My journey to physical therapy took me by the Michigan State campus so I made a quick stop at the children's garden.
I think these look like Coneheads!
And no one wants to sit in the Butterfly chair today.
Is this a student who froze or a sculpture? Ah yes, I think I know the answer.
White sheep or tan sheep?
No one was taking a leisurely rest on the benches today.
And whoever was riding this? Bad idea.
All lovely. But it wears thin!
The snow was high on this tree at the physical therapy parking lot.
And even higher at Kroger!
I thought I'd take a quick spin by the Ditch just to show you what it's like in the winter. It's hard to believe that white space on the far side of the fence is water. Or rather, ice.

No one was sitting on this bench either!
Right now the only ones who can get along the unplowed paths are skiers or snowshoe fans. Cross country skier Rick, on the other hand, is in seventh heaven. Meanwhile, I'm hoping my neighbor got his truck dug out.
It's a very good time to paint! (By the time this posts, we're supposed to have rain and 40 degrees. I don't understand winter anymore.) And thanks for all the nice comments on my Valentine post! Yes, I'll keep him!

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! You weren't kidding when you called it a snow day! I can't imagine living with snow like that. When we get one inch here in Central Alabama, everything shuts down!
ReplyDeleteYou got a LOT of snow. We haven't had any this year, or rather what they called a "dusting" that was gone by sunrise. The photos you took were lovely, especially the coneheads, but I agree it probably would get old quickly, especially if you have to be out in it. Thanks for sharing these beautiful and rather chilling photos with us.
ReplyDeleteSome of those scenes could be right here, although the last two days have been really mild and a lot of snow is melting. It would be better if it cools again for a couple of days to let this water get away and not cause localized flooding.

ReplyDeleteI’m sure you are so ready for winter to be over. As you said, winter is so hard to understand these days. We are still waiting for our winter-like weather here. We’ve only had one snow storm to speak of. It was this past Saturday. They(the weather forecasters) are hinting at snow tonight. It was in the 50s today. Will it really happen? I hope so. We need moisture so badly.
ReplyDeleteWow you did get snow. Somehow we didn't get that storm (I promise I won't be grinning happily as I write that), but we might have one coming this weekend. I will say with the blue sky your photos look pretty, but 14 inches is a whole lot snow. I don't know about you but I am ready for spring I think when (not if) we get our next big storm I might cry. ReplyDeleteSitting in sunny California I enjoy your snow pictures very much. Even back in Germany I enjoyed sunny snowy days, but resented the gray days. I sometimes miss the snow, but not the driving in it and neither the shoveling.

ReplyDeleteI don't know how much we got during those several days when it snowed every day. We already had a noticeable amount of snow before the day when it really snowed and we got 6-8"? on top of what we already had.
So glad it did NOT rain yesterday -- it's enough water for the land to accommodate when this much snow melts, let alone have rain on top of it!
Gotta admit I'm happy to be out of it.

That is a lot of snow! You're much braver than I am so be out driving around in it like that. I hope it melts off quickly.
ReplyDeleteWe had a lot of snow at the end of January but February has been more quiet for us. The storm that hit you guys and Chicago missed us which I was ok with! I have to go to so many doctor appointments so the bad weather bothers me more (whereas before I was always taking the bus to work so didn't have to stress about driving in bad conditions!). We are supposed to get more snow on Sunday/Monday, though, but Phil and I are both off work for President's Day which will be nice!!

Those piles of snow are huge and amazing! Wow! The colors of the children's museum is so pretty in the white of the snow. That sheep put on his winter coat for sure.

ReplyDeletewe are in the midst of a snowstorm. 8" today and it is still snowing. Looks like another 3+" so far... time for bed. I will most likely be surprise when I wake up and see how much snow there is. I plowed the road at sunset, will need to again in the morning. Winter is going out with a show!

I love the sheep! That's just wonderful. But I liked seeing the piles of parking lot snow, too. Lots of memories there -- as well as a reality check. When I get too romantic about moving back to the land of ice and snow, I'll have another look, just to remind myself.

ReplyDeleteIt is strange, until quite recently, maybe 5 years, I was right into heavy snow. I think it reminded me of my childhood in Germany. Those statues! So amusing to see the reader and sheep burdened under feet of snow!
ReplyDeleteBut, just the last few years, I've decided I prefer it without snow, which is generally the way we get it here. We didn't really have the right clothes for a heavy unexpected snowfall in Amsterdam, but it was tough going, and I kept wondering if I was going to slip on the uncleared ice. I'm really glad spring is on the way! :)

Riding bike in the winter - I also can't imagine to make it, but I know a lot of people who do it. Here in Poland when I drive a car I have to watch out while crossing the bike road during winter time, because I see a lot of cyclists!
I'm freezing every time I see them haha! :D
