent, lovely tags and greetings cards. I love the light in your landscape photos too.

You can sign up for emails from them which I've been receiving for a while. Helps me remember to check the website for further information, but the emails themselves contain some if you don't have time to go to the actual webpage at that time. Like you said, as far as I can tell, they seem to be very unbiased about presenting the truth.

How sad it is that we must rely on such an outside source of information for the truth and can't depend upon hearing it from the mouths of those running for office. I've become very cynical about politics and hold little hope that any person, regardless of their party, is or remains truthful and actually caring of the average American once they hold office. I am generally an optimistic person and still hope to be proven wrong in this political opinion.
