The work I share here is work I did in the sessions and I'm the first to admit that most isn't my best work. That wasn't the point. The point was to create art along with the instructor through their videos (some of which were edited for drying time so they were "working" a whole lot faster than I could!) Consequently, you're going for "learning," not perfection. This bright floral watercolor, from the class taught by Jenna Rainey, is FAR from my usual style -- and I love it, even though it is not without flaw!
This workshop, taught by Shayda Campbell, focused on drawing flowers. I did mine in different sections of the page and ended up with a big blank spot in the center so I added the center phrase. (This is done in watercolor markers, not my fave medium!) The actual project added a calendar.I didn't need another calendar.
I loved the urban sketching workshop with Peggy Dean so much that I did the project twice! This is what we saw on the screen.
And this is my interpretation. I'm relatively pleased given the time frame.
I don't know where I'll use what I learned in the Drop Capitals workshop, taught by Hayley Berry, but I had fun creating the big "R" that we did!
This painting, taught by Emma Witte of The Watercolor Academy, used one color, Payne's gray. What a great exercise! This is Emma's version.
I didn't master the fog and to be honest, I don't know that mine looks like a forest in the fog but it was fascinating to see what you could do with the various tones of one color only.
My favorite piece is from the "Painting Houses" workshop taught by Joanne Lauzon. I've done a lot of houses but I did learn some nice techniques from the instructor. (I also took probably an additional half hour to work on this one). This is the family cottage that my mom and her sisters grew up in and that now belongs to my cousins. I've painted this before but this one is much better. My biggest disappointment in this one is that I did it larger than a standard mat size so basically, it stays in the practice book.
And that's it. Truly a wonderful group of workshops and a good time. I hope they do it again in another year and if they do, I'll let you know!

I love taking online workshops. It helps me stretch myself. I love seeing your creations from the workshops.
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job! Especially with the first flowers and the Payne's grey ~
ReplyDeleteThey all sound like great workshops. You sure are one talented artist Jeanie, all your work is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis sounded like a whole lot of fun and I am so impressed with your artwork Jeanie. You did excellent work!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the new blog look, by the way. What a fun workshop. Your art is amazing.
ReplyDeleteHello Jeanie: The results are almost secondary to the time and effort you invested in learning, proving (if it needed proof) that learning should be an ongoing lifelong process. You did really well in my opinion and the time spent was a great investment. These educational videos and workshops are amongst the very best of what computers have to offer,
ReplyDeleteLove the house and the bunny in the woods. It's also fun to see how different two people create the same scene.
ReplyDeleteAwesome pieces of art! Great online workshops! I wish I had some talent to be among those learning artists!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Jeanie;)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteCreative works, Jeanie. Well done.
ReplyDeleteHi! Remember me? I LOVE the first bright watercolor! And the one in the woods is really cool too! You are so talented!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great set of classes Jeanie. And you are right, the point is not to create the world's best art, but to practice and learn, even if it is out of your normal style. But I do think you created some fantastic art, and it was great to see it. It looks like you had a lot of fun! Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteJeanie, I see no flaws in any of them whatsoever! I do love the top flower one. I have seen it done on Pinterest and I love the colors and the style. They are all wonderful..Happy Summer Days..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteoh i love your artwork jeanie. especially the rabbit in the forest and the little blue house! so clever are you!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing what we can so do online these days and great to have new creative endeavours. I love your work I have always wanted to paint but never seem to make the time I feel a paint along with class could be the way to go. Your bunch of flowers is lovely, perfect for your gift card collection!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week

Wow, great work and so diverse. Wish I had known about this course in time. Good to push out of our cosy little comfort zones, isn't it?
ReplyDeletep.s. I agree, these online art instructors do move at a pace, don't they? It is a job to keep up indeed.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the workshops, there are so many good things being offered on the net. The first floral painting is my fave. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWhat great workshops! I love what you did.
ReplyDeleteFun workshops! I love the bunny in the forest. It makes me think of a showy day in the woods. Creating fog must be really tricky. The cottage is so sweet.
ReplyDeleteYou have such talent, all your workshop pieces look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHow fun and well done!
ReplyDeleteI signed up somewhere as I keep getting emails from BCourtjce but never followed through😬😬😬I had Jennas book ..lent it…lol ..didn’t come back.Love that perspective !!!!!!and that cottage!
Learning and being creative are a great past time - love all your projects but I do think the house is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your workshop art Jeanie, I was especially fascinated with the one where you could only use tones of a single color! I have dabbled in urban sketching, I love that...getting the right perspective is tricky! You did so many different things, what a great workshop!
ReplyDeleteJenna
You've been busy! The workshops sound like fun :) Shame about the house; it'd be pretty matted and framed.
ReplyDeleteI love them all. What fun! Please let us know if they do it again, I could get into some of those classes. The first flower pictures just is so colorful and happy. I do like your house at the end too.
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented my friend. I love it. Hugs. Stay safe.

I think you did a lot of beautiful painting with these workshops Jeanie. Love your interpretation of the street scene and my favorite is the cottage. Maybe a custom mat and frame, too sweet to leave in the sketch book........
ReplyDeleteHello, Jeanie,
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing all the things you can learn online. I think you are very talented.
I love the first two with the flowers and the house. Take care, have a great day!
They are all good but I really like that first one.
ReplyDeleteI have only participated in some online courses from the local library, virtual recently. None of these were creative efforts like this one. Thanks for showing us your creative results,Jeanie. I liked the perspective one best.
ReplyDeleteHow fun and they all look wonderful. Great job!!! Janice
ReplyDeleteI love these so much! And even though I have a natural bias for anything botanical, your architectural drawings / urban scenes are so charming they might be my favorites.
ReplyDeleteNo drawing for me these days - I have been strictly nose-to-grindstone lately -- but as soon as I can, I'm hoping to get back to a little work with pen and ink. My daughter introduced me to this book (Imagine a Forest by Dinara Mirtalipova), and I'd like to get to know it a little bit better.
Glad to know you're getting back to the lake, finding time to draw, making creative connections. Best to you!
You work is great and that looks like an amazing work shop.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like your online lessons were well worth it, and lots of fun. Loving the flowers and the rendition of the letter. Lots of cool shading done there. Hugs, and enjoyed your shares!
ReplyDeleteI love all your art works. Well done!
ReplyDeleteIt is all very nice. I like the way your lettering looks so elegant. And I love the house not only in terms of the drawing but in terms of the house itself. Lovely home!
ReplyDeleteMind blowing post
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day my friend. Hope all is well. Hope the Fourth is festive.

It sounds like you learned a lot from the Workshop, and that's nice that they have them online. The first one is so bright and colorful, I really like that one. I've always loved foggy days, so the painting by Emma Witte spoke to me. It's mysterious and lovely. My son saw a rabbit right by our house in the street today. You have such a talent with painting, Jeanie. I'm glad this hobby of yours brings you joy and a little peace.

Great works again! You are so talented, it´s a joy to see! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your creativity, Jeanie. The online workshops must be a wonderful challenge. Enjoy the weekend, and Happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, great job.
ReplyDeleteThey sound good workshops.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing your art.
All the best Jan
So fun to learn new tricks! My favorite is the watercolor floral!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice that you are always learning new things or improving on what crafts you enjoy, Jeanie. Your watercolor floral is beautiful! One of my friend's daughters has made a business on ETSY out of doing similar watercolor florals and making them into greeting cards and invitations.
ReplyDeleteTerrific work Jeanie!

Glad you had such a great time doing the workshop week. The point of practice pieces is that they're meant to just let you try the technique, regardless of how well you do with it. You can improve on anything you want to later.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same with following via Bloglovin', just so you know: click on the post title and it takes you right to the post, otherwise you might have some extra clicking to do. Just thought I'd mention that.
Great online experiences for you Jeanie!
ReplyDeleteI loved your flower piece and the cottage . . .
Learning is always a possibility, isn’t it!
Jeanie, I really like your rabbit in the dark forest! It has a Disney-esque dark Sleeping Beauty quality to it which I really love!! I don't think I could make fog either... It has been sooo long since I've taken any art classes, but it's on the list. I should set something up for next summer; be something good to look forward to for next year! The perspective buildings drawing is good, too. So hard to draw that way without lines. My mind sees it (I'm always in buildings and follow ceiling lines; weird habit) but I can't recreate it well.
ReplyDeleteHappy painting/drawing!
Barb :)
