It completely freaks me out that Easter is almost here! Two dear friends birthdays passed me by and I realized that today is officially spring, at long last! I sort of feel like I've been living under a rock!
It has been a good -- if busy -- month. Work on the basement persists, the next proof of my book has come and been returned with corrections and we had a great weekend with the grands. All good. The cataract surgery is back on the schedule and physical therapy proceeds well. I had a lovely belated birthday lunch out with my friend Kate on one of the nicest of days. There are even a few bunnies around the house!
Rick and I also had the pleasure of going to hear Chasten Buttigieg, husband of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, speak at MSU and attended a private reception after. He was speaking about the importance of the arts in education and in life. As a theatre major and former teacher who worked with autistic youth, he knew well the impact of theatre and the arts on a young person's life.
He also spoke on LGBTQ issues and how critical it is to accept people as they are, particularly when they are young. Growing up in a conservative area (in up-north Michigan) he had first hand experience at the challenges of being "something no one could talk about." Even though things have improved significantly since then -- at least in a lot of areas -- there is much that needs to be done as our world moves forward. It was a terrific evening. (I would like to think that I have met the future First Husband of the President of the United States. It won't be this election, but I hope someday.)
We have seen signs of spring, though right now are in a temperature drop after a warm (70 degree!) spell. My mini-daffs and dwarf iris have popped.
A small posy bouquet with a couple of lambs and my Vintage by Crystal spring people make me smile.
The lambs are a new addition. Those little "girls" are too cute for words. I wish I'd made them!
And when the daffs got droopy, they were replaced by some pretty tulips!
I mentioned there is a bit of Easter in the house. But not a lot. I did get the Easter egg tree up. Some of these eggs date back sixty years to when my mom and I would make eggs together. Others have been purchased or made later. I was glad I could rescue box of things from the basement!
I didn't unearth the second tree, but these are some of my favorite eggs, and that was what mattered this year!
Bunnies and eggs. A good combo, no?
There are a few real-life bunnies, too. So far, my outside count is six (though to be honest, it is probably one or two of the same seen at different times!). The inside ones stay put!
Peter Rabbit is in residence, of course!
And so, too, are blooms wherever I can find them. Here they are in a sweet Emma Bridgewater vase. (I'm waiting for the "real" lilies of the valley but these will do for now!)
And finally, spring is showing up in the neighborhood, too -- the forsythia isn't blooming yet but there are buds so it can't be long!
And at the Ditch, I'm seeing nest building for the geese, along with a few who like to sample the grasses by the sidewalk.
It has taken a long while...
... but spring is here at last

Over here today (Wednesday) is officially Spring (but I celebrated yesterday with all of you! :-)...)
Oh, yes, one day a president can be man, woman, whatever they feel like and have a partner who is simply accepted!
I do believe in peoples acceptance.
Easter-eggs. Yes, when I was little...
To Spring!!
Happy Spring Jeanie!
I love all your pretty Easter decorations, especially the cute bunnies,
Your daffodils are beautiful. I would vote for Pete!
Take care, have a great day!
...it's great to see that your spring has sprung. Enjoy each and every day.
Will there ever be a day when we will accept people for who they are, universally I mean, where differences will no longer even be noticed? I really hope so. Last evening I gave a presentation to a fine group of students at the University of Guelph, and in them rests our hope. I hope they maintain their idealism and don’t get sucked into conformity, indifference and cynicism the way we have.
Your faux lillies look so real:) Happy Spring to you!
It's always nice to have spring arrive in my own area, but I really enjoy seeing it in those whose growing regions are colder than ours too. Cute spring decor through your house, too! Happy spring, Jeanie!
Your spring is so far ahead of ours! this month there a few friends birthday also.
Cathy
Oh, boy, I am with you on Chasten. I also hope he's First Husband one of these days!
I just noticed this morning that our forsythia is going strong. Glad you found the egg tree and some of your favorite easter decorations!
I love your Easter decorations. I have a photo of my purple tree on my blog today.
I love your post. So many nice Spring and Easter photo. I believe that there is so much fear, and hate in the world that acceptance will never take place. One reason is that it is generational. It is taught to children at very young ages. I am thrilled that you had the opportunity to hear Chasten speak and then get some time with him. Have a very lovely day.
Love the flowers and the exquisite eggs. Wow! Happy spring!
Our Passover is approaching too, and all I could think of is cleaning, thorough cleaning.
The beautiful flowers and the singing birds outdoors, give us the right boost to start and carry on the cleaning activities.
Jeanie, it was such a delight to see your bunnies and a few Easter things around your house.....and those lambs, how cute are they? I've always liked that yellow bunny too, he's so jolly and cute. So nice that you put your Easter egg tree up, and it made my heart smile when I saw the ladybug. I've mentioned to you before how special they are to me. Isn't that something that some of the eggs go way back to when you and your mom created them together?
Happy Spring, Jeanie, and I will come back to see your post again this week to see what I missed. A great picture of the goose, by the way.
~Sheri
Happy Spring, Jeanie and Happy Belated Birthday. Mine was earlier this month too. Love your "Spring Girls" they are so adorable. It's about time for geese nesting here too. I'm looking forward to it because they come to visit the bird feeder here every few minutes. Between them and the squirrels it's hard to keep things clean out back. Your Easter Egg tree is beautiful with the keepsake pieces. Have a great week!
I sincerely hope you are right. Buttigieg is a brilliant mind for all I have seen of him. Someone like that would be an amazing leader. Chasten seems like a really great guy, too. :)
You are really prepared for Easter and spring all over your house looks like. That is heartwarming that you have some eggs for your tree that you made with your mom! Even flowers starting to bloom! The weather here has been so up and down. Warm and then cold, but basically brown all winter. We are supposed to have a bit of snow again tomorrow, I guess. Probably be brown again in no time. 65 last week, 21 right now. I really need to have both my summer and winter wardrobes available--LOL!
Enjoy the springlike weather. Be kind to yourself. :)
Your springtime house is glorious!
Very cheerful Easter and spring decos, Jeanie, and those flowers can really lift your spirits on a dreary day. I only have a few bunnies and they are outside the apt entry. A post next week will feature them.
So beautiful
Your place is looking good with all of the decorations, you ave a LOT of bunnies. The clinic has been decorated, too, I'll take some photos soon! Hugs, Valerie
Happy spring to you. We are in a a bit of abatement right now after some glorious weather last week, but it will come around again ... sometime.
Our kids are coming for Easter weekend. I guess I ought to put out some decor!!!
My granddaughter came out last year. We love her so much.
Wonderful photos! They made me smile.
I just love that second bunny. Adorable. I haven't done much decorating and I probably won't. I don't have that much left anymore and nobody sees it but me... I will just enjoy your decorations. Enjoy the rest of your week.
Happy Spring.
Eddie and I enjoyed a lovely Spring day today. The blossom trees in our neighbourhood are flowering nicely and the spring flowers are doing very well too. I do like this time of year.
Our Easter décor will be out this weekend :)
I do like your Easter decorations.
My good wishes.
All the best Jan
Beautiful and cheerful flowers! Cute bunnies. Love this time of year!
My crazy response in my mind when you said you wished you had made the little lambs was to think of Blake’s poem “Little Lamb, Who Made Thee?” Sorry to be weird.
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
It's nice seeing your lovely Easter decor, Jeanie. I need to bring mine out sooner or it will be too late! Lovely blooms in your area. So glad your plans are going forward. Take care.
I sure hope we have a first husband, sometime or another, or one way or another. I was also in orchestra, theatre(sets and pit) and it was the one place everyone could participate without being last! like in a sport. Thanks for the vote for Pete---he is definitely a breath of intelligent fresh air! Hugs, Sandi
Oh, I would have loved sitting in to hear Chasten too. Pete came to Portland a couple months ago and one of my friends got to meet him. She thinks also that he would make a great president.
Loved seeing your signs of Spring, including the thought of live bunnies in your garden. I miss seeing bunnies hope into our garden. Love your Easter tree so much.
Good morning, lovely spring post. Enjoyed seeing all of your blooms and spring displays Thanks for the memories when I was a child we did allot with eggs. My Mom would also find very large eggs cut them in half and make into jewelry boxes March has gone by really fast for me too this year.
As a fellow rabbit lover, I love all of your bunnies!! And those lambs are too cute too!
How cool that you met Chasten! I saw that he was going to be speaking in Lansing. What a great night!
Oh, so true, we must be accepting of every person, no matter what their background, race, religion, preferences. We are all people and bleed the same. Prejudice needs to take a hike. Character is more important than anything else.
Book? Tell us more about your book!!
Faux or not, I really enjoyed seeing the lily of the valley, and those forsythia branches. Bringing cut forsythia into the house for forcing was a spring ritual when I was growing up; I still think of that flower as prototypically spring. We grew tulips, but I don't remember daffodils. Perhaps it was simply that my mother preferred tulips -- after all, she was the one who did the planting!
Thank you for stopping by my blog. Your comments are always a treat. I love the Emma Bridgewater vase and two cats. Very pretty. Most holidays see me with no decorations, as I have little storage space, but if I did, the Easter egg tree sounds like a treasure down memory lane. It is so clever and very beautiful. It never seems to be the nature of most humans to except people as they are. A very sad observation. Art seems to be very theraputic for many. I know it is for me. Yes, spring is in the air here also. Makes me as happy as you.
I love your spring decor - you know I'm made for bunnies. I hope the basement project is going well.
Hi Jeanie. Yea, spring is here at last. Your egg tree is so precious, I'm sure glad you didn't lose your eggs. Your spring flowers are gorgeous. Mine are better than ever this year. Must have been all the rain. Sounds like you had a wonderful evening. It is so important to listen to his words and then to heed them. I know a lot don't and that is a horrible shame. Enjoy this beautiful spring weather..xxoJudy
Hi Jeanie .Glad you had a lovely night with Chasten .Maybe in 4 more years. It is so important that we all listen to his words and live by them. So sad that in this day and age many don't. Love those little bunnies and lambs. So cute. Your spring flowers are beautiful. Mine have done better this year than ever before. Must be all the rain. I knew winter was good for something! Hope you are enjoying beautiful spring weather. We have had beautiful days since spring began..xxoJudy
Let's hear it for Spring. It makes everything better doesn't it?
So exciting that you got to meet Chasten.
Jeanie, I don't think I've got your birthday on my calendar. If you would be comfortable with it, would you drop it on my contact form on the blog? Of course, that doesn't mean I still won't manage to miss it. I've gotten very hit and miss about bdays. Sigh.
Glad the book is coming along.
I would have loved listening to Chasten’s speech at MSU. I don’t remember if I ever mentioned to you that we have a transgender daughter. The LGBQT community needs to be protected by acceptance into the general population. But instead, so many states are regressing and have a very ignorant view of what it truly means. It’s certainly not sex in the bathrooms, nor can you talk someone into being gay and/or transgender. BTW, I love the laughing face on the first bunny!
Jeanie, your bunnies and spring flowers delight. Love knowing that you are enjoying spring blooms. Happy Spring and Happy Easter, sweet friend.
Happy Spring! -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
So glad you are enjoying your time with a variety of fun activities!
What a lovely collection of Bunnies, Spring and Easter related items you have! Pete and Chasten Buttigieg are such impressive guys, both of them, aren't they? I too hope that Chasten gets to be First Husband some day!
LOVE the little lambs.
Great lecture to attend
Love your holiday decorations. There's something about vintage bunnies that warms the heart as much as Santa Claus does.
Happy Spring!
Sweet bunnies!
Jeanie, your home looks absolutely enchanting with all the delightful Easter decorations and spring blooms! 🌷🐰
I especially love those adorable lambs and bunnies scattered around.
Wishing you a joyful spring filled with warmth and Easter cheer! 🌼🐣
What a fun lecture/event to attend!!
You guys are further along than we are. I've seen some green stuff poking out of the ground but we are a ways from things blooming - which is good because it's currently snowing! We got about 4" last night and it's still snowing. We might get as much as 10" on Sunday! We'll see if that happens. The boys are THRILLED as we have barely had any snow. I don't love it but I also don't mind it terribly as I know it will melt fast.
That's a great picture of the 3 of you. Have a grand weekend.
That's a great picture of the 3 of you.
Have a grand weekend.
Happy Spring Jeanie, I'm glad you are starting to see things blooming! Your bunnies and Easter tree look festive for the season, Easter is right around the corner! Glad things are coming back together for you!
💕 Jenna
I loved your post, Jeanie, all the lovely bunnies and beautiful spring flowers. The eggs on your Easter egg tree are gorgeous, especially so because of your memories. Your home is bursting with spring!
Awesome photos! Here in S. California, we don't see such beauty in spring! Easter Deco is marvelous.
Your Easter displays are quite vibrant and I of course love bunnies. No outside Spring flowers and we had 5 inches of snow now.Janice
love all your bunnies....nice. As for March moving on through, Christmas will be here before you know it.
You took Easter to a whole new level! I thought maybe I was going to see a few lives bunnies as well! I don't think we have one Easter decoration in our house.
The laughing bunny and the kitties are so sweet! Enjoy!!

Thank you for stopping by! Happy Spring!
Such a busy month for you Jeanie. I can't believe that Easter is almost here. Autumn has actually started at long long last. We had a record-breaking summer with every day over 20C for the longest time ever!! I always think how funny it is that we celebrate easter with bunnies AND chickens. Hilarious!
Thank you for showing us beautiful spring flowers. We had a sudden snowfall for a while today.
Happy Spring to you. I love your bunnies. They are so cute. I agree with you that March is passing by way too quickly though I am very happy that warmer weather is arriving.
I love seeing the arrival of spring in your area! I love the bunnies and of course, Peter Rabbit. Happy belated birthday, Jeanie!
You have so many adorable Easter decorations! I love those eggs and can't believe you and your mom made them; they are beautiful works of art.
You must be thrilled to have the Christmas decor away and have those adorable bunnies out. it is great to see spring, isn't it? Of course I came home last night and woke up this morning to 5 inches of new snow. That's sad, but it should be gone soon. Have a great rest of your weekend. hugs-Erika
Yay on your Spring arriving, I’m happy for you! Everything comes so quickly and it’s always a surprise. I have to get my Easter Cards out on Monday. I love all your pretty Easter decorations – the Easter tree is charming especially with the connections of those eggs, many treasures - and those beautiful bouquets in your pretty vases! Lovely that you had a birthday lunch with your friend, and that must have been a very interesting evening with Chasten Buttigieg. That’s so cool to learn about him and he sounds a very interesting person, with a lovely picture of the three of you. Thoroughly enjoyed reading your post and seeing these super photos. Happy Spring to you and Rick Jeanie.
I am so glad you got to decorate for Easter. Those little girls are so cute. I sure do love bunnies and you have some darling ones. Continue to enjoy the season.
Happy Spring to you!
So happy you are doing well and enjoying being out and about in some really nice spring weather. Love all your bunnies and the little girl with the banner. I love my daffodils and seeing yours makes me feel so happy. Ours have come and gone except what I pick up at the garden center. Hard to believe March is in its last week. Happy spring and Easter Jeanie........
I do believe you live north of me, but your flowers are way ahead of mine ... hmmmm :0 I love your rabbit's fat cheeks and all of your decorations are fun. You egg collection is awesome and I am guessing full of memories. Good for you that you got to see, meet and listen to Chasten Buttigieg. If he is anywhere near as articulate as his husband, I can only imagine how interesting his talk would be. All subjects near to the heart of a teacher and a parent, especially parents with Autistic children or LGBTQ family members. My FH and I both think Pete Buttigieg would make an awesome President, but don't know if LGBTQ is accepted enough for him to be elected.
Spring is here, for sure, and I can commiserate with you over the busy month. It seems time just flies by and I still am never caught up ... but busy is better than bored :) So wonderfully uplifting post, Jeanie ... enjoy the beautiful Spring in all it's glory 😊
Andrea @ From the Sol
I love how you decorate for spring and Easter! Oh so many beautiful flowers! ♥♥
Jeanie, I'm glad you've had some signs of spring! I keep hearing that snow flurries keep coming your way. I thought it was supposed to be an early spring... Our weather is always erratic here in North Texas. It's only dropping into the high 40's at night now, but yesterday said it got up to 89 degrees (no heat in it, though). I am NOT ready for summer temps!
Glad you enjoyed seeing your post on this continuing Share Your Style #421. :) Congratulations on your book, too!!! When did this happen? What are you writing about?? I'll have to go back and read your previous posts to find out. Heading up to SD to see my son and grandson this weekend for the latter's 4th birthday. Plenty of time to read while waiting at the airport this morning. ;)
Have a great weekend and I hope the forsythia is really in bloom now,
Hugs,
Barb :)
I am SO jealous (in a good way!) that you got to go hear Chasten Buttigieg speak! I absolutely share your hope that he's the future (maybe 2028?) First Husband of POTUS. I thought it was the cutest thing ever when he dressed their babies up as traffic cones for their first Halloween since Pete is the Transportation Secretary. It just feels like they are so much more in touch with reality and more relatable than pretty much any other candidate and their spouse.
