Getting in the Spirit

Our Thanksgiving weekend was a terrific one and I'm eager to fill you in -- except that we're still having it! So, before I do, a little more from Gardenviews and town of Northville to put you in the holiday mood! (Cue the music)

This window made me want to buy a pink tree! (I refrained!)

The shop had fun, creative windows....

 .... and pretty decorations...

.... so I did a selfie!

This was a more traditional window.

And so was this!

And I loved the Santa and sheep in this display.

But I tend to be on the more woodland/rustic side of things.

This guy almost made it home with me!

My tree is too small for the huge wicker bells, but I liked them!

This was an elegant tree for those wanting a softer pink look.

Here's a closer look.

But I'm all for the whimsy...

...and the magic!

And I can't resist a good angel. I might have to try my hand at doing one like this!

In the mood yet? Or overloaded too soon?

Because it's almost time to deck the halls!

Although I like the look of the pink trees especially that subtle pink one I am more about sticking with tradition. I like the unique ornaments that my husband and I have collected throughout the years. You certainly got some wonderful Christmasy shots.

They are all pretty in their own way, but I'm with you on the whimsical tree decor. The other white tree with the pink flowers and bulbs takes my breath away though.

This post was a drooler Jeanie. What is it about Christmas trees and holiday decor that makes me (also) want to keep buying them I'm with you about the pink tree. We have a Victorian home in the center of my town, not a huge house, but still it had 5 long windows in the front, 3 upstairs and 2 downstairs. The people who live in it put up a different tree in each window. I would love to do that. Thanks for sharing this fun post. Glad you're having a great holiday weekend also. Hugs-Erika

Hi Jeanie! Oh, I want one (or ten!) of those fuzzy sheep! I love the pink, too, but I am resisting buying another tree. Happy Advent!

I like Santa's figure. I enjoy the various ways he's portrayed , and of course, his carrying a bag with gifts for children.

I did play the music! I am really ready for it this year for some reason. Maybe just need the spirit and joy. :) :)
The colored trees remind me of the late 50s and early 60s when colored flocked trees were so popular--LOL!

I decorate every room in my house with trees, so this really spoke to me. Although I really enjoyed the angel and Santas, I was most impressed with the various trees you showed. How awesome. And I'm impressed you resisted buying some of those ornaments.

You´re so strong! The pink tree sure screams "buy me!!!!"
The Aussies have upside-down (under) trees and sadly(?) I was as strong as you. Now I would love to have such a tree here...

We haven't had a chance to window gaze so thank you for taking me along to look at the decorated shop windows in your town. Lovely Christmas themes are on display. I trust that you had a happy Thanksgiving weekend.

The everyday joys of life will suffice for me, Jeanie, and I will give more than a passing thought to the people of Ukraine literally freezing in the dark.

So many types of decorations. I tend toward the simple handmade ornaments in my home but I do like looking at all kinds.

Honestly? All of that is just too, too much. I know you enjoy it, so I'm glad the season of decorated shops has rolled around for you, but a simple tree decorated with meaningful ornaments does just fine for me. A pink Christmas tree? Ghastly!

These are all so pretty!!! I love all of it, the whimsy and the pink tree and the traditional scenes too.

And I have a little fox like that! So cute!

As fun as the pink tree is I agree with sticking with the traditional and then let the beauty of the ornaments shine.

Looks great. I am reminded of the Christmas store in Frankenmuth and how magical it was a to visit one summer. And now I am also reminded of the chicken (Zenders?). It may have been 30-35 years since I was there, and I wonder if Frankenmuth is still the same.

Oh, this town looks so charming, Jeanie. I was drawn to the traditional window, as much of my Christmas decor is traditional from years past. I also loved the whimsical decorations shown here, as I have lots of whimsical stuff around the house too. Such a cute photo of the boys putting the ornaments on the tree. Yes, it's a magical season for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing YOUR holiday decor around the house. You have some wonderful creative ideas as well.

I could easily resist buying any of these things (except for the little fox perhaps, s/he's darn cute). Pink trees? Who came up with that?

Divers and Sundry said...

I love all those trees. I can speak well of a pink tree, as I bought a little 2' pink tree at an antique mall and love it. It has silver balls and tinsel and makes me smile whenever I see it.

Deck the Halls season is here :)

Christmas is my favorite holiday, and the days leading up to it are my favorite time of the year. These were great shots. I've seen pink and purple Xmas trees in the windows here in Braga, too. But, like you, refrain . . . I think they look better in shop windows than they would in the livingroom.

Jeanie, I love seeing the windows adorned for Christmas. Butch and I have made several trips to New York City in early December, and one my my favorite things were the amazing window displays. Macy’s and Lord and Taylor were always my favorites. Thank you for sharing the magic!

Beautiful photos Jeanie. Years ago my daughter had a white tree with some large fluffy pink baubles on it, it looked lovely. I plan to get the Christmas decorations down from the loft this weekend. I think I will get a real tree this year.

Such beautiful eye-candy! That’s exactly why I prefer small town shopping and shopping at the smaller stores vs the malls and big box stores. That angel is lovely.
