Signs of Spring

I saw the first bunny of spring this past week -- and the first robins, too. OK, so it's 20 at night. At least there are signs of spring!

Other signs of spring? How about the giant chocolate bunny at our local confectioners?

Evil, hungry squirrels? (OK, not so evil, but annoying!)

Easter baskets?

Easter eggs?

Pretty table linens (Thank you, Rita, for this and more!)?

Pizza with friends?

Birthday celebrations for two?

Springtime table settings?

More bunnies?

Easter egg hunts?

Grandpa time?

Being with my tribe?

Totally unbelievable desserts? (Nigella's chocolate meringue truffle cake)

A Baby Grand celebrating his first Easter dinner with "real" food?

More birthdays?

Hugs?

And more hugs?

We're kind of enjoying this Baby Grand  (Well, "kind of" is definitely an understatement!) -- and he seems to like us!

Yes, these are signs of spring ...

... and we're loving it!

  2. Great post - I do hope that Spring comes soon for you. Saw on the news this am that there is another snow storm. Hope that it misses you.

We are having nice weather, a little chilly this am, I know I am a sissy.

Have a great week - everything looked wonderful. Stop by and see my signs of Spring on my latest blog.

    Hugs,
    Mary

  6. These are great pictures. (I’m currently on the side of squirrels being evil).

  7. As always, your decorations and table are beautiful. I love your spring dishes.

I wonder if anyone bought the 75 pound chocolate bunny? I imagine the logistics of that would be a little complicated. Especially if you have piggy pets like we do.

  8. Why do grandchildren have to grow up, start shaving, then stop and grow whiskers (a beard would be generous), have girlfriends they’d rather spend time with, text ad infiniitum? I think we should arrest their development right around eight years of age!

  9. And I love your post and all of you. So glad it was a happy Easter.

  14. I like your style...finding Spring everywhere. I laughed at the annoying squirrels. :-) I'm so happy you are back to feeling good again and enjoying the holidays. What a darling grandson you guys have. And I love 'around the table' photos. About that cake...did you save me a piece? I know you have my address. ha!

  18. Sooo much SWEET, Jeanie! LOVED these scenes from your Easter... That table cloth with the embroidered pink birds--soo cute? Is that an heirloom, or heirloom find at a flea market, maybe? Your bunny illustration is WONDERFUL!! Lil' C has grown so much--goodness how adorable he is! I was eager to see what dessert you made this year! Nigella Lawson does some awesome dessert recipies, doesn't she?! Oh, and 75 lbs of chocolate bunny--wow... that's...HUGE... LOL! And so is it's price tag--ouch. But good chocolate, does cost. :/ HAPPY EASTER WEEK to you all there :))) ((HUGS))

I think you make a terrific Easter bunny - I never knew the Easter bunny was into organic brown rice! I love learning new trivia! And I love your marbled eggs - beautiful!
Your grandson is also beautiful - what a grand head of blonde hair! I used to have that color hair - now my hair stylist helps me retain it :P.
Squirrels!?! Bah. Rats with pretty tails as far as I'm concerned LOL.
Thanks for sharing your light at the end of the tunnel, Spring-wise!

  22. No, no, no! Squirrels are sweet! Squirrels are entertaining and dependable topics of conversation! Squirrels help people find new ways to say, "Thieving, obnoxious little bandit!"

Any Easter that allows for both pizza and an egg hunt's a good one. I'm glad your day was so great!

  23. Enjoyed all the family pics! So cute! And squirrels ARE evil. I hate them. They shred my gazebo screens almost every summer. BUT, it is nice to see and hear the Robins. Love waking up now and hearing birds singing! We are supposed to have snow tomorrow. Ugggggg....

  24. Jeanie, I enjoyed strolling through your happy spring photos. We are a little further along than you, our azaleas and the dogwood blooming. We usually have bunnies in the beds but I haven't seen them, only the screeching they do along with the squirrels . Leaves mulch on the walkway so it looks messy. Yes, spring so I'm not complaining. Your baby grand is fast growing into a little boy. He is a doll..........Have a great week.

  36. Hi Jeanie! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and commenting. I am pleased to meet you. What a sweet spring post. And I can not believe my eyes with that giant chocolate bunny! I'm afraid that if I bit him, he'd bite me back!

  37. Wonderful glimpses of your sweet Easter.
    The pizza looks yum.
Such a dear painting at the end.
My squirrels have learned to climb the pole my feeders hang on. This morning it was so icy that the squirrel would get 2/3 way up and then slide on down, over and over again. Then it licked it's paws and was able to climb right up. Pretty clever.

  38. Jeanie, what a beautiful post! And your "annoying" squirrel looks far too well fed to be bothering your bird feeders - shoo!

  45. These are all wonderful signs of spring! Our squirrels love to visit the bird feeders, too. Now I have a caged feeder for the smaller birds and a regular one for everyone else, including the squirrels... It seems that everybody is happy now.
75 pounds of chocolate? Oh my...

  50. Baby Grand is a doll. He is at such a great age. And it just gets better as he gets older and more interactive!!

I have to look really hard for signs of spring. There is snow everywhere I look and we might get 3-7” more tonight. We got 10” earlier this week. Sooo depressing. I was hoping the weather would be nice enough on Paul’s baptism that people could hang out on our deck. But we will definitely still have snow. It’s going to be cramped in our house with 18 people but oh well! I know everyone will understand and people probably won’t stay too long. ;)

  52. Looks like Spring is being good to you, Jeanie! How fast he has grown from a tiny babe into a toddler. it doesn't seem that fast when you're experiencing it, I know, but how wonderful new life is. Pizza with friends sounds like a lovely idea - you all look so happy! I'm on a diet kick now so I would be reluctantly passing on the beautiful Nigella dessert... sigh... still, it's nice to imagine....

  53. Your little grand son is just adorable. I am sure it must be such a special time for him to experience his first Easter and to have you along. We had a strange first Easter here in NY. The weather was really off and everything was so different from what we were used to. But I guess it is time to make some new traditions. Happy Belated Easter Jeanie!

  54. Glad you're starting to see signs of Spring.

  55. I really like the way you've decorated your Easter Eggs! They're so colorful!
I'm not decorating Eggs right now, I haven't done this since I finished junior high school!
And my daughter made it in daycare, so we actually missed this tradition this year too. But I should think about returning to this. Maja loves to make some creative things and this one is actually quite easy for her I think.
How did you make these pastel colors? :)
I also saw few rabbits here! I'm living close to the forest, so there is a lot of animals nearby. Sometimes I'm afraid of them, boar can be dangerous, especially when there are piglets too.
