The last Southern Exposure visit of the season is always a little bit melancholy and a lot of fun! This was no exception!
It was dark when we arrived. No photos of the garden but then there was nothing much to photograph there anyway!
The Quiet Moon was out and looking beautiful between the red berries. Since we were the first to arrive (and the last to leave) it was quiet indeed!
Our first stop? The gift shop!
There were lots of pretties inside but I managed to be relatively restrained!
Time to head over for dinner!
But first, a peek into the activity tent to get a sneak peek of our project. No such luck!
We started with a lovely riff on a Cosmo cocktail, followed by a delicious dinner of Asian sweet and sour pork. Dessert? Peppermint creme brulee!
Don't they set a pretty table?
The dining room mantel, as always, was lovely!
Then on to the tent for our project. The workshop was called "Tie it with a Bow" and we learned how to make those lovely bows floral designers use in their work.
Our work space was set out with everything we'd need.
We wired the swag pieces together with florist wire and spent most of our time making (and remaking and remaking again till we got it right -- or close!) the bow.
Here's what their version of the end project looked like!
A little better than mine, but no complaints! It was a great workshop, pretty project and now, on to the next fun holiday thing!
Merry, Merry!
That last photo should be your Christmas card next year. Simply beautiful! Southern Exposure sure knows how to please their groupies like you and other customers. LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun look at the final Southern Exposure workshop of the year. Lovely photos, and great project. I think your bow is brilliant. Better than the ones I make. Happy, happy and merry, merry.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks wonderful! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWhat a quote, so true!
ReplyDeleteAnd WOW, that car!!!! And at first it looks like it´s hanging magically in the air, too, great shot!
Beautiful work you got done, I love it!
You make me smile, thank you!
How wonderful to have such a pretty swag you crafted yourself. Making the bow reminded me of decorating for the National Trust's Christmas displays in the shop where I worked and the instructions for, probably thousands of, identical bows to be tied for the trees. The instructions? Martha Stewart's perfect bow. That made me smile, for no one other than I had heard of her where I worked.

Looks like a joyful event. So festive! And fun and yummy too. I made those drum ickers yesterday as well as the jingle bells. Yummy! Thank for sharing them. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful. The bow looks great. I know how hard it to make one of them, as I spent a lot of time on youtube trying to make one a couple of years ago. The workshop must have been great too.

ReplyDeleteL♥VE!! I also love your quiet moments you always seem to capture by going early. Thank you for sharing. I'll miss SE too!
ReplyDeleteOh Jeanie, I know how much you look forward these events. This one looks like a lot of fun creating those festive swags. Dinner must have tasted delicious! Enjoy using your swag for years to come. Great pics........
ReplyDeleteWhat fun you had! Plus look what you got to go home with, I'm jealous! It looks beautiful. I loved the car with the lit tree on it, now that would be a terrific yard art piece.
ReplyDeleteYou showed us the dining room, Jeanie, and indeed it looks lovely, but you didn't tell us what you ate. I am sure it must have been delicious. I suspect that for some at least a festive dinner might even be the main attraction. Last night we had dinner with friends, and Graham, the husband extraordinaire and damn good chef too, prepared a feast as he always does. But the nibbles ahead of the meal included a really good gorgonzola cheese. I found out where they bought it, and sometime in the next few days I am going back to the bakery for another loaf of olive bread and together with the cheese, a couple of glasses of wine and maybe some Burgundy ham, that is going to be dinner. I'll catch up on the broccoli later!
ReplyDeleteLovely outing! Cute pics of you..always!
