I'll pack up a boatload of books, art supplies and one furry, yappy girl and head off, popping in at home now and then! And I can't wait!
If there is one thing that is more challenging, it's that the cottage is in what I call "The Land of Limited Internet." It's not limited to everyone, just to me!
It doesn't seem fiscally sensible to get internet for two or three months when you have to pay for it all year long. So, I get my internet by going to the library or my cousin's house down the road.
It's a mixed blessing. I don't get to check in with everyone as often as I'd like and I miss that. It might mean I visit less or comment less. Writing isn't a problem because I can prep it up and paste it in or pre-schedule. Visiting and replying to comments isn't always as easy.
That said, there is much good about not being attached to the computer. I read a lot more. (Just finished this one in the Armande Gamache series. Very good -- but read them in order!).
I paint more regularly. And for longer periods at a time. I can really concentrate on improvement, not just getting something done.
I'll eat healthy, wonderful things from the farm market, visit friends who live in the north and swim often (once the lake warms up!).
I will commune with nature (but chase the geese off the beach!) and take long walks.
I'll anticipate Rick's vacation time at the lake where we will work on many happy homeowner projects and he'll appreciate some cycle time!
And in the evenings, we'll sit on the porch, eat something yummy on the grill and watch the sun sink beyond the trees in the distance!
So, if you don't see Lizzie and me around much this summer, we haven't forgotten you and will check in when we can. We're bonding!
And enjoying the sunsets!

Oh my, I would be totally lost without my internet. I figure I worked all those yrs to be able to have some things I want! Loving that beautiful shot of the water and the sky. Great painting. I have laid off painting so much these days, running out of places to stack them. I need to try watercolor. Easier to store then on canvas. Thanks for sharing. Till you have internet again....later.

Lucky you, Jeanie. It all sounds wonderful. I understand missing internet access as we are in a bit of a valley when it comes to service here and are limited to how much data we can use and I, too, find it frustrating. But like you say, it gives you more time to do things that you love to do with little interruption. Enjoy your 'free' time with rick and Lizzy-girl. I bet she likes the whole idea of more cuddles. :) (or not) lol

Enjoy! being unattached to the internet is actually nice. I was off for a few days last week and came home and didn't really want to go back on. But I forced myself-lol! Your view looks wonderful and it looks like you have a Sandy beach too. How much better can it get? Oh yes you just finished a good read. I haven't read all the Louise Penny books but they are really good books. I have read a Beautiful Mystery. Enjoy your reading and the sunsets and maybe even a swim in the lake? Hugs-Erika
Fortunately, we're on the good side of the lake, the side that gets natural gas and cable. Mr. Cottage has to have his TV (I can do without it), but then we also have internet. He does something where he can put our cable to sleep for half a year, so to him it's worth paying for. This way I can keep up with the blogging and Share Your Style link party. But there are times I wish we didn't have either of these. Have a great 4th of July!

Does your cat like to travel? Wow! My cats are afraid of taking them to the trip. I have to let them stay at home with my mom when I want to travel somewhere.

I was without internet and a phone (my internet provider is also my phone provider) for six days awhile back and I nearly went insane. I'm glad you have ways to preoccupy your time, because it sounds like you will be enjoying your time unplugged. I will miss you.
Love the "yappy" Lizzie comment. I used to have a cat named Dog. He LOVED to ride everywhere with me. He walked on a leash and we went everywhere together. He had a sand box and food and drink behind each front seat. He sat up front with me and looked out the window. Most cats go crazy, but not Dog. I always said Dog is my copilot. I hope you and Lizzie bond over the car, too.

Everyone needs time away from the gizmos and gadgets (except for my friends who chose those words as names for their two dogs). While I'm as fond of the internet as anyone, I still manage to keep it in check here at home, and I'm glad for the side benefits that come along with that: most of which you mentioned.

Disconnecting is so good for a person! I need to do that more often. I am on my phone less at the lake as I tend to leave it inside (although I like having it close for taking pictures!). I need to start the Armande Gamache series - too many books to read, too little time!!
How does Lizzie handle her carrier? It's a 2 person job to get Oscar in hers! Phil has to close all the doors in the house and then take the top off of it and then he picks her up and I enclose it. She HATES going places in the car and always has! She's definitely got a STRONG personality and will let you know what she does and doesn't like!

Being without internet is kind of a paradox! Frees up time for other things... keeps you out of what you want to be into. During our long trip west I rarely checked a lot of things I wish I could stop checking, but now that I'm back, I can't keep away.
