My leftovers are the photos leading up to and through the holiday!
Thanksgiving itself was a double whammy! On Thursday it was Rick, Lizzie and me. Lizzie clearly has a love affair with Rick. She's all over him like a wet blanket with her big old happy-cat purr!
Friday we headed to Kevin and Molly's where we enjoyed Thanksgiving with the kids and Molly's family.
They were great hosts. Molly made clever place cards from corks -- I love cork projects! And we all contributed to a non-turkey dinner, which was great after turkey the day before! And of course, game playing was on the menu, too!
Of course there was time for a family portrait.
Or two.
I've been decorating for Christmas -- some of that started before the holidays with a trip to the greens market.
Oh, it was beautiful!
And then my friend Jan and I stopped at our favorite store, Gardenviews, in Northville, MI.
I keep saying that I won't get new Christmas. But I always do.
It was like a magical fairyland -- exceptionally good this year!
And now I'm working on bringing some of that magic home. Of course, a visit to Southern Exposure this week (and next week, too!) will help!
So stay tuned! The gloves are off -- Let the merriment begin.
Yes, indeed, it looks like your merriment has already begun! I cooked all week while kids were visiting, but on Thanksgiving we went to a restaurant buffet, and it was fabulous - something for everyone and I didn't have to make it. Bob and I have now managed to eat anything leftover from last week and had to go to the grocery store early this AM because it was Old Mother Hubbard's Cupboards around here. I still haven't put any Christmas decorations out, except for the antique sled and wreath on the front porch. Maybe tomorrow? I've scrolled through some of your posts that I missed and am getting some good decorating tips, Jeanie.

ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful weekend! That was nice of Kevin and Molly to host! And good call on doing a non-turkey meal. We did the same when I hosted on Friday and then again on Saturday at Phil's. I love turkey but I can only have so much of it!
ReplyDeleteThose holiday decorations are so beautiful! I wasn't feeling in the Christmas spirit but now that the tree is up and the snow has started to fall, the spirit has arrived - or at least I feel a bit more in the spirit! And some of the gifts I ordered on Friday have arrived so I have wrapped them as I am trying to wrap things as they come in so my tree looks more festive and I avoid having to wrap everything in one go!
So glad you had a marvelous Thanksgiving, Jeanie! We had oodles of leftovers here too. My husband has a big appetite, so they are gone already. lol. Just as well, because i ate too much to begin with and didn't need the leftovers. (Though they are indeed yummy!) I love your photos of Rick and Lizzie! She sure us a gorgeous kitty. And she is so loved. Best thing of all. :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Your family photos are awesome. Our Thanksgiving was great. It was quiet for the most part, but we spent the time with family part of the time, and that makes everything great.
ReplyDeleteLove the greens, and I so love the decorations that have white theme. I'd love to do that, but I simply don't want to spend money of Christmas decorations. Maybe next year...
Thanksgiving is not such a big part of our lives here in Aus - but I like your previous post - thanksgiving everyday. Looks like you and your family had a great weekend - and had some fun with silly photos too. I never do decorations to even a 10th of what you do - but this year I'm getting inspired to think about something more than normal. Keep posting your deco's and I'll take some inspiration.

ReplyDeleteYour weekend looks like it was just so special. How wonderful to have the kids take over a meal during the weekend. That shop is just gorgeous. I would have been drooling and definitely would have come home with something sparkly. The older I get the more sparkles I love.

ReplyDeleteIt is always very special to have TWO holidays. I love it when we have Christmas dinner with friends early - we will do so twice this year so have the full traditional Christmas meal. But our actual Christmas dinner will not be the traditional one at all - and that will make it even more special as it will just be close family, and we will make our favourite family meal which also involves salad...
