Mural Monday: England -- London's Portobello Road 1

Today I'm joining Sami and all at Colourful World's weekly Mural Monday.

Our visit takes us to London's Portobello Road where this image greeted me from a tall building on the corner of Lancaster and Portobello roads.

As always, I marvel how these are done on such tall buildings and the detail work. Can anyone translate what the characters on her hand mean?

You'll find loads of other mural's over at Sami's Colourful World here so check it out!

A stunning mural! Street art really brightens up a city. You will have to let us know if you find out the translation.

We do see murals here, but in nowhere near the profusion in Europe and I am not quite sure why. They can do so much to enliven an otherwise dull cityscape and make downtrodden areas look so much brighter. Now, you are an artist, Jeanie. Perhaps your next challenge is murals. Lansing will never look the same again.

I love to look at wall murals, but only if they exude goodness. Now, I'm wondering what the message is on her hands. Let me know if you ever find out. : ) There is a wall mural in the town I grew up in with a bunch of red roses. Fitting for me, isn't it? But they are all faded, and I think the city should liven them up a bit.

I love the art but have no idea about the symbols used on her hand.

That is an interesting mural. Is it painted on the building or is it on canvas and then put onto the building? Hugs-Erika

I am fascinated by city art such as murals. There are many of them near my home.

Great mural! I love that more and more cities are encouraging wall murals. One of my favorite parts of St Petersburg FL.

Wow, what a great mural! I love street art and there are some interesting murals in my city that I need to get out and photograph. Have a wonderful day Jeanie!

Wow, that mural is gorgeous! I'm also super impressed by large scale murals like that! Such talent! I love how some cities tend to have a lot of murals. I have friends that live in Calgary and they seem to have a lot of murals throughout their city!

WOW...this is beautiful!! I hope they keep it up there! There's not much in the way muruals in our town, but neighboring Sandefjord has them... so much fun, I think! Grafitti can be interesting sometimes, but I really like mural art, and art in public places, like this! :) Happy week, Jeanie ((HUGS))

It has been awhile since we've been to London so I haven't seen this mural. We have seen them in France and yes, it's amazing how they do this. No telling what the message is on her hands! Do tell if you find out. Hope your Easter was as beautiful as the perfect spring day was here.............
