Things are on the upswing here as my friend Suzanne visits this weekend. But I thought I'd pop in the last of the home decorating pix. I'll start with this amaryllis from Trader Joe's. $7.95 and it has given me five huge blooms, still going after several weeks. I'd never seen a pink and white one before! Decorating and I didn't have to do a thing except put it on the table!
And these flowers, sent by dear friends, are still going strong -- perfect Christmas colors!
I mentioned that Rick was going to help me decorate the big tree! We got it done. Now I'm happily enjoying evenings surrounded by holiday lights!
This tree is basically my autobiography. Pretty much everything on it was something from a friend, something purchased when traveling, things made by me and others, memory pieces and things dating back to my parents' tree. The things that were "bought" were purchased by me because I liked them!
Standing guard at the top is the turkey my friend Andy made when helping me with a puppetry class in grad school. Andy didn't make it through the year after a long cancer battle so I'm glad he's still with me on the tree.
Also in the living room I added some lights by the computer. In the foreground are a few ornaments from House of Hatton designed by Vaughan and Stephanie Rawson (aka "The Whimsical Whittler," whom I wrote about in this post called "A Magical House" many moons ago. (If you go back to this post, know that I tried to edit so the font and photos were like my current posts, but it was in 2009 and blogger wouldn't let me do that!) The large Santa was a purchase I couldn't resist! And I haven't yet killed the geraniums I'm trying to winter! There's a hutch in this part of the room too and things inside change through the seasons. This year I couldn't manage to bring up everything. (And I really didn't need to.) Father Christmas can hang out with the Royal Doultons.
My small collection of sheep shares space with a another Father Christmas from Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
Artist Linda Wonser's cute felted snowman is spending time in the "woods" with yet another Father Christmas.
Little Hummel Girl is enjoying a holiday book under the tree. Perhaps a cup of tea, too?
We are decked for the holidays! Now, I must get ready to do a little Christmas shopping! I have a ride, a shopping companion and a Visa card. Onward!
It's a winter world where I am. I hope you are having safe, holidays and if it is cold outside, you are cozy within!

...Jeanie, you sure have decked the halls, I'm a bit behind. You Phyllis Amaryllis is a beauty. Our first one is just breaking bud.
Wow, a winter wonderland indoors. Flowers, even. Are you done now??
You house looks gorgeous Jeanie. And you tree came out great. My tree is the same thing; it's a biography of Christmas and my life. I even have an ornament I made in kindergarten and he gets put right on the front of the tree. :) I didn't take out any of my Santas this year; it was time for a bit of a change up, but maybe next year I'll want to put them back. Have fun shopping and thanks for the holiday smiles. hugs-Erika
Jeanie, you are an amazing decorator. I love your Christmas trees, the Santas and all the Christmas figures and the flower is beautiful. It is cold and snowy here! Take care and stay warm.
Have a wonderful week ahead.
I don't see how anyone could ask for more for seasonal decorations. Happy shopping to you and your Visa.
Your holiday decor is just marvelous. That pink and white amaryllis is stunning. Trader Joe's always has the best flower deals. I love that your main tree is essentially your autobiography; having Andy's turkey puppet at the top is such a touching way to keep his memory close.
Hello Jeanie,
Well, there are no shortages of Father Christmases at your house. Indeed, is there room for the real one to arrive down the chimney.....or will he sledge to the front door on a sleigh given your snow? Whatever, the festive spirit is obviously very much alive with you...but such a lot of hard work on Twelfth Night:(:(
Dear Jeanie, I live alone so I don't bother to decorate for myself, but I absolutely love to see Christmas decorations and snow photos, and all your photos here and how you have decorated for Christmas has truly touched my heart! Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend! Beautiful!!!
A home filled with light, memory, and affection, where every decoration tells a personal and joyful story
The amaryllis is beautiful! I love a memory tree, Jeanie. Like you said it is your autobiography. I love your Hummel girl, I have a collection and love their sweet faces.
Oh my goodness Jeanie, you have decorated your home beautifully! Pretty snow photo! We had snow overnight but it wasn't very much. Supposed to be a bit blustery and I can't tell whether it's snowing again or just coming off the trees. Have a happy week and stay warm.
Wow! You are beautifully decked out and ready for the holidays.
Hope your shopping goes well.
All the best Jan
PS Beautiful winter-world in your last photograph
Your decor is beautiful. Our tree is like yours, filled with memories, and precious ornaments from my childhood. The picture of your yard makes me a little jealous. I'm praying we get snow this year!
You decked the halls for sure. I have never seen a pink amaryllis either. So pretty. Janice
All just lovely and so joyful! Your big tree is fantastic. Enjoy your shopping!
I love the bird on top, it made me laugh.
You sound amazingly ready and full of energy for shopping and whatever else over these next days that will bring you to Christmas. It is fun to see your several Father Christmases and your big tree, and sheep -- and everything!
The sheer number of Christmas trees in your house astounds me every year!
Your halls are definitely decked! It's great to have all of those special pieces. I gave away/donated all of my Christmas stuff when we left the US, so I've made more through the years and people have gifted me with some. And Bill and I get a small snowman most years. We don't have a tree but I hang things in windows and around the house. We've rarely been in the same place for more than one Christmas since we've been in Ireland so every year I'm deciding where to put stuff. Anyway, I'm glad you got your decorating done and can now enjoy! Happy festive Monday!
Looks like you are well underway, Jeanie. Our usual subdued sameness required no effort at all!
Our tree is covered with decorations from our almost fifty years of being together. It makes me so happy to look at each ornament and remember.
Little Hummel girl reminds me of you:) Great meaningful decor Jeanie:) Good for you.I keep our tree and mantel done till mid Jan at least:) the lights create such a nice calming ambiance:)
I always look forward to seeing your decorations at Christmas. It amazes me how much you can fit on your "autobiography" tree. What wonderful memories. And then the little pictures on the small tree in the bathroom is so precious. I love the little teapot with kitties and watching Santa. The soft pink amaryllis makes me wish I got one this year. I will have to check and see if Trader Joe's still has some. So happy you had help decorating. It all looks just wonderful. xoxo m
The amaryllis is beautiful! .. You have some lovely Christmas decor Jeanie. Some wonderful treasures to enjoy. Christmas decorations are so fun and festive. Enjoy.🎄
Ah, Jeanie, it all looks lovely! And I love your bathroom tree!! I do believe I now need to do a bathroom tree as well; I have some little memories that would be perfect for such a tree and I think the little tree Mike had in his last apartment (2020 through last Xmas he put it up, 2023) will fit perfectly. Lots of Love, my friend. Dawn P. Albany, GA
The best part of this post is this: "I have a ride, a shopping companion and a Visa card. Onward!" Getting out and about again, despite some limitations, has to be a wonderful gift!
Seriously I don't know where to start. Everything looks so pretty. You have a lot of decorations that have memories in each one. Thank you for sharing all the beauty.
Just beautiful. I love it.
I'm glad you have a ride and a shopping companion! Hurrah! Your house looks so fun and festive. It's a sensory delight to see all the decor sprinkled throughout your home!!
Beautiful! I love that turkey on top of the tree and the memory of your friend, who made it. The flowers are gorgeous, too.
Love seeing all your decorations!! A memory tree is what it is. That is so cool! Enjoy your shopping trip. :)
It's an enchanted world you've created in your home -- and the vignettes are lovely, but I suspect they do not do justice to the overall effect. I love the bathroom tree! Why didn't I ever think of that?
Have a wonderful time shopping! Merry Christmas!
Great deal for eight bucks.
I love your tree and the decorations. I hope you stay warm and have a nice week.
Your tree is gorgeous. So full... Must Take forever to put away.. Love the turkey!
Looks like you are all decorated or....is there more????
I can't imagine why you couldn't get any more on the big tree!!!
What a pretty tree and decorations. Very Christmas-y there. Love it! Enjoy your holidays.
Wonderful how Andy and his turkey get to look down on you all during the holiday season. It's a lovely tribute.
So lovely Jeanie, and perfect for the holiday season. Love all your flowers....
Your tree is beautiful! Our tree is the same way. I have ornaments from when I was a kid since my mom and step father bought us a special one each year then we continued that tradition with our boys. Plus we tend to pick up ornaments on vacations. I love all the memories our ornaments bring up.
Oh my goodness, yes decked out. Love all the memory pieces.
Jeanie your tree is fabulous and so endearing with all your mementos. I love all your decorating because of all the nostalgia. Great job. Merry Christmas
Brilliant and gorgeous! That big Christmas tree is truly an autobiography as you say, and I love all the little Christmas tableaus...
Jeanie, your house looks so festive and warm!
The combination of lights, flowers, and memory ornaments makes it feel like Christmas magic in every corner. ✨🎄
Lovely, cheerful decos.
Beautiful flower and tree. Bitter-sweet Turkey. I´m sorry you lost your friend.
Cute sheep! To happy times!
Your christmas tree looks absolutely great. I really like that the ornaments have sentimental value and tell your story.
What a merry christmas with all the decorations. It must be like being in another world, the world of Santa Claus.
You certainly are decking the halls!! That amaryllis looks like the variety Apple Blossom, I have had several of those. I love the pretty pink and white.
Very festive! I hope Christmas shopping proves to be fun, too.
So beautiful.. All your decorations 👌
Oh Jeanie, you know how much I love your Christmas decorating posts. You used a lot of red and white, and these colors are my favorite to deck the halls with, along with silver. Your main tree is wonderful with the colored lights, and how special that topper is that your dear friend made for you. You have a little part of him on the top of your tree. Your sheep collection is cute. I've never seen that Hummel girl before. I absolutely LOVE the Hummels. Your mantel really caught my eye with the red and white, and that wreath is so pretty. The whole scene looks so Christmassy, and you can keep it up for the winter season. And lastly, your snowy woods are beautiful. We should get snow right after Christmas, and I look forward to that. Thank you for sharing your Christmas inside with us, Jeanie. It all looks so merry and bright.
