I am SO ready for a break! Last week was a bit of a zoo (and this one is, too). Mostly all good stuff, but still, sometimes enough is enough!
The sale ended up being pretty successful. But I confess, I'm wondering if I'm getting a little old for this! We had great vendors, a lovely time and it was wonderful to see many people come and love the work -- mine and that of my fellow artists. But it was good to get it over.
I was so tired when I got home, I could barely get my inventory into the house. Fortunately, Rick took over and made a wonderful dinner for us. I was never so grateful! After we had a Scrabble game and then a good, long sleep!
Earlier in the week I had a few visitors. I think they may have been running from the butcher's ax! 'Tis the season that turkeys need to watch out! There were seven in my yard, having hopped over the back fence.
After a bit of a walk-about, they hopped onto the side fence...
... and with a flying leap, made it over the fence and went across the road. I wish them well.
I mentioned I was having tree work done and Brad the Tree Guy came last Thursday. He was amazing.
I swear he was in the circus in a previous lifetime, being one of those high-flying trapeze artists or tightrope walkers!
I am not a climber. Hats off to him for taking care of the bad branch, another affecting my ginkgo tree, some perilously close to wires and a lot of branches hanging low on the roof. Hopefully it saves some shingles!
Rick made it home safely after the cottage work. All is well and done, buttoned up for the season. We made it to our university's production of "Othello," which we learned about in the class we attended the week before. It was a very good production but long! (Shakespeare never was short-winded!)
Time to start thinking about Christmas decorating!
I might have a head start!

Glad to read that the sale went well, Jeanie, and the felties look so nice on that little tree. No decorating here yet until after Thanksgiving. Tree trimmers are a wonder to watch in action.
That's understandable. Shows are fun but then it's really, really nice when it's over too. Love that he made supper.
Brad is a hero! He must have velcro on the souls of his boots.
Your tree ornaments are wonderful, I hope you got a fair price for them, I know how much time it takes !
You can relax now, for a few days. lucky the turkeys got away!
Your roast chicken looks scrumptious. Lovely photos. Enjoy a restful time.
There comes a time when you need to consider how much energy to put into labor intensive events. I did my last solo exhibit, 30 pieces, in my late 70s. Now it's very occasional participation in a group show. That's enough! Even attending the opening is a lot.
I'm glad your day went well.
So many maintenance issues — tree trimming, gutter cleaning, leaf blowing, furnace inspection, snow shoveling, grass mowing, hedge clipping… Now my head is swimming.
So pleased that the sale went well.
The dinner Rick prepared looks very tasty.
I like your tree ornaments ... I'm planning on getting the Christmas decor out the last weekend of November!
All the best Jan
...being a tree climber was never in the cards for me. God meant for both of my feet to be planted on the ground!
You took part in a lovely event. I don't know how much you sell, but i know that having someone appreciate your work enough to purchase something is very validating.
I don't do well with heights, but my grandson just got certified (at the high school level) for Carpentry at heights. There was a better name, of course.
I have been told that wild turkeys are good to eat, but I don't have much inclination to find out. No one in my clan even does 'real' turkeys anymore. 😊
I'm so happy to hear about your successful art sale and your healthy head start on Christmas decorating! And good for you, getting some proactive tree trimming work done -- you'll be glad you did when the next windstorm hits. Those turkeys! So comical! Glad you got to see Othello, but I'd really like to hear about these theater classes you've mentioned; are they all geared toward current productions at MSU?
And now? Maybe a well-deserved day or two to sleep and read and putter in the kitchen, Miz Lizzie in close attendance, before the Thanksgiving onslaught begins? I sure hope so!
You have been busy! How wonderful to come home to that lovely dinner.
Your turkeys reminded me of our year of the pheasants. We live on the edge of town and a wealthy businessman purchased about 200 acres of undeveloped land with a pond. He built a weekend "cabin" in the middle of it and has hunting parties. I think they are more party than hunting. Meanwhile one year he got ahold of a zillion pheasants and raised them for the hunt. Again, I don't think there was much hunting. The pheasants migrated to toward the highway and many went to pheasant heaven. Some of the ones that survived that made it to my neighborhood. They would come up on my porch and couldn't figure out how to get through the rail and were too dumb to turn around and exit the way they came. We would have to shoe them out! I have a great photo somewhere of my husband smoking our Thanksgiving turkey while a pheasant is standing near his chair watching. It was several years before all the pheasant population left.
I think you might miss doing the show if you stopped. I love your little snowman in the first picture. How nice Rick was able to feed you and close up the cottage by the lake too. And the tree guy! What a wonderful thing to have done. I know when I had a big tree hanging over our house, I always worried.
Making things is fun, but it would take a lot of the fun out of it for me to transport my creations elsewhere and show them. I was already kind of tired when I read your post and it increased my fatigue ;-) Rest up now!
Shows can be tiring-hoping you had lots of sales though. we soooo need a tree guy here, but most want a thousand dollars to cut a dead tree down-nope
Of course your sale went well, I expected nothing else :-)
And I can imagine one is tired after that! Yay to Rick, hence. The chicken looks good.
I´ve seen a turkey for real - crazy to have seven in the garden. And wow to your Tree Guy.
Christmas deco is up since years here ;-)
Just few. Well, hope you can relax a bit!
Hello Jeanie,
I am glad you had a good but busy week. I just love your felt art, they are all so cute. Your tree guy did a good job, I would be dizzy high up there in the tree top. Take care, enjoy your day!
Those sales can be exhausting, that’s for sure. I remember when Miriam used to do craft sales regularly, the preparation and the takedown was a lot of work. Thank goodness that St. Rick was there to welcome you home and pamper you back to a semblance of normalcy.
Glad the sale went well and that Rick is home! That sort of tree work definitely requires great skill. Hope your week is going well so far.
Vending shows is hard work. I know as we use to do 6 antique shows per year until covid hit. Then all stopped and we never got back into it again. Glad your show went well. Also glad your tree got trimmed. I once had a huge maple branch almost hit my car that came down. We took the whole tree down then and glad we did. It was rotting from the inside out. Janice
I am so glad you had a great sale. I love your creations! The snowman is adorable along with all the other felt art.
Time to rest! Those sales can be tiring.
The turkeys were a hoot! Or should I say a Gobble!
Happy Thanksgiving my friend.
Congratulations on the very successful craft/art sale.Kudos! I remember when I worked..and I came home and a meal had been prepared.It smelled like heaven..He still makes a few dinners..But I am home also..so that..OMGEE dinner's ready after a long day..is less:)But still so appreciated:)Happy TG Jeanie.
I am so glad the show was successful, but I know there was tiring work involved! Happy to see Rick made it home and prepared a lovely dinner. Turkeys are fun to watch, they will fly but are not very graceful looking in flight. There are always things that need upkeep around a home. Take care of yourself, Jeanie!
We gave up on the weekend type markets a few years ago. All that work just to take it back down again in a few days wasnt worth it and it was exhausting. I am glad to hear that your sales were good though! The dinner looks delicious, and well earned.
Oh, I know what you mean about having booths, and all the inventory that comes back home. Thankfully, I was able to sell a bit more with my online sample sale, but I still have things left. Several people will be getting gifts of fall table toppers this week!
Glad the sale went well Jeanie. I've done a a couple of craft fairs in the past, and I know how much work they are, so kudos for sticking with it. Good thing you don't have to decide right now about next year. And maintenance is always such a hassle but needs to be done, right? Glad your tree situation has gone well. At my house, it is all about cleaning. Hope you're relaxing a bit amongst all the activity. hugs-Erika
Jeanie...I know the feeling of "tired"...I find myself not being able to go at the speed I used to be able to do. LOL But that is ok...give yourself permission to rest. I have had to tell myself that many time. How nice that Rick made it back with the assurance that all is well at the lake...and what a wonderful surprise that dinner was ready and it looks so good. I never tire of roast chicken or fried chicken or really any kind of chicken now that I think about it. LOL. The Captain bought a larger spray washer and removed all the gunk that tends to accumulate on our driveway and walk. It feels so good when something like that gets done as I am sure you feel the same way about your tree trimming. Have a great week.
You have been busy! I hope the sale was super successful. I am glad Rick could help with the unloading and made dinner so you could put your feet up! You've had a lot of health challenges this year so I am not surprised that you feel so wiped out. It's hard enough for a person to just hold it together when you aren't feeling well - add in a big event with lots of time on your feet and socializing w/ customers and that will take its toll. I would like to prescribe you lots of time spent resting and relaxing. Doctor's orders! :)
Those craft sales are a lot of work, I still can remember how tired I would be afterwards. Fun, but exhausting. Looks like it went really well.
Got a kick out of the pics you got of your visitors jumping the fence--lol!
There will always be jobs for people who aren't afraid of heights. Wow!
You were off to see Othello, too--no wonder you need a break!
I'll be looking forward to seeing your Christmas decorations. :)
I'm glad your sale went well Jeanie, and that you had a good long sleep afterwards. I resonate with how you were feeling. I can't cope with heights anymore. Your story about the turkeys made me smile, are they wild ones that just roam around? Take care x
I understand what you mean. I get tired so easily these days! Still, it's so much fun to be around others. It sounds like the sale was fun.
It is a full, satisfying stretch—art, repairs, theatre, and a safe homecoming—all nudging you gently toward the sparkle of Christmas ahead
Well done on the art sale, you had some very pretty things there. Strikes me that being very tired might be ALMOST worth it if it persuades someone to make a great dinner like the one Rick did. He's so good at so much! And thanks for the photos of the turkeys, it's always good to see wildlife going about their lives,
Glad your sale went well. It is a lot of work and how wonderful Rick made dinner. Tree work is hard work that is why it is expensive. We had some done this spring.
Cathy
I'm glad the sale went well. When I was younger I did 2 shows a week for a year. Then we hit the road I did art shows all of the country. Now, I can barely get a yard sale up and going. LOL Good for you.
It sounds exhausting but also really rewarding. I’m glad the sale went well and that you had Rick there to take care of you after such a long day.
Wow, what a week! It sounds like a whirlwind of good chaos! So glad you got some well-deserved rest and time with Rick. Hope your Christmas decorating is as fun and festive as your week!
Lovely week, although busy. Sometimes it is nice just to sit back, read a good book and relax. However, life often takes over.
I always find it so fascinating to watch the tree guys; that would NOT be the job for me. I'm glad the sale went well but I do remember how tiring those days can be. We've been seeing lots of turkeys too.
I'm completely taken with your turkeys! I've seen only a few in my lifetime, and they're generally visible only for seconds in a field or on a roadside. Then, poof! they're gone. I'm glad the sale went well, and I'm especially glad you can rest well through the winter, knowing the cottage is safely buttoned up. Like others, I'm both amazed and aghast at that tree guy. How they do that is beyond me, but I'm glad they do!
I love that snowman you made, so cute! Wow, the turkeys are amazing. I hope you have a nice weekend and a happy Thanksgiving.
Glad the sale went so well and the tree work is done! Great photos of the turkeys, too. I miss seeing turkeys in the wild. We used to get them in Florida but needless to say they are scarce on the ground in London!
Yay! That is great news the sale went well.
Neat turkey and tree man photos. Watch out for turkeys as well because they aren’t nice birds. I think they know what Thanksgiving does for their numbers. The way food prices are, they are probably being thought of as free food roaming the streets.
Wishing you and Rick much rest
May
I think maybe Shakespeare didn't have to compete with a lot of modern distractions like getting out before the traffic, the late news on the tele at home, the phone or even electric lighting so he could afford more waffle.
I love your little snowman in the first photo.
I'm glad you did well at the art show, Jeanie. I bet those felties were sure a hit! I noticed your little ladybug, she's so sweet. Oh, how I miss seeing those turkeys. They used to come in groups at my old neighborhood, just walking along and visiting. I love that photo of the turkey and snow on the ground. Glad to hear you had some work done on your trees and branches, and it's wise to get them away from the wires. Looking forward to seeing your Christmas decorating, Jeanie.

Way to go, Brad. Glad your fair was successful. Now you can rest.
The turkeys are the cutest. Putting out the Christmas decos is a job, but it brings great pleasure once it is done.
You are such a creative, busy lady. I've slowly dropped many activities over the years, but enjoy your vicariously.
a lot of work goes into preparing for a show like that, i am so happy to hear it went well. isn't it wonderful to come home from a lovely day, and smell dinner cooking, it looks amazing...i love when my husband cooks for me!! it is so ambitious of rick to take on the tree work...he looks so high up!!
How lovely it was a big success! But I can totally understand how it might be both nice ánd very busy and tiring. I love how your husband took over when you got home so you could rest!
I am glad the sale was successful. Turkeys are tougher than I have expected.
So glad to hear the sale went well though bummed I missed it. I really hope you'll be in it again next year and that I'll be in town for it, Jeanie. Those turkey action photos and tree ornament photos are too good!
I am so happy your sale went well! Wonderful. oh the Turkey is huge! Your meal looks absolutely delicious and i am so happy you had an eventful week! :) Many blessings!
Oh I've got a guy that loves to climb trees and head up to the rooftops. He's doing it less and less as he gets older and that makes me happy!
Thanksgiving blessings to you, friend. You bring so much energy and fun into our lives!
Hello Jeanie :)
I'm so sorry I'm late commenting, I have also had a busy week. I have never done a sale, only bought things and beautifully made things that I really appreciate. Your felties are so cute, and i'm sure they sold well. They look lovely on your tree. It must have been nice to come home to a cooked dinner, after a tiring time at the sale. Where I live we don't see turkeys roaming wild, it is strange to me that they go into peoples gardens, and don't seem afraid especially at this time of year!! On the 1st of December I will start decorating our tree. It takes me two days to put all the baubles on, and ofcourse I put loads of birds on as well.:)
Take care and take it easy now.
All the best
Sonjia.
Craft/art shows ~ consume a lot of energy ~ glad it went well and what hubby to cook such a great meal for you ~ hugs,

I LOVE this post, glad to find you, LeeAnna at not afraid of color
I'm very happy that you shared this post today with FFO. Have a lovely weekend.
Dear Jeannie,
This really looks like a busy week - I hope you could rest after it for a while!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment from November 8th — and sorry it took me a little while to get back to you!
I had no idea you lived so relatively close to David. (But in the US when I'm right informed?) What a pity… we might really have arranged something!
About the post with the murals: you wrote, “What a long and fantastic journey you have had! So many places, so many people!”
We did indeed have a long journey this year (to Canada, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam), but that mural post was created before the trip — and all those painted houses are actually in Vienna 😊. Only the artists come from many different corners of the world. A kind of “travelling in a different way,” so to speak.
If you’d like to see some first impressions of our actual journey, I’ve just posted an overview on my blog.
Wishing you all the best, and a happy weekend!

Glad the sale went well -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
I'm glad you had a successful sale. Yes, they can be exhausting, I remember that well from the time when I still did those events. I'm quite glad that I don't anymore. Having Rick welcoming you with such a fine dinner is a real plus. Keep him!
Sometimes there are turbeys in my front yard and I don't like that at all since they tend to make quite a mess. They have a good life here, no one is allowed to catch them, so they have a free ride. I do love seeing them running along our street, just not in my garden. Good thing too that your tree work is done.
Have fun with your Christmas decorating, I know that you love it.
Congratulations on a successful sale, Jeanie! I'm glad to hear that Rick returned home safely and that your cottage is ready for winter. The turkeys were great fun! It must have been interesting to watch the arborist at work. We have a big linden tree to deal with in the spring. 🤞 I would love to see "Othello," even if it is long. Kudos to Rick for taking good care of you. Enjoy your week. All the best. ❤️
Good work on your sale! You must be happy to get those trees down. I fear for winds.
You make so many pretty things for your art show! I know everyone is happy to see you there!
Hello Jeanie,
It is cool you saw the wild turkeys in your yard. I hope they stay safe crossing the roads. I mentioned before, I love your cute felties, the snowman is adorable. I am glad your sale went well!
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
So happy the sale went well! It's the best feeling when you walk in exhausted and someone makes dinner.
I am thinking of Christmas too. Now I'm in Ukraine and I wanted to make Christmas cards for the volunteering places, so we had a xmas photo session with Volya. It's been fun and I can't wait for her first Christmas in the UK.
Glad to hear that your art show/sale was a success. It is a rude awakening when we realize we just don't have the energy for some of the things we used to do! Wow those are a lot of turkeys visiting your yard. Is that snow??? Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Nice to have turkeys in the yard, and that dinner looked so scrumptious. Lucky you! Wishing you a lovely Thanksgiving.
How cool you had all those turkey visitors! And I am glad that your sale was successful. :) Rick's dinner looks delicious!!
