Revisiting Old Photos....The Nature Collection

One of my fussy projects this winter has been to go through old albums and digitally save the photos I want and send the originals to those in them. In the course of filing the scans, I revisited my digital photo files and have been dumping a lot of those as well. I also rediscovered many from past years that, if they were ever shared here at all, were shared long ago. (Photo purging is a great thing to do on a frigid day!)

The ones I'm sharing with you today are nature photos. "Who's On First?"

This is the Barred Owl that found a lovely resting spot in the tree outside of Rick's brother's home. 

 

I had never seen an owl so close, even one in "captivity."

And he was a stunner. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. 

If I'd been using film, developing it would have cost a fortune!

Down the road from Randy and Elaine is a farm where we were fortunate enough to see some sweet lambs.

I will call the rest of this post "Feeding time" because these little guys were hungry.

They shared the field with some llamas, who appeared to take good care of them.

I'm a sucker for sheep, especially lambs. And these just captured my heart!

Closer to home, in Northern Michigan, a sheep farm also brought forth a bit of a feeding frenzy.

Meanwhile, at the home of children's book artist Gijsbert von Frankenhuyzen, I captured this one on film long ago.  It's so calm and pastoral, almost like a painting.

A smaller version of the feeding frenzy took place outside my kitchen window at least fifteen or twenty years ago when a Mama finch hatched a brood of five.

Mama (or Papa?) always kept an eye out!

I named them Ichi, Ni, San, Shi and Go, which is One-Two-Three-Four-Five in Japanese. 

Feeding time was the greatest fun!

They were loud -- and darling. I never saw them leave. We went away for the weekend and when we came home, the wreath on which the next was balanced had blown down. Or maybe it was knocked down as they fledged. Either way, I missed them!

There was a feeding frenzy of a different kind at the Elk Park up north several summers ago.

You can count on seeing the elk and fallow deer come up around dinner time where they gather for a food fest.

And, if you hit it at feeding time, this is about all you'll see!

I don't get out a lot so looking back is good fun!
