Chelsea Morning

Recently my blog friend Mae and I met up halfway in Chelsea, MI, where we've lunched before. (Cue the music!) After lunch we took a walkabout in this wonderful town filled with cute shops! And then there was this mural.

"There's a sun show every second"
Don't you think the song lyrics fit this little alleyway well?

"...the first thing that I saw
Was the sun through yellow curtains, and a rainbow on the wall"
And the streets are paved with passersby...
...And pigeons fly...
And the sun poured in like butterscotch and stuck to all my senses
When the curtain closes and the rainbow runs away
I will bring you incense owls by night
'Tis the week to wear green, so if it suits your fancy, I'm sure these two Chelsea-ites wouldn't mind a little company!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

  2. Now this is a really creative use of urban landscape. And it sure beat mindless, tasteless graffiti.

  3. And by the way, the flying pigeon is a crane.

  8. Street art is fabulous isn't it? A few months back my daughters and I went to the Bishop Art District. It's near Dallas and it's a urban renewal type project. The art was wonderful and it ignited so many thoughts in my mind!

The only item of green I have is a scarf with some green in it.

  10. Cool wall murals, Jeanie. Love the one with the sun. How nice that you met up with a blog friend. I've only met one blog friend, and we used to live in the same town, and she owned a vintage shop. Oh, how I'd love to meet more.

Yes, St. Patrick's Day is coming up!

  20. OMG - my high school hippy days just came crashing down on my head like a million feather pillows! There are so few who can bring back the memories like one note of Joni, The Beatles, or David Bowie!

You chose exactly the right song to accompany the mural tour - perfect! It's all right there and hanging out!

Have a splendid St. Patrick's Day ... being a nice German Jew boy, I don't get too much into that holiday LOL - but I do enjoy the elaborate displays of green around town!

  27. How wonderful that you get to meet up with so many of your bloggy friends. I've only ever met three of mine, and I married one of those.

I've got a green shirt that has a horse on it, but will probably forget to make sure to wear it on St Patrick's Day. You'd think with us being closer it would be more of a thing over here, but most British people outside of Ireland don't acknowledge St Patrick's Day at all (I'm not even sure if many of them know when it is) and those who do may not know about the wearing green thing being such a big deal (I didn't until I started talking to people from the US on a regular basis).

  39. Wow! These wall arts are great! I love to watch nice graffiti!
There is one place I know in Warsaw, where is huge bricked wall and the owner let all people to make graffiti there. They can practise there. And I like to walk there sometimes, because all the time there is something new drown.
