Finally, I'm as decorated as I'm going to be! (That's not true. I will probably be bringing things upstairs till Twelfth Night when I start taking it down again!)
Join me on a little home tour! The nice parts, not the cobwebs and piles of stuff. Come on in! (Cue the Music!)
(Warning! This is a long, picture-heavy post; I'm not sure how much time I'll have in the coming days with early family holiday celebrations so may as well get it all in at once!)
The Entry Hall
Some trees stay the same. Some change. This one has changed the most from being all white, silver and red in the past to -- well, a little of everything.
This year, a VERY little of everything. I skipped the wall tree with the small Radko and Shiny Brite ornaments and put them here instead, with a few other things, doing my best to keep it simple. I'll sort through what I didn't use this year to see if it makes the keep or share cut!
The Living Room
When you walk in, probably the first thing you see is the sofa! Poor sofa -- the cushions need restuffing! I took an idea from a fall post by Debra at Common Ground to cover it with a seasonal quilt. I look at it now and I'm happy! It may stay this way through Valentine's Day!
Also straight ahead is my happy tree. This is a favorite with some fairly old felt ornaments, some of my own felties, a few purchases and a garland of bright blue pompoms made by the granddaughter of a dear friend.
It's a flocked tree. (Note to self: When it goes back downstairs, to not wear black fleece while carrying it.)
A quick turn to the right and you see the Woodland tree.
I left a few things off this one this year, too. It's another favorite. My new bird looks right at home!
To the right of that, look up. My favorite Santa and his own little forest!
And finally, complete the turn. There you have the big tree. My life story in ornaments. Everything here is either from family or friends, handmade, old or purchased by me because it had some personal resonance, like the travel ornaments.
The kids helped decorate this year, and apart from moving a very few things (mostly for security!) I changed very little of it.
This tree always seems to look the same to the uninitiated, but I can tell the difference from year to year. And, it's a new tree! I found it for $65 on Facebook marketplace this year! Best bargain of the season. (Only bargain of the season!)
To the right of that, a table with my great grandfather's recipe book (a post on that is coming in the new year).
My Fontanini nativity is there, too. I only have a few pieces but treasure it.
In the dining area, the china cabinet has a small tree I made at Southern Exposure and another favorite Santa, all in front of my friend Wally's Wisteria in the Cotswolds photo.
The figurine is one of Mom's Royal Doultons. She comes out every Christmas.
This fat Santa is another favorite. The cat was a gift from my late friend Mary Jane.
Over my desk, a white Hummel angel, crystal and a portrait of my girl!
And finally, this jolly old elf I bought years ago on a visit to Flagstaff, AZ!
And yes, some Santas in the cupboard, too!
Even these two animal-loving ladies got a tree this year!
The Family Room
This room gets minor changes each year. This time, an angel my parents bought in Mexico, hangs over the mantel.
Rick says the mantel has too much stuff. He's probably right. Too bad! The swag over the fireplace is a Southern Exposure creation.
I bought the little gnome at the last farmer's market of the season up north.
Everything else is an old friend.
Here's my feltie tree...
...and for more light, some branches.
You've seen this one before! The dry sink with a woodland Santa...
...and wee lit churches. (I didn't show the bad corner again, which isn't as bad as it was a week ago.)
The Kitchen
This shelf sits atop the microwave.
....and this is the top of the baker's rack with its little cocoa and tea center. (Those towels wouldn't be my first choice for decor but they mask a mess of stuff that doesn't seem to fit much anywhere else!)
Also in the kitchen, a small shelf, this year focusing on my nesting dolls.
The Bedroom
The Mary Engelbreit quilt is back on this year, after a break in 2021.
And my pottery nativity, a gift from a friend who was downsizing a few years ago, by the window.
It stands next to dad's memory tree.
So there you have it! A house decorated -- literally -- one step at a time as bringing up things from the basement was especially challenging this year. But at some point in the not too distant future, I will be downsizing and not able to have room to store all this. So I want to do it up as best I can, while I can.
I'll be visiting as much as I can and maybe even getting up another post. Till then...
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

I think the theme of family and friends brings a lot of your decor together. I love the quilt you put over your couch! I'd be tempted to keep that out all winter. I love all your little displays and I'm a sucker for a woodland Santa. I like that the boys helped to decorate your tree! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get your matroyshka dolls??
ReplyDeleteLove it all. Your home is pajama-worthy. 😊 Ha ha. I am trying to say it looks comfy!
Merry Christmas, Jeanie, to you and yours.
A wonderfully festive post. Have a great day today.
ReplyDeleteIt's just amazing what you did. I'm impressed. You have more energy than I do, that's for sure. Enjoy the holidays!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour.
I also like to cover the sofa, and even beds with a nice , usually hand-made souvenir quilt.
I like trees and Santas of all kinds and sizes, and you've got quite a variety of them!
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Jeanie!
Wow! That's a lotta decorating!
ReplyDeleteLove it all. Your home is holiday impressive.
Wonderful! I hope you enjoy every minute of the holidays.

I love your exuberance!
ReplyDeleteHello Jeanie,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tour, your decorations are so pretty. I always enjoy seeing the lights outside at night. I especilally like the angel from Mexico and the Santa with the forest. Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Wow!! you ended up doing lots of decorating-It all looks wonderful and ready for the Christmas holiday. Loving the vintage quilt too hugs
ReplyDeleteThat was a delightful tour! I enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI love that, "Too bad!"
Your home looks festive! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun post Jeanie. Your house looks amazing and very very festive! I love all the trees. I talk about getting another one and my husband cringes-smile. The only thing I wish I had done is put some fairy lights around my fireplace garland before I put it up. OH well; it is what it is this year. And I like how your couch looks with that great quilt too. Our old couch had a big hole and we used to leave a quilt on it. It even looks more cozy to do that I think. Thanks for sharing these. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I had a great time looking at all your decorations Jeanie. Fabulous collections indeed!
ReplyDeleteJeanie, you have been busy!!! I really enjoyed seeing all of your hard work. Your lovely Christmas teapot and Christmas Emma mugs are so nice. I know everyone will love coming into your Christmas magical home.
ReplyDeleteYou showed us the festive yet dazzling photos that just make my day even better before it starts!
ReplyDeleteWow, your house looks very festive. You did a wonderful job decorating your house, now you can enjoy your festive masterpiece. Well done, Jeanie.
ReplyDeleteI loved your Life Story tree! That's what we have but it's a little sparse now that my girls have their own ornaments. And something I've been thinking about the last few weeks, I've got everything I need. At my age I'm purging stuff. So what I plan to tell my family next year is to just buy me ornaments for Christmas. Ornaments that spark a memory of a family vacation, a family members hobby, pets we've had through the years... so yes, a Life Story tree!
ReplyDeleteI noticed your DeGrazia painting. My mom used to have quite a few of them. (She died in 2005.) She loved his paintings. What a sweet memory you gave me!
What a forest! I like best the towel with the cat's point of view on it. (If anyone strapped little antlers on Serena, it wouldn't be the tree she attacked.) Merry Christmas to youall.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting your lovely decorations and home. I loved every bit I took some time to click on pictures to see the details. I love your mantle and that angel is just wonderful!!!!
ReplyDeleteCathy
Everything is beautifully decorated for Christmas Jeanie. I love it all and I can see it was a lot of work so kudos to you! The stunning quilt on your sofa is perfect as a Christmas and Valentine's coverlet. Enjoy your Christmas with loved ones and those twinkling lights. xx
ReplyDeleteI thought I figured out a way to post blogger comments again but my last try did not work so let me try again. I think you've done a fantastic job of decorating and everything looks so beautiful. Your quilt is stunning and a perfect sofa cover up for the holiday season. Enjoy. xx
ReplyDeleteEverything looks fantastic Jeanie. Well done. xx
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!! You really go all out! Beautiful, have a wonderful Holiday season!
ReplyDeleteYou have the most festive house I've ever seen! I enjoy all of your seasonal decorating throughout the year.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly go all out.
ReplyDeleteWow! You really do decorate every room. I love seeing it all but would never have the patience to put it all up and tear it all down every year--lol! Looks wonderful, though. :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous, so much hard work, too. Have BIG fun, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteOh wow! My mother-in-law has just started a travel ornament tree - she was in Canada in May and met a lady on the trip who buys something on every trip, so she's doing the same. She's been to Istanbul and Jordan this year too, so has got a few bits already. Happy Christmas from France x
ReplyDeleteI don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like this. It’s a Wonderland that must be even more jaw-dropping lay impressive in reality. You must have a big house just to be able to store all of this. Enjoy the season.
ReplyDeleteLoooooooooove it all ❤️🎄❤️🎄❤️🎄❤️! Your home is wonderful!!! I enjoy so so man pictures in your post…have a nice time till Christmas love from us 🍀❤️🎄🐾🍀
ReplyDeleteThis truly is your time of the year! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, but I look really forward to your great grandfather's recipe book!
Looking at all your trees and decorations makes me feel like a child in a candy store of wonder. I could spend hours going from one place/tree to another to see what I discover. It is all magical. Enjoy and enjoy your Christmas festivities. Sending love, m
ReplyDeleteI love all the memories Christmas stars. Your lifetime collection is amazing, Jeanie. Very festive, colorful, and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully festive and personal!
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, I am in awe. Your home is a Christmas wonderland. I have cleaned out over the years and am down to one tree (from two), downsized to a smaller one, and donated more things last year. You must have spent hours on this! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThat’s the spirit ..doing it while best we can. It’s a gift lent to us.Not to be taken for granted.
ReplyDeleteA great festive house tour..I loved.. when Rick says it’s too busy..too badNo dismantling after the fact lol. That’s overwhelming to me.
Let it be..let it be…let it be.
The quilt is a fab addition.
Happy days to you.
Wow, you really go all-out! Very impressive! I like the Mary Engelbreit quilt (and clearly the cat does too). I also approve of your musical accompaniment. :)
ReplyDeleteJeanie, Where do you find your energy? I’ve gone simple for the last few years, but I’ve enjoyed seeing all your wonderful eye-candy you’ve decorated with! I especially love your red and white quilt on your sofa, the large photo of you on the wall with Santa, and your woodland theme tree and Santa. Just too many to mention. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYour home looks beautifully warm, cheery and inviting Jeanie :-)
ReplyDeleteI always love the Christmas tour of your home. My favorite is the woodland tree. I like that your ornaments and Christmas figurines all have a story and bring back good memories for you. We are also decorated but minimally because of the cast on my ankle. Bob brought the Santas and our little tree out of storage, and little by little we got everything placed where we can enjoy it. I plan to keep the Santas out through January. I gave half my Santa collection away during Covid, but the beautiful ones Bob's mother bought for me long, long ago I kept. I think of her when I unwrap them each year.
ReplyDeleteJeanie, your home is all decked out for Christmas beautifully. so many collections. Very festive. Such a lovely quilt. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI love how you surround yourself with so many happy memories at Christmas: each tree, each ornament has a story that connects you with family and friends. Very tempting, I suspect, to keep it all up until it's time again to return to the lake, right? Hope you have a great week ahead... and, if we don't connect again until later: Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour :) I love those brightly lit reindeer antlers. And wow! You have so many seasonal decorations and so many trees. A wonderland!
ReplyDeleteVery festive indeed! How cute the cardinal with the Santa hat. Also love the quilt idea and yes keep it out til Valentines. Janice
ReplyDeleteoh Jeanie, I absolutely love it all!!! and I"m so happy you found a quilt to use on your sofa! Perfect. All your ornaments are wonderful and I love the History attached. You must have tons of energy to decorate all those trees. They're beautiful. Happy Christmas Week, friend. Enjoy it to the fullest!!
ReplyDeletelove all your trees and decorations. you have been busy. Love the two little old ladies! merry festive season to you.
ReplyDeletelove all your trees and decorations. you have been busy! love the two little old ladies. Merry festive season to you!
ReplyDeleteSuch a delightful tour!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your fun and festive decorations, Jeanie.
Hugs and blessings!
You should have been a window decorator. Your house looks like every child's dream. Have a good holiday!
ReplyDeleteI loved this look at your decorations so much! Everything looks so happy and cheery and cozy. I love your woodland tree! And your Royal Doulton. I have one that was my mother's - I love it and I think it looks so much like my mom as a young woman.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your holidays Jeanie!!
Jeanie you have been a busy Christmas elf! Your tree collection is impressive, and happiness fills every available space! What does your sweet kitty think of all the decor, does she bat at the ornaments with her paw? Have a very Merry Christmas week!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Oh, Jeanie. How fun....we are low key this year without much company coming-we had all the other holidays this year and a few major gatherings besides. Love all your fun Christmas, and I know what you mean about down-sizing and stairs. We wore ourselves out doing the outside and we even have a pulley system in the garage to lower/raise big totes up and down! Hope you have a lovely Christmas. I've switched browsers and now seem to have better connecting for comments. Hugs and have Happiest Holidays! Sandi
ReplyDeleteWow! What a celebration you have- in every room! I am impressed, and full of joy. Enjoy the spirit of season!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jeanie, for the tour of you holiday decorated home. What I especially liked was that some of the things in your collections are from family and friends and so hold special memories. That is the same for me with a nativity set and nutcrackers that I had gifted to my late mother and now display in my home. Seeing them gives me joy as I am sure seeing the pieces you showed does for you. The happy tree does look very happy, but so did all of the other trees and what joy they must bring...as it should be at this special time of year.
ReplyDeleteYou are right in saying there is much to do and many of us, myself included, may not get to "regular" blog reading. I hope that you and Rick and families have a wonderful Christmas.
Jeanie, your home reflects you so beautifully! I love all of your trees, each one so special. The quilt on the sofa is fabulous, it caught my eye immediately. The Fontanini and pottery Nativities are amazing. Thanks so much for sharing! Merry Week!
ReplyDeleteYour decor is making me smile tonight! I love your flocked tree and the felt ornaments. :D Later in the week I'm posting the Christmas tree I want to buy, and it's flocked, too.
ReplyDeleteEverything is so bright and cheerful. I love all your trees. Your home is so cozy and happy.
ReplyDeleteI love how festive and inviting your home is around the holidays. There is so much beauty to take in! But oh my gosh, it is so much work!! But when it's something you enjoy, it probably doesn't feel like work! I love that the littles helped you decorate. Paul helped with our tree this year and we had so much fun together!!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so beautiful. That tree is marvelous.
ReplyDeleteJeanie, if you lived in my town, they'd have you on the Christmas tour of homes! Stunning. I especially like the tree with all the ornaments with personal ties.
ReplyDeleteFabulous.
ReplyDeleteLovely.
Wow.
It all looks so good.
Merry Christmas to you :)
All the best Jan
Thanks for sharing this tour of your home. It’s wonderfully decorated for the festive season. I love it!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Merry Christmas from Karen in Canada.
ReplyDeleteI was waiting for “a walk through”…
ReplyDeleteI love your story corners, Santa’s, ME quilt
birds, kittens, shelves, nesting dolls, ALL.
We think alike in this season with
memories and trees and treasures.
I keep thinking, do things differently
but I seem to repeat it all year after year.
I do need a new tree though . . .
Happy those strong winds outside
we’re not inside . . . my tree would be gone gone!
Merry Christmas Jeanie, Rick too.
Happy Healthy New Year.
love
lynne
Everything looks so festive and cozy! I enjoy taking house tours. Love the feltie tree, did you make them all, you are so talented!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Hugs, Liz
Oh Jeanie, I don't know where to start. It all looks so festive and wonderful. Ok, I'll start with your Mary Engelbreit quilt - LOVE THAT! I just found out that Jess bought me the Mary Engelbreit calendar for next year. Oh, how I wanted that. Your trees are beautiful, and I love the fact that you still have the colored lights. Most people have the white lights, and to me, the colored lights are magical. That was a great idea to use the quilt on your sofa. It looks nice and cozy. The pretty red cardinal really shows up on your Woodland tree. I think my favorite was the tree with "life story" ornaments. Those homemade ones from loved ones are my favorite. What a dear photo of your grandson decorating the tree. Your pottery nativity set is lovely. I would have to keep up that Royal Doultons lady all year around, love her. I really like the old ladies too, they're delightful. Your fireplace always warms my heart - it's so charming. My mom had a brick fireplace, and I miss that. I think the angel from Mexico looks nice hanging above. It all looks so Christmassy, and I think your cat enjoys all the decorations too.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you, dear Jeanie.
~Sheri
Such a happy Christmas home, Jeanie! So many pretty displays! I love the felt ornaments that you made - they are so precious. I do love your Christmas quilt on the sofa, too. Everything must be so magical at night with the lights glowing all around. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year! xx K
ReplyDeleteYour home really is all Christmassy (can you even say that?). One can see that you love Christmas and that you enjoy decorating your home. It will be a lot of work to put it all away again, but enjoy your festive home - how can you not get into the Christmas spirit here? Lovely post, Jeanie, and thank you for sharing your home with us.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love to see your Christmas decorations Jeanie, you really turn your house into a Christmas wonderland. I bet the grand kids adore it! Your felt ornaments tree and your tree with family heirlooms are certainly special. Have a wonderful Christmas and healthy and happiness for the New Year.
ReplyDeleteAll of the personal stories and memories behind each object is so special. I'm looking forward to the post about your great-grandfather's recipes. In case I don't catch up on all your posts before Christmas, I will wish you a very Merry Christmas, filled with joy!
ReplyDeleteWow, you really go all in for Christmas. So nice. What a Christmas tree, wonderful. I love Christmas and usually decorate a little bit. Not even close to you. This year it was minimalistic since we are spending Christmas and New Year in Portugal. Hope you had a great Christmas and wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR and all the best for 2023.
