Sometimes there isn't a lot of new to share, especially since I'm trying to lay a little low these days. So I figured I'd look back on the old! Old photos, that is! I thought maybe I'd find a bit of inspiration in some images from years past. And, I thought I'd throw out a recipe or two!
After a hiatus of several months while I was at the lake, my monthly lunch meet-up with two friends from local theater was resumed. This time it was my turn to host and since it was the first day of fall, I thought soup would be good. (They'd bring salad and dessert.) The recipes for Julia's French Onion soup and Rachel Ray's spicy pumpkin soup are both linked here. Both were a hit!
Frustrated by the lack of communication about my IV treatment/hospital appointment, I put on my big-girl pants, went to the doc's office and said I was sitting there till he could talk to me. Turns out I haven't fallen into the black hole -- it's just that 19 people are ahead of me, and he told me it would be very soon. I was good with that.
But I'd done other lab work, and those results came back the next day. It turns out that I have MRSA pneumonia, not pseudomonas pneumonia -- and THAT means I can take oral antibiotics! No hospital, no picc for now! That was the best news ever. Granted, about a month overdue but I'll take it. By the time you read this, I'll be on the mend!
Meanwhile, thank you all for the wonderful get well wishes and support. It's been a very tough go, especially emotionally, and I appreciate that more than I can say.
I've been watching the new episodes of "The Chelsea Detective" (Acorn) and Rick and I just started season three of "Only Murders in the Building." (We're a little behind the curve!) I cut my cable subscription and took up Hulu instead and so far, so good. I'm liking it. I'm still able to follow live news and most other things I liked on cable but also am enjoying the broader selection of movies available. The flat over-the-air antenna I ordered from Amazon has been great and even without the streams, I get a lot of channels I didn't before so no complaints!
And finally, I promised you recipes. Here are the links to the two soups I made for lunch the other day -- Rachel Ray's pumpkin soup and Julia's French Onion soup. (I didn't do the part about grating in the raw onion at the end of the onion soup and just added the cheese and croutons but didn't broil it. It was fine that way.) Both are easy and both are delicious!
l'll have more from my most recent walk at the Ditch next time! I saw the most spectacular event!
