I have no business buying one more plate.
But I did.
I couldn't resist these pheasant dishes from Tuesday Morning.
So I eased my guilty conscience by just buying two place settings and the serving bowls. And they work on my favorite fall tablecloth, a vintage aqua/white piece with soft brown, aqua and yellow leaves.
Flowers are easy at the end of the season -- just raid the garden! Zinnias, coleus, dusty Miller, sedum and more found their way into this arrangement.
Since I already have turkey plates and autumn plates, I didn't feel right getting a full set, so I got two complete place settings and the serving bowls. I know, I said that before. But I have to keep reminding you and if you saw my basement, you'd know why. Mostly, I have to keep reminding Rick. He does not have the dish addiction.
I liked the border and if I have to have more plates than the turkeys will allow, I can flesh it out with these and only the sharp-eyed will be any the wiser!
So, join me for a treat or two. But be careful -- don't do this...
...or it might turn into this!
And trust me, finding a replacement burner for a 1964 stove is not easy -- or inexpensive. Ah, life...

You've been a good girl buying only two sets and the bowls, Jeanie. My dish addiction got better over the years but who knows, I might have a relapse one day, lol. Enjoy your pretty new dishes and the meals served on them over the next weeks! :)
xo Julia
Well done on resisting temptation at least in part. Those bowls and plates are all gorgeous, I can see why you like them! Your table is looking great! Sorry about the hot plate on your stove, that looks bad! Have a good weekend, hugs, Valerie
Oh my Jeanie, those place settings are absolutely stunning. I can see why you wanted them. I don't own any turkey dinnerware, ha ha but the painted turkey on your dishes is almost exactly a replica of a serving platter my mom owned many years ago. Back in those days I never felt a desire to own any serving plates. These days I wish I had a decent one, lol. Sorry you burned your element. If you cannot find or clean you element, please let me know what kind you need exactly because there seems to be some around these parts. Hugs and have a great weekend. xx
I was at Tuesday Morning two days ago and I didn't see any of those plates. I'm always in awe of your plate collection. I adore your new pheasants and have always admired your turkeys since I saw them ?last? year or the year before.
OMGosh. I have the sister to your stove, only mine has a top oven. I only have ONE burner that still works, so if you find where to replace the burner, please let me know. I've called every place in town and they were still laughing when I hung up!
The dishes are lovely. A pretty table sets the mood for a lovely meal. You did good!
I saw your post title and got excited! Love your dishes, love your logic! Those will look great as head place settings if you ever do any kind of bigger service. I could take a lesson from you....I tend to go for four when the guilt sets in.
Yesterday I was deconstructing my containers, and was thinking what beautiful arrangements I could make with the flowers I was discarding. I was so focused on the job (and it was a big one, plus it was very hot outside), the thought was just fleeting as I tied the yard waste bags up.
Lol, Jeanie, looks like those dishes cost you a lot more than two place settings! I'm sorry, but I laughed out loud at the stove top (not funny, oh yes it is). I hope you can find a replacement soon.
Have a great weekend.
Don't feel guilty at all. I was looking at turkey dishes similar to yours a couple of weeks ago, putting them in my wagon and then taking them out. Putting them in taking them out. They went back on the shelf. But I haven't stopped thinking about them and I wish I had bought them. If only I had a big closet just for dishes, but as I have hardly any closets in this house, it really limits me. Sigh. Your table looks gorgeous Jeanie. Love the new dishes. Hope you can get the burner replaced without breaking the bank. Hugs-Erika
Omigoodness. You have ratcheted my love of plate collecting up a notch. Don will not thank you when I tell him it's your fault.
Hello Jeanie, your place settings are beautiful. I love the turkeys and pheasants. Your tablescape will be lovely. Your flower arrangement is gorgeous, I love zinnias. I hope you can find a replacement burner. Enjoy your day and weekend! BTW, thanks always for your visit and comments on my post.
Oh, that pheasant plate!! Gorgeous. I so love fall colours and images. I was worried my house was starting to look like a 1970's throw back because I had so much "harvest gold" and "burnt orange" in it! -Jenn
Oh you made me smile..I have a turkey set..for quite a few people..I had an enabler many yrs back and bought a few sets..ause they scream TG to me in a very pretty way.
So the last few yrs one of my DDs has taken over TG..this yr she made fondue..
she is my..here is a scott towel for a napkin daughter and I LOVE her for that..I do..because she is the exact opposite of me.
So..we have a thing here called Varage Sale..which is the garage sale part of Facebook..I am not on FB per say..but am on VS..so last week turkey plates were listed..I emailed my other daughter and told her I had visions of these (mine) going on VS or worse a garage sale one day..she emailed me back:"lol..I'll keep the turkey plates!"..:):):)LOL is right.
Love the pheasant!
So yes I have a few dishes too:)
I miss the antique ones I did NOT buy in Aix because J is like Rick and he rolled his eyes. And my luggage was full.
I miss them;)
And I have done what you did YEARS ago...
even on EBAY you cannot get a modestly priced replaement?
I can't because shipping is usually $$ from the US..but maybe you can?
Love your table setting.Pardon my typos.
I say that in advance now.
Those pheasants are beautiful, Jeanie. As a sister dish addict, I wholly approve. They go so well with the Turkey dishes and when people notice the difference you can tell them it was intentional. There is nothing wrong with mixing sets of dishes together. I also love the flatware and your tablecloth.
Here's an idle thought: when do you think your house is going to be so full you have to resort to a storage unit? Or has it happened?
I have just GOT to put the post together about my dish collecting run amok. When I ended up with dishes on top of the dryer and under the bed, it was time to address the situation. The good news is that I was buying and selling on ebay, so it wasn't a budget buster, but still... I both wish I had back some of the treasures I sold, and am glad they're gone. I still need to do some culling, but I'm about to the point where everything that's left is just "too good" to get rid of!
Sometimes it is just a must to buy dishes! These are lovely and what a pretty Fall table. Oh no to the burner issue. I've put plastic on a burner more times then I care to admit!
Hello JEANIE, WOMAN!!!!! I've missed you so! Nothing is perfect, but I think we can all be thankful this season for the simple things....my sister in law who we thought has lost everything in the Santa Rosa fires actually went back to the property she was staying at when the fires broke out, and by miracle, the house was NOT burnt! We are grateful for their safety. I hope you are well and making great progress!
My name is Silver Willow. I am a dish addict (too.)
Hi, Jeanie. My name is Jean, and I'm a dishaholic. ~~~~~~ Truly. I inherited it from my mother. My husband doesn't mind toooooo much; guess he'd rather I inherited the dish addiction than the cigarette addiction! Unlike my mother, though, I am trying to keep it under control. So I now follow the One In/One Out Rule. Love your irresistible new pieces!
Oh no! Plastic on a burner. Hope you found a new burner.
I also keep trying to resist dishes, but they are all so beautiful. Now I want go to Tuesday Morning. I love these turkey dishes oh so much.!!!
I can see why you got two place settings in the cute turkey design, Jeanie. So perfect for Thanksgiving. Don't ya just love Tuesday Morning? I have one right down the street from me, and go there every couple of weeks. They always have unique holiday stuff. Oh my, that's too bad what happened to your burner. That's not going to fun to clean. Your stove top looks just like my mom's, very cool 1964 one.

I love the way you decorate your house and set your table. It’s all so very pretty and decorative. Can I come for a meal?
You encourage me to set up my better china, even if it’s just for one now.
What a lovely table setting.
I bet your garden is gorgeous.
Oops on the burner...
Have a wondrous weekend.
Hugs
When we started using adorable seasonable paper plates and napkins several yrs ago, I thinned out my dish collection
Wish we loved closer together as I would have lots of dishes to give you. I have to start getting rid of stuff. If I pass before I get rid of things, my son will put it all in the dumpster. I have lots of great stuff, byt the younger generation is not into dishes or antiques.
Love the dishes, i would have purchased them also.
Hugs,
Mary
Loved your “pieces from the garden” for the centerpiece . . .
Fun way to create . . .
I too have a bit of “dish addiction.”
What is the pattern name of your new pieces?
I enjoy mixing up some of my stoneware and China patterns.
In fact, just reading your post has inspired me . . .
I think I need to do some dish play . . . and go on a hunt . . .
After these past weeks . . . I just need to play . . .
Maybe I need to check out Tuesday Morning . . .
Sorry for that burner mishap . . .
How could you not buy that plate it's gorgeous? When I was a little girl, my mum had a set of glasses decorated with pheasants, and I always loved them. They would match your plates perfectly.
Oh my goodness, did you get rid of the melted plastic? I don’t envy you the cleanup job. Everything looks wonderful, enjoy. x
Those dishes are fun! That was smart to just get 2 place settings so you can use them when it's just you and Rick. They look great with your autumn table cloth!
Bummer about the burner! I hate it when things like that happen (I've been guilty of letting something get too close to a hot burner, too). I'm glad you were able to find a replacement but it sucks that it was so expensive!!
oh my gosh, that bad disaster!
Wishing you a wonderful time enjoying your dishes.
Looks great. I can imagine it is a diffcult obsession. It does take some space to store them!
Yes, I know the one with plastic...
Hi Jeanie! Oh, honey, I understand about the dishes and you found some pretty ones too! Your table setting is just lovely. I'm hoping you found a replacement burner and didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for it! One day, sweet friend, we have to meet in Stockbridge!!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Lovely set of dishes!
Sorry about your stove mishap.
Blessings~
If buying plates makes you happy....BUY! A 1964 yr old stove? Wow...I was 4 yrs old when that was made. That is cool.
Those plates are so pretty. Makes me want to book it down to Tuesday Morning.
I hope you can find a new burner for your stove. That last photo really tells the story.
Your pheasant dishes are lovely Jeanie, don't feel guilty, life is too short to waste it on guilt. Imagine how disappointed you would feel if you hadn't bought them and then they had sold out. Oh my word, what a mess, I hope you manage to find a new burner, if not maybe a new stove ! :-)
Jeanie,
I just opened the current issue of SOUTHERN LIVING and YOUR PLATES are featured in a story about Thanksgiving place settings.
!!!
Fun to see I will be back
Laura
I was at Tuesday Morning last week and they had no dinner plates just bowls, so that was good that I didn't buy! I have waaayyy too many dishes! I like those because they are made in England! I am so sorry about your stove, yikes!
Dearest Jeanie,
honestly I'm dish-addicted too, and let me say that your dishes are truly lovely, your purchese is such a success to me ;)!
Wishing you a most lovely new week,
I'm sending much love to you,
thank you for our precious friendship I treasure so much
XOXO Dany
Hello Dear Jeanie,
Oh you have gotten me in the mood to really get with decorating. I've been a bit of slacker this year. I am in love with your choice of dishes and your perfect sense of reasoning too!
I am so sorry about your burner! How does one go about finding a replacement?
Sending joyful friendship your way!
Jemma
What a BEAUTIFUL table setting, Jeanie! LOVE the pheasant dishes...*swoon*...LOVELY cloth... I just wanna sit right down there!! With limited storage, I have not slipped into dish addiction, and don't really collect very much these days, which is probably a good thing. haha... Oh, but your stove! :( Do hope you'll be able to get that fixed... ((HUGS))
Oh no! I love your finds from Tuesday Morning. It's one of my favorite places to shop.
