So, I'm with my friend Kate at one of her friend's homes. Cheri has become a Mary Kay consultant and she needs faces to practice on. The payoff is a tour of her lovely home, good company and lots of fun and great treats.
One of those treats -- fresh, juicy Michigan strawberries -- which drip white on my pale green shirt.
Cheri's husband, apparently no stranger to science or spills said, "Saliva. That will take it out." He says this with great confidence -- something about enzymes. (This was a seriously red stain.)
Cheri suggests spot removal stick.
I used both -- but I swear the saliva worked better! The stain is gone. I'm a convert. A good thing. Michigan strawberry season has arrived!
Don't forget to check out what I've been reading on Chopsticks and String!

Oh, my do those strawberries look good! Worth the risk of stains. I never thought about saliva as a spot cleaner. Thanks for passing it on!
How does one use the saliva trick without offending? I guess I could just say, "Excuse me while I droll on my shirt. It takes out the stains."
It would be interesting to know how the saliva trick got discovered in the first place, but I'm glad it worked.
I don't even know if I have enough saliva to cover all our stains (we're getting old, you know and lots of stuff drops out of our mouths...) How fun to get made-up and have dessert, too!
Dear J, sounds like fun, good summer-and-makeup-and-house-tour fun! Ah, the strawberries this season are a delight (and so photogenic here!) And yes, I'm gonna remember the "spit" trick. Guess I'd have to take the stained item off first, right? Me? it's always coffee that I'm spilling!
Not sure if you're at the lake but I suspect you are. How lovely. Hope you and Rick haven't locked yourselves out again recently! Take gobs of picture, 'k?
We're heading out on vacay on Friday. In the meantime, it's a blur to get things done at work and on the homefront.
We had our engagement party for the kids last week. Oooo, a great time after all and so happy to have the house shipshape!
Will be checking in from Cali as soon as possible. Hugs to all!
I learned this years ago when out of desperation I used spit to clean off a spill on my daughter's sleeve.
Good friends. Good food. Good advise. Let the Good Times roll.
Good to know! I just bought six pounds of strawberries so we're enjoying shortcakes and smoothies and all kinds of goodies.
Now there's a very interesting piece of information. I love it when I learn something before I even begin my day.
YUM....and a little strawberry stain now gone will not erase your memory of this amazing dessert :)
The dessert looks wonderful. I would say it was worth the spot remover tricks. Hadn't heard of saliva. Interesting.
Hahaa you learn something new every day...what delicious little treats those look!
