Up-North is my creative place. It's easier for me to write, to paint, to do just about anything. This summer has been no exception. Someone told me when I posted the photo of the house from Martha's Vineyard, I should show a little more of my art. Be careful what you ask for!
As you might guess, Lizzie is one of my favorite subjects!
Some work out better than others.
Below is my friend Kate's cat Zeke. Earlier I showed you this one... it has a wonky eye. This was my re-do. And it's still not right. I'll be doing this one again.
This pink poppy was from a photo I took in Giverny.
This summer butterfly was from a photo taken last summer. I confess, the sunflower isn't the best.
Last year I did a birthday card for Rick similar to this one, which is for a friend who lives and cycles in Colorado.
Birds? Sure! Gotta love the chickadee!
As I've been remembering Paris for the Paris in July series, I thought I'd do one of the view from my friend Jerry's old apartment. (We both still wish he lived there!)
And finally, another Paris shot -- the cafe where Rick and I enjoyed a delightful meal out in Paris. I'm not totally happy with this one... but it does have the feel.
Oops. I need to put in the name of the cafe! Ah well, c'est la vie!
Beautiful. I especially love the Paris postcards.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely WONDERFUL!!! The lake agrees!!! Beautiful paintings!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun subject matter. Lizzie is adorable in art as well as in life. Janice
ReplyDeleteI so envy you your cottage get-away! Perfect place for art, writing and spoiling kitties.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colors! And I really like your use of line (especially in the butterfly and the view from your friend Jerry's apartment). These are a great treat -- looking forward to seeing more. Looks like the lake is good for your spirit...
ReplyDeleteLovely, Jeanie! Did you take lessons in watercolour? Or are you self-taught? I've never tried, but my sister is incredibly talented and has used many mediums. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented! I especially like Zeke, and the last painting of the Parisian café.

I love your art! It appears so "light", so easy, as if just thrown in, but with exact beauty.
ReplyDeleteThe glasses, the bottle, the way you present the hair, the architecture, nature, Lizzie, of course.
Oh, I´d start at zero again.
Thank you for showing yours!
Hello Jeanie,
ReplyDeleteYou are talented. I love Lizzie, the poppy, the flower with the butterfly and the chickadee! Beautiful Paris scenes and the cyclist is great. They are all beautiful, very creative. Have a great day!
You are nothing if not prolific, Jeanie. As you might imagine I choose the chickadee as my favourite, but your impressions of Paris have a very Parisian kind of touch to them. As this pandemic continues to drag on, I am starting to wonde if we will ever see Paris again.
ReplyDeleteI finally got back online late last night and was treated to these incredible works of art this morning. I love them all, but the Paris scene and the cats are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteLizzie and flowers would be my constant subject if I were you - both make me smile. I do love your watercolors! Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures! Especially the ones of Lizzie.
ReplyDeleteGod loves you. He has given you many gifts: beauty, intelligence, kindness and creativity.
ReplyDeleteI love all your pictures; my favorite, however, is the bicycle rider.
Keep up the creative work!
I absolutely love seeing your art!
ReplyDeleteLove how you work out your creativity in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteJeanie, I always enjoy your art. I do love the Paris cafe scene. Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteYour artistic talent never ceases to amaze me, Jeanie!
ReplyDeleteI love these paintings. They are lovely, and I can see you enjoyed making them. I hope you will continue to include more on your blog in future posts.
ReplyDeleteYour watercolor technique is really impressive! You exploit the “water”look for such transparent effects. shows a steady hand.

That Lizzie, such a purrfect model:)
ReplyDeleteOh, I LOVE the Paris paintings!
ReplyDeleteJeanie, I so enjoy seeing your talent on display here! I really love the Parisian Cafe that is last! So much detail in that beauty.
ReplyDeleteSo colorful, so fun, it's like they are just flowing from youi! My favorite is the scene from where you went out to eat! You have brought Paris back to me!
ReplyDeleteSuch fun paintings Jeanie. Do you think you are more productive because you are away and feel less tied to a calendar? I enjoyed seeing your art. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Jeanie! How wonderful to be painting at the lake!
ReplyDeleteJeanie, I love your art. The one of dear Lizzie with her head tilted is adorable. And Zeke appears to have such a sweet personality. The chickadee is perfect and the Paris apartment view certainly invites me to visit.
ReplyDeleteHappy day to you, I hope it is cool at the lake. Enjoy!
I'm glad you're able to be creative. It's good for the soul, especially in times like now.
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing your art too Jeanie. The lake seems the perfect place to paint, relaxed and no distractions! Enjoy..........
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job on that precious chickadee.
ReplyDeleteJeanie, what a perfect place for creativity. Love all your paintings. Little momentos from time well spent..Stay well.xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteOh Jeanie, your art is absolutely stunning! I love them all. You have continued to grow with your art and the results are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHope this note finds you well.
Blessings,
Penny
I love your watercolors, especially the Paris ones (by the way, your link from Tamara's post links to your post about seagulls at the lake, but not a Paris in July post). The poppy is spectacular, it looks like a "Lauren's grape".
ReplyDelete❤️

ReplyDeleteGosh your work is fun, colourful & joyful. Your paris scenes are tres parisienne! Id hang any of these... unique and yet truly identifiable.. and reflective of happier times
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous. I love the pink poppy and the cats.
ReplyDeleteJeanie, Beautiful watercolors! Thanks for sharing and have a great week. Sylvia D.
ReplyDeleteThanks jeanie for showing us what is your happy place -- your art. I can understand that you feel more creative at the cottage and the Paris watercolors were my faves.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing your art too. These are charming and fun, because they are full of your memories and life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat to see a round up of your paintings Jeanie! You capture Lizzy beautifully! I especially love the butterfly one too, and the Paris window. I want to draw and paint more cityscapes and cafes, I love the challenge of breaking down a complex scene into a paintable version...you have inspired me to get back to it! 🎨😘
ReplyDeleteJenna
These art pieces are fantastic! I can't pick a favorite, I really like them all. But that Pink bloom speaks to me. : )
ReplyDelete~Sheri
I'm loving your paintings. They're wonderful! :)
ReplyDeleteI can see why you are most creative up at the lake! Life moves more slowly up there and there are fewer distractions. I love all the art you shared, especially the Paris ones of course!!
ReplyDeleteLovely art, lovely paintings.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to choose a favourite, but gave up.
They are all my favourite!
All the best Jan
