One of the pleasures of blogging is having the opportunity to meet up with bloggers you've known online for years.
This happened with me this week when Annie of Annie Go Lightly and her husband,
Don, came through Lansing.
They couldn't help the weather, which slowed down some of the activities we might have engaged in throughout their stay, but we made the best of it!
Annie and Don had been doing mission work for the Catholic church in the past months,
so one of our stops was Lansing's St. Mary's.
The church is rather old but was remodeled in the 1960s and has a more contemporary look. Still, the stained glass dazzles.
And the statuary and carvings are striking. I particularly liked this one.
We drove past my old school, the Grand River (which cuts through town), the capitol --
and then headed to DeWitt to have pie at Sweetie-licious Bakery and Cafe.
We all loved the pie -- and Don also loved the cherry cupcake! Isn't it cute?
Everything about this spot is cute. And mighty tasty, too!
(And yes, they mail order, too!)
And after all, doesn't pie fix anything? Even the rain?
Well, our rain held up, but next post join us on another round of the Lansing tour!

Oh I would adore that little vintage sweets and coffee shop ~ and DEVOUR that yummy cherry cupcake. So nice to meet blogger friends and share about it !
I'm glad the weather didn't keep you from having a wonderful tour. Of course, ending with pie in such a wonderful place makes it all perfect.
What a nice post (even if i say so myself LOL). If still barely posting these days but have all our adventures lined up amd ready to go.

You look great in the photo - healthy and happy! You are obviously a great hostess and tour guide. Any place that serves great pie and cupcakes is my kind of place.
Sometimes it seems as though pure enjoyment is in short supply, but you certainly look like you found some. My grandmother was a great believer in pie, even as a breakfast food, and though I'm not sure she ever heard the phrase, "Pie fixes everything," I know she would have declared it True!

It looks like you had a very lovely visit and going to the Pie place really topped it off, it seems, including a Cupcake, too.
For me personally, Chocolate Ice Cream Fixes Everything! (lol) But I wouldn't turn my nose up at a Chocolate Cupcake! That is a very charming place.....

What a beautiful church. And, would like to taste the pies and cupcakes at DeWitt, see your old school, the river, do some birding... Lansing is on my list to visit... some day. :)

I love when they combine cafes with antiques. We have one in town that I just found for the first time (at a friend's retirement lunch). But I've got to go back for photos! Such fun!
What a cute little cafe. Pie does fix just about everything... at least while you're eating it. I had a slice of peach last night. Yum!
