It's the most wonderful time of the year! Well, I think so, anyway!
This past weekend I began decking my halls. It's such fun to pull out the ornaments, trees, decorations. They are old friends who have been away for a long while. Now they are back where they belong!
This is the first ornament on the tree. It is the only ornament from my Mom's family tree. I don't know how old it is, but it's old -- held together with wire in parts. And I cherish it.
I have few photos of my parents' holidays when they were children. None of my dad, I think. This one is mom, two of her sisters and her little brother. He didn't see many Christmases. I like to think that somewhere on that fuzzy tree is this special beaded ornament.
I'm looking forward to sharing the holidays with you! Let the festivities begin!

I'm beginning to think that Christmas is about memories. I pull my mother out of the Christmas box every year. I especially love the oldest and most memory-laden ornaments, even as they show wear over the years.
Was there to be another photo? I see just the ornament. It sounds as if you meant to load one of your mom, sisters and brother.
Jeanie, you are so right: the holidays are such a significant time for reconnecting with everything and everyone that has been important to us.
LOVE the ornament you look for first every year, and it looks well-loved, too. So glad you found the picture of your mother & her siblings -- beautiful picture. I'm with you: bet that ornament was hanging on the tree behind them.
So happy to be following this season with you...
precious photo and memories Jeanie...it is a wonder how Christmas' past waft out of the ornament boxes...a most magical time
I am still wrapping my mind around that it is DECEMBER!

You are way ahead of me, but I will be pulling those memories out soon. How great that you have those old holiday pictures.
I love the photo of your mom's family. I agree with you about this season being so full of memories and I love that they come pouring out when we see special ornaments or make family recipes. The festivities have begun!
What a darling Christmas photo- the way they're lined up, the hair, the not quite perfect tree, the doll in the background.
Such a beautiful post. This is why I love blogging. It's the sharing that makes the connection.
I don't have any of my childhood ornaments, but we have my husband's. They're beautiful. I put them in an old compote that belonged to his mother and we put some on the tree.
The photo of your mother and her siblings is wonderful. It's like walking back in time. Thank you for sharing it.

I won't be putting up my stuff for a few weeks yet, I'm not a Christmas fan...too much hustle & bustle & expectations and mess. I am, hoewver, a fan of old pictures, and how special that one is!
That is such an unusual ornament, Jeanie. In fact, unique. We are busy around here too, not going fast enough it seems. More to do tomorrow.
What a lovely treasure to have one from your mom. Great picture too.
Oh the photo is amazing! Even a little bassinet? Maybe for a doll ...
