Summer Reunion Time

Probably photos of other peoples' reunions are boring to anyone who wasn't there. Sorry about that! But I have a few things to share from our recent Oberle reunion.

I only made it for a short while. Still a little too fatigued to hang in too long.

But it was a good time while it lasted. People were somewhat on their own during the day but on Friday evening we gathered together for a big picnic and group photo. No, I don't have the group photo yet. But I do have the brothers...(let me just say trying to tag these guys on Facebook is a pain because facial recognition gets them totally confused!)

...and with their sister!

Heidi organized a family feud game which brought lots of smiles.

Others were occupied with photos and memorabilia.

There was time for family photos too. We're missing Greg here, and we have one crying baby and one with upside down sunglasses, but it was the best of the lot!

There were games for the kids and playground equipment too.

All things considered, the kids held up pretty well.

Of course, all days come to an end!

The next day we went sailing. I happened to be on two excursions.

It's always fun to watch them hoist the sails!

And once we'd motored out of the harbor, we were on wind power!

Eventually, there was some drag on the back of the sailboat, but we still were humming along. Fortunately, no sharks were swimming in Lake Michigan!

We passed by several lighthouses...

...some decked out for the day.

Past beautiful sand dunes...

...and a submarine one could tour.

And most of all, we had a good and relaxing time.

Cousins, nieces, nephews, partners, children, parents and friends together.

Four generations.

 Shared history.

Sharing.

And loving the mellow.

(Due to blogger grief and lack of internet for a bit, I won't be replying to comments unless a direct question is asked. Please know how much I love your visits and value being in touch but for a few days things are a little complicated! I might be slow visiting too, but will do my best to keep up!)

Sharing with:  Best of the Weekend

A fun time and good weather! It looks like the little guy fell on his face and got a boo boo. Love all the smiles - yours especially. I hope you're feeling much better.

You all certainly had a great time, your photos show that. I had never heard of “family reunion” before I came to the US. It is a nice US custom when you have many members in a family so you can get together and hear all your news and not lose contact. My mother was an only child and my father had a sister in Cairo, Egypt, so a family reunion would have been just about 2 or 3 people! In the US they do have large families not like in France, so it is a lot more fun. I wish I had a large family now. You did pack some great time together.

The brothers look so much alike. How funny about the facial recognition! Great photos and memories, I am sure. It must have been a blast to spend time on the water. It looks like the weather was perfect.

Jeanie, the reunion looks like fun with so many neat activities! Your photos are outstanding. I love the lighthouse photos. Have a happy week, my friend.

Looks like everyone had a great time, Jeanie, but not knowing anyone (other than you and Rick via the internet) it is hard to relate. I have no family other than my daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren, so reunions would be pretty small. Such events take place on Miriam's side, where there is a veritable tribe, but I can't say they are among the year's highlights for me!

How nice to be one sister among five brothers!
Red is the color of strong emotions, and indeed, family gatherings arouse such emotions, especially love and affection.

I am not sure that I understand the term "blogger grief," Jeanie.

Those brothers sure look like brothers. And a handsome crowd they are. But their sister, she looks a bit different from them. But it is good to be unique. Love those sleeping grand- children (I won't call them babies anymore). How sweet. Hugs-Erika

Looks like Lake Michigan cooperated that day. We were near Lake Huron Saturday and the waters were very choppy with warnings not to even go into the water. Looks like the family reunion was a fun time by all! Janice

Wow five brothers and a sister! That looks like a great time, Jeanie! (I'd take a pass on the boat, though). Nice that they organized games and activities for the kids, too. -Jenn

My mom side will be having a family reunion this weekend, but I will be over in Portland.
One thing never discuss at our reunion is politics or religion.
Coffee is on

That looks like a happy reunion time. I love Lake Michigan and grew up in a house on the cliffs overlooking it, in Wisconsin.

I can see why facial recognition would be hard when all those brothers look so much alike. Looks like you had a great time, though. It must have been a really fun get-together with Rick's family.

Somehow, I don't understand what you meant by blogger grief. I hope nothing serious.

In theory I have 14 cousins, but we never ever meet. And it was months ago that I saw my Brother, too.
You all look so happy it´s a joy to see :-)
And being on and in the water!! (we have 57F now, is that summer?!)...
You have a great family, enjoy big :-)

It looks like a really lovely get together! I like the idea of family reunions, although we don't tend to have them much in England...but what a great idea. It looks like you had some lovely weather for it too! Glad you made it, even if for not as long as you'd like - recovery can be tedious.

Good looking family photos. Jeanie, I loved the relaxed picture of you and the family on the boat. The two wore out little fellows just squeezed my heart. I love that family feud game idea too. Oh my gosh I will have to get my girls to play that. LOL Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie

It looks like a wonderful family reunion, Jeanie. I love the picture of the boys all tuckered out at the end of the day. And your family photo is awesome. How fun to all wear red shirts. I haven't had a family reunion in years, but me and my cousin sometimes talk about it.

Oh, these Summer days, and it looks like you are enjoying them, Jeanie.

What a great reunion, love the photos, Jeane! I know EXACTLY what you mean by the Facebook tagging. In our family we laugh so often about how it tries to tag cousins and daughters, and sisters interchangeably. If it weren't so frustrating it'd be quite entertaining. I've seen my girls (and their mutual friends on FB) just leave the tags incorrectly. Talk about confusing!

I'm glad you had a good time and were able to join for some of the festivities. I bet people were glad that you took photos. It's tough to remember to do that sometimes so it's good to have people like you who recognize the importance of documenting family gathering! I love how everyone wore red - very festive and fun!!
