Home

We have returned and it's been a long while since I've visited you! Well, I hope to catch up, both with blog visiting and replying to the terrific comments you left while I was away. Thanks for checking in!

In case you didn't think I posted anything while I was gone, here are links to several posts that appeared (thanks to that wonderful scheduling feature!)

A Visit to Southern Exposure -- The Gardens
A Visit to Southern Exposure -- A visit with Chef Elsie
Interview with Author Richard Lassin (especially for my blog friends who love books!) Please note that the correct Amazon link for the book is HERE. I'll try to get it changed in the post, too. Thanks to a couple of you for pointing it out.

I'm organizing photos (all 3700 of them -- but  don't worry, many will be deleted!) and hope to fill you in on some of my travel adventures -- the good, the bad and the ugly.

Actually, almost all good. The bad and the ugly was my failure to walk well with my foot, which led to more than one meltdown and several wheelchair visits to museums. Rick was just terrific pushing me around (that didn't come out right!) but it did cut down on some of our plans.

What was best? The people, of course! Both seeing old friends, like my college friend Jerry and bloggers/instagrammers Peter Olson and Tara Bradford Holmes in Paris; blogger Jenny Woolf and her husband Tony in London; my forever friend Suzanne and her husband Jim in London and former colleague Joan, also in London. There were some wonderful conversations and grand times as we connected with them, along with new friends we met along the way.

Our trip took us from Paris to London, then on to Windsor, Oxford and Bath. Some of these places were new to me and all delighted in ways I never imagined. We went to five art museums, five historic residences, eight other museums/attractions, five churches, several parks and/or gardens and saw two plays and five concerts. (Actually, a little more than that, I think... I'm sure I'm leaving something out!)

We're both exhausted, the heat at home pooped out on my cat sitter while we were gone and still isn't quite right, my car is not working (it didn't even start and the brakes are dead... welcome home!) and it's cold. But Lizzie seems reasonably happy to see me (although she had such a sweet deal with her sitter, Jan, I'm not sure I measure up!).

So stay tuned! There is more to come, interspersed with real-life like Cork Poppers, more Southern Exposure, my upcoming art sale and perhaps a Baby Grand or two! And yes, the holidays are coming!

So glad you made it home Jeanie. I love the photos you've shared and look forward to more. I'm surprised I didn't get any notice of the posts that were made while you were away. Now I must go back and see what I've missed :-) It does sound like you were very busy!

Welcome home. What! You didn’t do any birding there? I am sorrry to hear that you wound up in a wheelchair, but maybe it’s not a bad strategy! Maybe I can fake illness or infirmity and have someone push me around.

Sorry to hear about your foot and your car. Take your time catching up, no need to worry about responding with me. Glad you're home, safe and sound.

The wanderer returns haha! Hey with that wheelchair malarky did you get whizzed up to the plane on a special electric buggy and priority loading? Every cloud has a silver lining and all that! Looking forward to hearing all about it!

Welcome back Jeanie, it feels as you've just left last week.
You're just as bad as I am with photo taking - I spent 4 days in Sydney last week and took almost 900 photos!
Looking forward to hearing all about your trip, but the photos you posted are very pretty.

Glad you had a good time! I take just as many photos and often bemoan the lack of digital on our early travels. I am going through a lot and deleting more and more, getting more brutal.

How wonderful to have had a beautiful trip! I have pushed John in a wheelchair in art museums before when he was healing...Yes, it is hard to have an ailment while traveling, but it sounds like you were able to do it!! Takes some persistence, optimism and courage, which you seem to have a lot of! Love the photos...

Welcome home Jeanie. Sounds like it was a good trip, and even though your foot seemed to be an issue, it certainly didn't stop you too much. Which is of course a great thing. You look fabulous in your photo too, rested and relaxed. Can't wait to see more of your trip and all the other fun things you do. Hugs-Erika

Always sad when a holiday is over, but I am looking forward to see what you´ve been up to, even if it had to be in a wheelchair for a while...
Oh, yes, meeting fellow bloggers is always fun - and .. weee.... digital photography, huh!
Hubby states if we had had that on our last big journey (Australia 1999) I´d probaly still sit and edit pics ;-)
So... don´t delete too many!

Welcome back, Jeanie! And take your time with the 3,700 pictures. Lovely pics here and I'm curious about the inside of that abode Morgan's Forge. Any pics? Because I always wonder how they can keep a historic building up-to-date and suitable for accommodate tourists. And hey, you look great! Always wonderful to meet friends in foreign places. Glad you've a great trip.

I'm glad you're home safely, and that the trip was mostly good. Glad Rick was able to push you around in a good way. So sorry to you had trouble with your foot, though. That's no fun.

I cannot wait to see your pictures (even if it does end up being close to all (3,700 of them) and read all about what you saw and did. We desperately want to visit the U.K. one day, so I'm really looking forward to your posts.

I hope all of the house and car issues are resolved soon. It's always so disappointing when real life comes rushing back all at once like that.

Welcome back to Blogger! You've been missed.

It all sounds like such a grand adventure! Wonderful places, wonderful people! So sorry that your foot slowed you down at times, but didn't discourage your explorations. It's great that you're safely home and reunited with Lizzie -- who must have had excellent care! Otherwise, you know she wouldn't be speaking to you yet!

Oh man, that sounds like a rough 'welcome home'. I hope the car and heat get resolved very very soon. It's tough to come home to cold weather - it's just not as welcoming as warm, sunny weather! It sounds like you had a great trip despite your feet not cooperating. I can't wait to hear all about what you saw and did!
