This week, in her "Dreaming of France" challenge, Paulita chose to feature some cats of Paris, inspired as she was by Virginia (Paris Through My Lens) and Genie (Paris and Beyond).
I thought I'd add to the mix. The sweet boy above was waiting for us at the top of the Abbesses Metro in Montmartre. At the time I visited, my sweet Marmalade Gypsy was home waiting for me, quite ill. I think this cat was a sign that Gypsy was hanging in there for my return.
This one above was in the Montmartre cemetery, sheltered from the rain.
If you take a closer look, you see a strong resemblance to Lizzie Cosette -- perhaps a sign that only five months from my visit, Gypsy would have passed and Lizzie had wiggled her way into my heart.
Of course you can't speak of cats in Paris without mentioning a little art. The above is one of my favorite paintings from Musee d'Orsay.

Oh fun. I love that you saw cats that resembles Gypsy & Lizzie while in France. I didn't see many cats when I was in Paris but I did see one that seemed to live in a creperie I went to and he/she was so cute!

The painting from Musee d'Orsay is my favorite also. Such a great post! It would be wonderful if one day I am able to travel to Paris.. If not, I will enjoy my virtual travels with you and others who have been. I so enjoy traveling along with every one. Next best thing to being there.

Yes, creating a picture with wool is a bit different that what I am use to. It is surely a learning curve. I hope to get better at it.

teeeheee....when I was in France, I saw so many well-loved chats, les chats bien-aimé (beloved cats) and I got a couple of good photos of them!

I see you have changed the illustrations on the blog. I like all the sky blue and clouds, and the photo in which both cats appear.
I'm not a big cat person, but I do love art, so I think these are gorgeous pieces!
And old cemetaries are so full of history... love to visit them when I'm in Europe!

Purrr-fect! I do love the painting as well - surely the artist is a lover of cats, too. I adore the cemetery cats and have never seen as many as in Buenos Aires' Recoleta Cemetery.

I had two cats but they died and have never been replaced.
I could kick myself for not buying a new camera to replace the broken one during my 3 month stay in Europe. Instead, I bought postcards. Lol.

I love animals, dog and cats. I always notice the animals when I travel. I’ve seen the kitties in Paris and I’ll always remember seeing them everywhere in Rome. I love this cat sheltering from the rain. Sweet post Jeanie.

I loved this visit to France that focused on cats. I found it quite interesting. Oh, Jeanne, I love France. I wonder if I will ever see it again. If not, I will at least get to visit it through your eyes.
I love cats too, everywhere. Whenever I see one I take its pictures. I have several taken in Jimmy Carter’s boyhood farm in Plains, Ga, as well as some in Paris, and other places. I remember there were many in Athens, Greece and also in Bangkok – it was strange to see wild Siamese cats there.
