Mural Monday: England -- London's Portobello Road 1

Today I'm joining Sami and all at Colourful World's weekly Mural Monday.


Our visit takes us to London's Portobello Road where this image greeted me from a tall building on the corner of Lancaster and Portobello roads.


As always, I marvel how these are done on such tall buildings and the detail work. Can anyone translate what the characters on her hand mean?

    We do see murals here, but in nowhere near the profusion in Europe and I am not quite sure why. They can do so much to enliven an otherwise dull cityscape and make downtrodden areas look so much brighter. Now, you are an artist, Jeanie. Perhaps your next challenge is murals. Lansing will never look the same again.

    I love to look at wall murals, but only if they exude goodness. Now, I'm wondering what the message is on her hands. Let me know if you ever find out. : ) There is a wall mural in the town I grew up in with a bunch of red roses. Fitting for me, isn't it? But they are all faded, and I think the city should liven them up a bit.

    Wow, that mural is gorgeous! I'm also super impressed by large scale murals like that! Such talent! I love how some cities tend to have a lot of murals. I have friends that live in Calgary and they seem to have a lot of murals throughout their city!

    WOW...this is beautiful!! I hope they keep it up there! There's not much in the way muruals in our town, but neighboring Sandefjord has them... so much fun, I think!     It has been awhile since we've been to London so I haven't seen this mural. We have seen them in France and yes, it's amazing how they do this. No telling what the message is on her hands!
