Recently my blog friend Mae and I met up halfway in Chelsea, MI, where we've lunched before. (
Cue the music!) After lunch we took a walkabout in this wonderful town filled with cute shops! And then there was this mural.
|
"There's a sun show every second" |
Don't you think the song lyrics fit this little alleyway well?
|
"...the first thing that I saw
Was the sun through yellow curtains, and a rainbow on the wall" |
|
And the streets are paved with passersby... |
|
...And pigeons fly... |
|
And the sun poured in like butterscotch and stuck to all my senses |
|
When the curtain closes and the rainbow runs away
I will bring you incense owls by night |
'Tis the week to wear green, so if it suits your fancy, I'm sure these two Chelsea-ites wouldn't mind a little company!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Fantastic photos of Chelsea. And it was really fun!

Cool looking town.
ReplyDeleteNow this is a really creative use of urban landscape. And it sure beat mindless, tasteless graffiti.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, the flying pigeon is a crane.
ReplyDeleteStreet Art is such a wonderful inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous place you visited, love all the great street art. I think I would enjoy strolling around there. Thanks for sharing the photos, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI love street art and building art. These are really cool....If I would not freak out my mom and neighbors I would paint the side of my house with some stuff like this!!! HAHA
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun! Keep that camera handy when you go...heehee! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteStreet art is fabulous isn't it? A few months back my daughters and I went to the Bishop Art District. It's near Dallas and it's a urban renewal type project. The art was wonderful and it ignited so many thoughts in my mind!
ReplyDeleteVery colourful murals!
ReplyDeleteThe only item of green I have is a scarf with some green in it.
Cool wall murals, Jeanie. Love the one with the sun. How nice that you met up with a blog friend. I've only met one blog friend, and we used to live in the same town, and she owned a vintage shop. Oh, how I'd love to meet more.
ReplyDeleteYes, St. Patrick's Day is coming up!

What fun views. That must be an artistic town. The sun is my favorite. At this time of year there is no such thing as too much sun! Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteJeanie that sun mural makes me HAPPY!!!! Art all over is what I say. :)

Your photos of Chelsea are fantastic. I love discovering small towns with cute little shops. It sounds like a really fun day.
ReplyDeleteWell I want to go there!--that looks like so much fun! Love big bright murals like that! I also liked all the pretty flowers on your previous post. How is your week going so far? Mine's okay, we sure had a busy weekend so I am inside today taking it slow and recovering! LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredibly fun post. I loved the street art and the mural on the side of the building. It was fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day, too on Saturday.
Wonderful street art! Thank you for sharing your walk through that town, Jeanie!
ReplyDeleteOMG - my high school hippy days just came crashing down on my head like a million feather pillows! There are so few who can bring back the memories like one note of Joni, The Beatles, or David Bowie!
ReplyDeleteYou chose exactly the right song to accompany the mural tour - perfect! It's all right there and hanging out!
Have a splendid St. Patrick's Day ... being a nice German Jew boy, I don't get too much into that holiday LOL - but I do enjoy the elaborate displays of green around town!
What a charming town, and you presented it to us beautifully.
ReplyDeletePretty murals Jeanie, you could have posted them on Monday Murals.
ReplyDeleteLove the dressed up bears.
Wonderful murals, jeanie. I especially like the sandhill crane and the raccoon!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that is so perfect! What a great way to start the day, Jeanie. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCute and fun! I love murals Jeanie..Mtl has lots also!I love the new Leonard Cohen one though I have not seen it in person.Fun fun fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun little town. I love places like that to shop and stroll and just enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you get to meet up with so many of your bloggy friends. I've only ever met three of mine, and I married one of those.
ReplyDeleteI've got a green shirt that has a horse on it, but will probably forget to make sure to wear it on St Patrick's Day. You'd think with us being closer it would be more of a thing over here, but most British people outside of Ireland don't acknowledge St Patrick's Day at all (I'm not even sure if many of them know when it is) and those who do may not know about the wearing green thing being such a big deal (I didn't until I started talking to people from the US on a regular basis).
That looks like my kind of town, Jeanie. So glad you two had fun!!
ReplyDeleteLove the Proposal Mural...King Kong-sized...fabulous! What a fun outing. :)
ReplyDeleteThe song and the street art really do compliment one another... and what a blast from the past with Joni Mitchell...LOVE IT !!!! Happy St. Patrick’s Day .
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! Such vibrant colors. :)

ReplyDeleteCute!!! I love walls painted with artwork! I have some pics from here locally in Denton, TX, down by a couple of colleges that I ought to pull out and write up. Sooo many posts... ;) Enjoying yours!!!

Barb :)
Wow! These wall arts are great! I love to watch nice graffiti!
ReplyDeleteThere is one place I know in Warsaw, where is huge bricked wall and the owner let all people to make graffiti there. They can practise there. And I like to walk there sometimes, because all the time there is something new drown.
Oh, the sun is my absolute favorite! Though all are great, murals make the world so much better.
ReplyDelete...colorful meeting!
ReplyDeleteYour murals brought a smile to my face. I love the Raccoon and the Proposal :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh those murals are beautiful! I love it when cities have beautiful murals like that. I don't really know of many in Minneapolis but I know of other cities that seem full of them - like Calgary, Canada and the Mission district of San Francisco!
