Travel Break: Fun Mail!

I love it when I get good mail! And I was delighted when this arrived!

Yes, I was the winner of Life Imitates Doodles blog drawing! Two Hahnemuhle sketchbooks, a set of pens and the cutest little paper clips you ever saw! Of course, I started checking out the pens right away!

I also went a little wild on Amazon and ordered some roving for felting! Soft, lovely, luscious merino wool! It looks a mess now, but it came in nice tidy skeins or packaging!

So of course, I made a penguin. Still don't have the beak quite right, but I'm pretty happy!  And here's Sad Bunny again. I'll be sharing his little girlfriend soon!

More felties to come!

Real mail is always a pleasure. It happens so rarely these days. I still have a couple of distant friends with whom I communicate with real mail by mutual agreement. I remember the days when airmail envelopes had their own colour theme and it was exciting to receieve mail from other parts of the world with foreign postage stamps. I fear that very soon actual mail will become but a memory for those of us old enough to remember, and an historical relic for thise who have never used it. When I was young and wrote to someone I made sure my penmanship was on form and took pride in composition. Somehow email is not quite the same. I realize that what you received was not personal mail, but I am sure it was nevertheless very agreeable - apart from the contents of your prize.

Can't think of a more deserving crafter to win that drawing.

I saw a felted bunny in a store recently and thought of you. It was only 6 or 7 inches tall and they wanted $15 for it. Is there a conspiracy underway, trying to hook me in to trying my hand at felting? Can't waiting to see your bunnies reproduce.

Nice winnings. Now I've never worked with roving but your bunny came out great. I've only done felting by knitting oversized items and then washing them so the yarn felts. I think you must create this directing from the wool. There's so many fascinating things out there, isn't' there? Happy Sunday. Hugs-Erika

Sad Bunny needs company. I'm anxious to see his girlfriend. I plan on doing quilting next Winter. With my gardening and visitors in the Summer, time is limited. Happy Spring.

Being a bunny person, I want sad bunny to be happy again. I love getting snail mail. My friend, Mary, sends me notes and letters sometimes. Occasionally, she recycles a card I sent to her with a new note on it. I like reading what I wrote years ago, and what she is adding to our conversation. We’ve been thinking of Rick.

I do so love snail mail though it is had to find people that will post a letter these days. They won't even write emails and rather post DMs on FB or something similar. Hmm..Oh well, I'm glad you got a parcel and that you are enjoying your felting experience.

Congratulations on your win. This is a wonderful gift and those paper clips must be a hoot (or an oink).

I'm super impressed with your felting. I covered a bar of soap with felt roving, but that's as much as I've accomplished. Yours is impressive.
