Well, I've been here before. A slow month. I could write about a lot of health things or political topics but I don't want to and you probably don't want to read them. So, it's back to revisiting the travel photo archive!
As I mentioned HERE, one of my favorite Christmas presents was from Kevin and Molly -- and Aura frame. I think there are different brands but similar -- you upload photos onto a screen in a frame about the size of a tablet and it randomly circuits through them -- as many as you put up there. (So far, I'm at about 1,100).
It has been fun going through photo folders of family and friends, and of course, travel, as I choose photos to include. So, today we continue the "Finding Old Photos" series, French edition. All pics, with very little text apart from captions.

That's a great trip post, and great for this grey day with more snow here in NH. I would love to go back to Paris, but even more so to Giverny and also Normandy and Brittany. One day...sooner rather than later hope. Thank you for taking us along and getting me out of the house, even if I never even left it. :) That's a great photo of you and Rick too. So great to see these photos, Jeannie -- a bit of bright sunshine in an otherwise gloomy January! I especially like the one of the little sailboat trolley in the Luxembourg Gardens. I remember watching kids sailing boats there last year, but I didn't see the trolley! (Assuming it's still being used.)
I am a person who loves Paris, so I am delighted that you shared these photos today. I've been to Monet's gardens, but I have never been to Normandy. You took some amazing photos!

It looks like that Aura picture frame has been a major success in your life -- it's nice to have a distraction these days, right? And these pictures you shared are wonderful. Saint Chappelle is gorgeous, but Mont St. Michel has a stark beauty of its own, as does that lone windmill in Normandy. I enjoyed the details from the Staircase at Musee Jacquemart Andre and the LeBon Marche Wine section. And I sure hope there's a watercolor coming based on the pots of geraniums hanging from the shutters in your friend's courtyard! This is probably a good way to induce you to go back and look at some of the pictures again. I know that most of mine get edited and filed away and are never viewed again. In times past children were lucky to inherit even a few pictures from their parents; now there are hundreds per week! We are all mildly obsessed with photography.

I'm sure I recognize a few of these (the cat in the cemetery, for example). It's fun to see the collection again -- so many memories! I think my favorite is the child on the Normandy beach -- just lovely, and so evocative.

I love all of these photos! I’ve seen many of these sites with my own eyes, too. I have not made it to St Michel - but I will some day. That sunset photo of the Eiffel Tower is STUNNING! And I agree about the beauty of that church. I also saw a concert there. I went to a light event at our basilica with a choir and orchestra this weekend and it was stunning. It made me think about how the Catholics really know how to make a stunning church!

Oh how I love Paris and France. I crave those sandwiches sometimes. I crave just sitting on the boulevard sipping something delicious. I want to spend more time at Montmartre. And YES, Sainte Chappelle is the most beautiful place in the world. The sound of music playing in the chapel it is magnificent.

Oh Jeanie, I enjoyed your fun photo find, I felt like I was back in all those same places. Some of my favorite places too. Loved seeing Normandy again. We took my in-laws, Jim wanted to take his dad back. He was D Day plus 1. We went to Mont Saint Michel, spent the night there. I'm going back now for another scroll, don't want to miss anything. Oh Jeanie...love all your photos and it makes me think of the quote..."we will always have Paris"...isn't that the truth? Once you have been there, you never forget that beautiful city and surrounding area. How nice you were gifted the ability to gaze at your memories without having to do anything but just look and watch. Stay warm my friend...it is cold down here and I can only imagine it where you are.

The photo of the cat at the cemetary really caught my eye. That is so special that some time later you got a cat like that. It almost seems like a message from the universe or something.
As much as I enjoyed the photos of France (never having been there), I feel compelled to remind you that the urgency of our country and democracy will require us to speak up and resist the tyranny from witin our own government. Never has that time been more important than now. Your voice in this blog will fuel others to speak their minds, especially the women! We do need all hands on deck for this project and there is no avoiding this perilous position we currently inhabit. Your opinion matters. Thank you for considering these thoughts.
I love seeing old photos, they take you back to those times. It's a shame to visit a place and not re-visit it, from time to time, by looking at the photos.

You have beautiful pictures, Jeanie, and they deserve to get on your Aura. I regularly look at my old pictures, they always bring back so many memories. That poppy in Giverny could have been in my garden - I used to have some like that. Unfortunately that kind is not very good in re-seeding. France is a country I love very much and I always enjoy going there.
I love the smiles! I've never grown poppy. Though I love poopy seeds and lemons together in bakes. Hope you're doing well and staying warm.
Jeanie, wonderful photographs!! I love looking at details in b/w. I tried to find cast iron to ship home while we were in Paris but didn't know where to look, nor where any brocantes/antique shops were. I love the swirls and knowing that someone hand-made them!! Maybe next time. ;) Very happy to feature this post and your January is Good post for you at SYS #485 this week.
