The first autumn visit to my Happy Place means the gardens are still in bloom -- and we have a great project! |
Road Trip: Isabelle deBorchgrave -- Fashioning Art from Paper, Part One
The first part of my birthday excursion to a fabulous art exhibit -- gowns made completely of paper! |

When our artist Greg comes to touch up a project, we're thrilled to see him -- and share is work! |
Thinking of Notre Dame
The Notre Dame fire shocked us all and brought back memories as well. |
Road Trip to Massachusetts
One of the "up" times from our Massachusetts visit -- sightseeing, a great bookstore and dinner at historic Longfellow Inn. |
Birds of the Berkshires
Our Berkshire visit had its ups and downs! The "up" part included family time and some knock out birds! |
Thoughts on Caregiving and Taking Care
The "downs" of the Berkshire visit was when Rick fell on ice and broke his leg. |

Cooking classes with Chef Geoff are great. When he makes the best grilled cheese ever, they're even better! |

few strategies for any time of year.
It was hard to choose between Harry flying or fishing (or Ellie Egret flying). But here's my Big Bird. |
Fifty Years
A Fifty Year reunion -- and reflections on why finally deciding to attend was a good idea. |
Here's to a new year of sharing memories and life on Marmelade Gypsy. I started my 13th year on this blog in late December and what a joy it has been to make new "friends" from all over the world. While many seem to be slacking off on blogging, I'm finding it more rewarding and meeting more of you than ever before. For this, I end as I began. Grateful. Happy New Year!

ReplyDeleteI vividly remember many of these posts! One of my favorites was the exhibit of paper dresses. Thanks for sharing those with us as they were so beautiful and something I like won't ever see in person!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and yours!!
If I had to pick one of my favorite posts of yours it would be between the paper show and one of your corker parties. The first one awes me and the parties always make me feel happy reading about the fun and friendship you guys share.

Yes, we had a good year, oh, maybe I really pick up that idea of looking back.
ReplyDeleteWe had bad times, too, I remember your place running full of water. (This is what happened to Ingo and hence he came to my place for good back then).
13 years here, too, and yes! So many stopped blogging and went to Facebook only, kinda sad.
Both brought good things, Blogger and Facebook.
Can you even remember the times when we lived without the internet? It all took so long, it was so complicated and finding new friends, haaa, how?
A very nice review, to another Happy News Year, Jeanie!
I believe it was one of your Cotswolds post that first drew me to your blog... and I definitely remember those paper dresses!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad we met!
Such fun and happiness! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI remember every one of these posts, Jeanie. Great review. Here's looking forward to 2020, and to letting go of all the bad memories, yet cherishing the good from 2019. Happy New Year, dear.
ReplyDeleteI remember many of these posts first time round, but missed the lovely "Grateful" post and really liked reading it for the first time. You've done some wonderful posts.

ReplyDeleteI remember most of these. Good ones.
ReplyDeleteHere's to 2020.
What a lovely review and memories. 13 years!!! Congratulations! You are 6 months ahead of me, as I will celebrate 13 years in June. I love seeing your memories, they are extra special. Fun to see that stack of books too.
ReplyDeleteI remember most of these posts. You had a great year for sure Jeanie. And hopefully 2020 will be as good if not better than 2019 was. And maybe if you and Rick go back to MArlboro we might manage a meet up? Time will tell. Happy last weekend of 2019. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteIt must have been a difficult job picking a just a few for your retrospecitive look at 2019! Every one is a winner. So glad to have stumbled across you this year and looking forward to reading your words and seeing your photos in 2020.
ReplyDeleteBlwyddyn Newydd Dda!
~~~Deb in Wales
It's been a great year. Looking forward to the next one!
ReplyDeleteOh Jeanie, what a wonderful way to finish up the year than by reflecting back. I loved Peter Mayle's book "A Good Year" and I love to refer to the title. Such a great review. All the best for a wonderful 2020!
ReplyDeleteYour life is so rich and full, Jeanie! I'm so happy to know you through blogging, and always look forward to your enlightening, colorful, and informative posts! I am still sad over not making it to the de Borchgrave exhibit. I would love to get a copy of the book that includes both the period clothing and ballet costumes. If I recall, you mentioned the book was either not available other than through the exhibit venues, or it was very expensive. Could you send me the ISBN sometime, and/or the title or cover photo? I've looked online and see 3 different books.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a healthy and happy new year!
It's such fun to look back and remember all the experiences we've enjoyed, time goes by so fast, it's nice to look back and savor the memories! I really enjoyed the paper art posts, something I've never seen before! You are living life to the fullest Jeanie, thanks for sharing all your incredible adventures!
PS - The photo of you and Rick at the Inn in Mass. is beautiful of you both. It is one for a frame.
Some of these I remember for sure! Others I plan on reading soon! The Berkshires has been on the top of my vacation dream list for a while now, so I am looking forward to going back and reading those.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I "met" you this year! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are one of my blogging friends who really blogs a lot AND enjoys it - I can "see" that in every post you publish. It is truly beautiful. Like you I still think blogging is rewarding, even though I don't often find the time for it. I wish I could blog more, but I think that has to wait until I retire from at least one of my jobs. Happy new year to you, Jeanie! I look forward to your 2020 posts.
JEANIE!!!
ReplyDeleteDear and wonderful Jeanie, thank you for coming to visit my blog; as you know, I am not blogging much these days and my school schedule just won't allow me to engage in too many social media platforms. I spend my "wad" of social media time on Instagram. However, it was fabulous to see your comment!
Look at all these memories here. From travels to home stay, you always capture what is most important: friendships. I hope that this has been a great year for you and that 2020 is an even better year for us all. Hugs to you dear and wonderful Jeanie!
What a memorable 2019! Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year filled with wonderful memories! Many thanks for your visits and comments, it is very encouraging for a new blogger.
ReplyDeleteI love all of your posts, Jeanie!
