While on my walk I was amused by this gathering of ducks across from the ditch -- and the sign leaning against the tree.
Someone has been leaving seed for the birds there. I like that person!
And this little bird has a "bird's eye" view of everything!
Leaves are tumbling at far too fast a rate for my taste! But they make a wonderful sound when you drag your feet through them.
The squirrels are scurrying with great abandon, hoarding nuts for their winter larder.
This year I feel doubly blessed, seeing gorgeous color up north early in the month, and then this color down state now.
I stopped at a pumpkin farm that was offering cider and donuts. There were crowds, but not at the cider stand so I masked up and got a treat!
I resisted the mums -- it was hard, but I did!
But they were incredibly lush and full.
But I couldn't resist taking some photos of the brilliantly colored gourds!
On the home front I've been cleaning the art room and baking a lot -- lemon bread, pumpkin bread and and apple bread. The house smells so good when I bake!
Be careful out there. The virus is casting a long shadow. Stay safe and well.

ReplyDeleteWOW what a pallet of color! Duck crossing is hilarious, pretty sure that they are not aware of "menu"- thanks for the recipes, I have made a similar cake "german apple cake" and it is so good that it could kill you!

I love the pumpkins and gourds, and have to confess I would have scooped up a couple of 'mums in orange for my porch. I love the artiness of the last picture. Our clocks already went back.

I was interested to note that someone leaves bird seed around the area. Along the Mill Race Trail a woman does this every morning as far as I can tell, and not in order to draw the birds in close for better viewing, for she deposits the piles of seed and moves on, but seemingly is motivated solely by a desire to help wild creatures. It is encouraging to know that there are still such people around.
ReplyDeleteIf I think of quintessential America, it's always a picture of Autumn with the Fall colours, pumpkins, apples, mums and all that goes with that. The red barn, the roadside produce stalls, just so lovely, my favorite time of year and I got married in October. Lovely pictures and I love the ducks.

Glad you got to enjoy all the Autumn colours for so long because of technically seeing the seasons change twice. At least that helps it feel like it lasts longer.
ReplyDeleteOur clocks already changed. With us it's always the last full weekend of October, and the last full weekend of March. So ours changed last weekend.

We had Zeta make tracks through Alabama and left a lot of trees down and a lot of damage. We were fortunate here with only a lot of rain. It was so hot and humid up until the storm, the good thing, cool autumn temps now. I love to walk through the leaves and listen to the sound it makes. Beautiful photos Jeanie........

At least some remain as we didn't have any rain. The kids want to meet us somewhere for lunch. We haven't done anything like that yet so we are thinking about it. Now I want cider and doughnuts -- or, even better, cider doughnuts. I ran into that particular treat on my last trip to the midwest, and if you think I could work my way through a bag of those things, you'd be right!

That Apple bread sounds so good! I am missing treats right now but will make up for it in December! We have so many green leaves on the ground thanks to our October snow. I am glad it’s a little warmer today - in the 30s now and will be around 54 this afternoon but it’s supposed to be very windy. Bleh. But next week there are 60s in the forecast!! Woo hoo!
