Our unseasonably warm weather took a dip downwards this past week. I'm worried about the flowering trees and my young budded flowers, many of which will be covered with sheets or beach towels tonight. We are expecting snow -- not much, but still -- snow? It won't stay. But it's a good time for a few inside things. Time to be cozy.
Time to finish that dreadfully difficult jigsaw puzzle. I got down to about 10 pieces and couldn't make them fit. (It was in that green tree on the right.) They all more or less looked the same and some could fit in multiple places. I actually messaged New Yorker puzzle guru Claudia Hill-Sparks of Mockingbird Cottage to talk me down on FB.
Then I turned around and looked back at the puzzle and it fell into place. No doubt about it -- these New Yorker puzzles are hard. But finishing is so rewarding!
Time for Netflix and telly. I almost cried when we finished watching "Schitt's Creek." I will miss these characters and this accpeting, gentle town in which they live. Watching these characters evolve over their six seasons was just lovely. I wasn't sure I'd like it after the first episode or two -- but oh, I do and I'll miss it! (You will note Lizzie on a lap. It doesn't happen often. And it doesn't last long. Head locks help.)
Spring is still popping here and will continue for a bit. Peter Rabbit is in his element!
My daffodils are looking good.
And they smell fabulous -- especially these! Are they nasturtium? So many varieties!
My lettuce is doing well and very nearly time to be divided and thinned out. That will be this weekend's chore!
Time to read -- I'm reading Rennie Airth's first "John Madden" mystery, "River of Darkness," and it's a good character. He's a post WWI veteran and Scotland Yard detective called in on a baffling case in a small town. Sometimes when I'm very lucky, I have a reading companion!
And sometimes, she's just a princess.
A few decor upgrades. Most of the bunnies are gone -- but not all!
And my vintage people are welcoming spring, too
Thee three mice are not by me -- I wish they were -- but I keep them out for inspiration. Right now I'm felting birds again.
So, it's is being a lovely spring, cozy, cheery, laid back.
Lizzie and I like it that way! We'll cozy down till it warms up!
And I hope that's soon!

That puzzle looks like it could be very challenging! Your spring flowers are looking so pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour daffodils sure are looking good! Love the closeups. And wish I could join in to do that interesting jigsaw puzzle. Yes, just join in and contribute a few pieces here and there. Don't think I have the stamina to start and finish one. How long did it take you?
ReplyDeleteYour daffodils are beautiful, and so varied! Yes, we have a cat that's not really a lap cat, either. When he jumps up on us, we feel very honored! Is that squirrel defense, the wire pieces over your lettuce? -Jenn
ReplyDeleteI understand about the weather...we were 75, beautiful, sunny and no humdity yesterday. It was amazing. Last night sitting here in the living room with the back door to the deck opened I listened as the wind came in, then it really started to blow, temp started dropping. This morning it was 30 degrees when I got up. I went to take the trash out and its freezing! I covered my herbs last night. Kitty LOVE the best. Lily is like yours, don't come and veg with me often but Misty on the other hand loves to cuddle.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a hygge start to Spring for you and Lizzie.
ReplyDeleteI hope your flowering trees and plants will all be ok, and I hope it warms back up soon. Cozying up sounds like the perfect option in the meantime. Great puzzle and of course I always love seeing your sweet Lizzie. Enjoy the rest of the week. :)
ReplyDeleteYour spring is looking perfect Jeanie (except for the snow forecast). We are supposed to dip into the 30s tonight! We moved to SC so the 30s would not show in April! Great puzzle you have there. That is such a relaxing past time. My parents LOVED Schitt's Creek. I watched a few episodes ages ago but never followed through so I need to go back to it. I have been obsessed with the Tubi app which is filled with old classic movies I have never seen.
ReplyDeleteImpressive daffies! they are so fancy! Lovely peaceful post, most welcomed! Thank you
ReplyDeleteThat puzzle looks like it is the devils own@@ Congrats!
ReplyDeleteIt seems a large part of the country is feeling this cold snap. We are under a frost advisory for in the morning, so we will cover as much as possible. The daffodils are gorgeous and the three mice are adorable. That puzzle really looks difficult, but how lovely when finished!
ReplyDeleteJeanie, your daffodils are beautiful. Love that yellow with the bright orange. Have never seen one like it. I felt the same way about Schitt's Creek. Right now we are watching Heartland. Most would say, I imagine, that it is close to a teeny bopper story, but we are just enthralled. 13 seasons and we are on 10 so will be crying when it is over. Lizzie is a darling and I would be happy with any amount of attention she deigns to give! This has been the best spring here, usually rains come (which are always needed) and ruin the flowering trees before they get started but this year everything is blooming bright..Stay well..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteYour laid back picture with Lizzie looking at you with curiosity and love, is captivating! I couldn't take my eyes off that picture.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful puzzle, it has a sunny window brightness.
ReplyDeleteBunnies all year round! They deserve the fresh air.
Your daffodils are lovely, Jeanie. I agree their fragrance is wonderful. Ours are finished, but the narcissus are hanging around. We are supposed to go into the 30's this evening so I'll be putting the annuals in protection. Hopefully the snow won't affect your blossoms. Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteI am with you and Lizzie. Stay cozy til it warms up! We sell White Mountain puzzles at our gift shop. These are also difficult, but our customers love the difficulty and that they are made right here in the USA. Janice
ReplyDeleteYou sound so cheerful and relaxed! And how lovely to have the daffodils in full swing. My favourite flowers, but here they're starting to come to an end. I won't say I feel exactly sad at it, because there's still the rest of Spring and summer to look forward to. But, I treasure the late ones which are yet to come into bloom. Our weather is still unseasonably cold but it is still mostly sunny, so that's fine.... we have coats!
ReplyDeleteMy cat Emmy is kind of like yours. She's not really a lap cat, but does want to be close. Once in awhile, when I'm sitting in the rocking chair knitting, she will get up and putting a paw on either side of my neck, gives me a hug. This is NEW behavior!
ReplyDeleteThat puzzle certainly looks a puzzler! Well done on completing it.
ReplyDeleteYour daffodils are lovely.
Great photographs throughout your post.
All the best Jan
Somehow puzzles just don't tempt me the way they used to do, but yours looks like a lot of fun. I like your stone yard bunny -- we wish all of the bunnies in our yard would turn to stone and stop nibbling our hostas.
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
That puzzle would drive me nuts.
ReplyDeleteLizzie has it made.
Wow Jeanie. I would have been NO good with that puzzle. I'm thrilled you stayed with it. It has all the elements I love: an adorable cat, tea on a table, and a skyscraper view to die for.
ReplyDeleteYour daffs are incredible. I love your tulips, too. The bunnies and the flowers and the tiny mice all make for a very cozy home, especially since it's freezing tonight (here too, but my plants are all still inside). This is a really stunning and lovely post, filled with love and warmth, even as the wind blows and swirls outside.
Yes, also still very cold here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great community, help on puzzles via FB, love this! Yay for Spring, beautiful flowers. And I sure adore your reading companion.
I love your reading companion. Lizzie is so cute! <3
ReplyDeleteI'm not a puzzle fan, but well done on getting it finished. Sometimes it's good to cozy up at home and just enjoy what's around us. Have a great week, Valerie
ReplyDeleteHello Jeanie,
ReplyDeleteThe puzzle does sound like a challenge, I am glad you stuck out it till the end.
I like your cute bunnies, the bird and the felt mice are adorable. Lizzie looks sweet curled up next to you! The daffies are beautiful. Take care, enjoy your day!
Welcome spring, even with the cold. We have ice on the outside dog dish this morning and it is cold. Brr. I love seeing Lizzie doing the kitty snuggle. Congrats on finishing the puzzle. That is an accomplishment when they are difficult. Hope all is well. I feel much better today after a down day getting my second vaccine. Have a great day and stay warm. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThose puzzles look nothing short of daunting! Rick did the smart thing and took a nap. We too have had a reversal to cold weather and as I look out the window this morning there are snowflakes in the air. I don't mind winter but snow at the end of April is ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteLove your cheerfulness. But I'm so sick of being cold!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd rather scrub a floor than work on a jigsaw puzzle. I used to like them when I was a kid, and our family often kept one on a table so we could add a piece when we walked by. I still remember Oh posting about the puzzle that they couldn't complete because they couldn't find two pieces!
ReplyDeleteAww Lizzie is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love Schitt's Creek too. It was such a journey! And I find myself saying things like "I love that for you" ala Alexis.. lol
It's cozy time here as well Jeanie. We had a cold front come through and last night we had a light frost. Yesterday was cold and windy, definitely inside time which we needed. We've had beautiful spring days for working in the beds and replacing container plants. So, today will be inside catch-up. Your daffs are exquisite! My favorites! Lizzie is a darling, I know you love those snuggle times with her. We'll warm up today and back to work outside. I have to say it's been the most beautiful spring we've had in a while. Hope your snow doesn't last long.............
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming photo of you with Lizzie! So cute! Your flowers are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat's a darn cute pic of you and Lizzie:)
ReplyDeleteWe had snow:(
Snow fun.tender shoots and buds.. time will tell.
That's a great puzzle one of my dds loves them.
And your daffs♥Take care...
Schitts Creek same here at first no..I still have a few episodes to watch..
Congrats on finishing what looks to be a really hard puzzle. The spring photos are lovely - it always seems that cold weather has to make a few last appearances before it really retires.
ReplyDeletethat is one hard puzzle - I once did a red medieval tapestry puzzle with ladies and banners, unicorns and all things medieval
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers
ReplyDeleteWe're having record lows here. What a Spring! Your flowers are lovely, and those vintage people are delightful.
ReplyDeleteCongratulation for finishing the hardest puzzle, Jeanie!
ReplyDeleteThe daffodil flowers are beautiful!
You finished the puzzle, good job Jeanie! I always love to see your cozy home. I hope your Daffodils do Ok with the snow coming. It's such a pleasure for me to see the snow, as I didn't get to see it for so many years. Now, I live in a place where it happens every year. You know, I've been watching Virgin River on Netflix. Such a good series, and I'm really getting into it. The actors do a wonderful job playing their charaters. Now, you'll have to tell me about Schitt's Creek. Have never heard of it before. I wonder if I'd enjoy watching it? A lovely Spring post, Jeanie, and you find so many things to do inside the home. Me too!
ReplyDelete~Sheri
You have the patience of Job to do jigsaw puzzles. Congrats on finishing it. I love your flowers. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteHope your blooms and blossoms survived, Jeanie. Those daffs are so lovely! You and Lizzie look content relaxing. It's been snowing off and on here for a week. Not much accumulation but colder temps. We have nothing blooming, of course.
ReplyDeleteYour daffodils looks lovely. I love this time of year. I hope the weather doesn't get too cold. Lizzie looks so darn cute. Happy reading and happy puzzles.
ReplyDeleteThank you for lovely pictures. It just uplifted my spirits after a long day.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Jeanie. Your daffodils are gorgeous. We still have a few remaining, but the daffodil season is almost finished here. However, the lilacs are in full swing and the Carolina Jessamine is about to bloom. We had snow, black skies, and sunshine all on the same day this week. One has to love spring.
ReplyDeleteI do love Miss Lizzie, she looks at you as though whe is worshiping you. I know you love her. I admire you for taking on those puzzels. I have never had the patience for them.
Happy weekend, Jeanie. Warmer weather is on the way, I know it is.
jeanie, the daffodils certainly look cheerful considering the weather outside that you described. Hope all the budding plants do make it with the sudden changes, quite annoying at this late date, but Mother Nature can be so unpredictable and nothing is surprising these days! I searched our local library and couldn't find an audio book by Rennie Airth, but I think I can download an e-book through the library's Hoopla streaming service, so will add it to my list for a future read. Right now I have 2 new books to start by Donna Leon (inspector Brunetti's 30th adventure) and Charles Finch. You and Rick and Lizzie did look so comfortable and hope she doesn't see those mice!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers, kitty and people:) and that puzzle. Wow. Are you going to frame it?
ReplyDeleteLizzie is such a sweet companion. Spring time is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe had a dusting of snow and temps. in the 20's... next week it is supposed to be in the 80's!! Crazy!!
ReplyDeleteI do have Schitt's Creek on my list of shows to watch....
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Stay safe, healthy and happy!
Hugs,
Debbie
The safety of our gardens is always a worry at any time of year, but this year, like us, they must be so confused! I haven't had snow, although many in the UK have, but the temperatures are up and down like a yo yo. Daffodils are glorious blooms indeed.
ReplyDeleteWaving, with mittened hands, Deb in Wales
We are having similar weather here. It’s depressing! I am ready for warm, sunny spring weather! It looks like things will improve here next week. I had to order a space heater for my basement office because it was soooo cold down there! I’m ready to feel warm!!
ReplyDeleteWe tried one episode of Schitt’s Creek and didn’t care for it but it sounds like we need to keep watching as many have told us it gets better!!
Hi Jeanie! I hope the warm comes soon, too. I have my big fluffy robe on this morning. Your pictures are so cute today!
ReplyDeleteDear Jeanie,
ReplyDeleteApril is certainly living up to its fickle reputation, but it has been delightful to see the promise of good things to come in your garden. Spring is definitely on the way with all the hope that these new shoots of life bring.
And, thank you for the tip of a new detective writer, at least new to us. It sounds very promising and, fortunately, we are able to get English language books delivered to us by our local bookseller here in Budapest.
How adorable is your cat. One always feels privileged to have his/her presence since it is always on their terms!
Beautiful flowers in your garden despite the snow which I hope doesn't last long.
ReplyDeleteWe are still having very warm weather and almost at the end of the second month of Autumn, we still had 26C/78.8F today which was great for gardening.
That puzzle is beautiful and I love seeing Lizzie all relaxed.
Schitt's Creek was one of my favorite series on Netflix, it certainly made you laugh. Oh and the outfits everyone wore, can't see that ever happening in our little town. 😊
ReplyDeleteWhat's not to love with Lizzie, beautiful flowers, a fun puzzle, and cozy. Cute little mice too. I have two such mices. Hummm? Is that a word. Maybe pronounce it meeces.
ReplyDeleteWe loved Schitt’s Creek! I also like that New Yorker puzzle, but it does look like quite a challenge. I’m still working on my rocks and mineral puzzle and I’m hoping to finish it before we head to the cottage in another month. Enjoy our summer weather today before winter weather heads in again.😉
ReplyDeleteI so admire your art journals. Beautiful! And how adorable are those little mice! The artist is perfect for you!!! I found a cute one at Easter. He is riding in a little boat, a flower for a sail.
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring!
My Friend Myko did Felting Creations, they were so cute and she published a Book about them, looks like more work and skill than I possess, but I sure have loved the Felted Rocks I've seen on Pinterest. If I could learn to do that I'd be really into it, I think. I also saw Rocks with Straw Weaving around them that I thought was Cool, another unusual form of Art I never knew about. I could get Lost sometimes in the Imagery of Pinterest for that reason, so much to discover that is New to me, even if it's an Ancient Art Form.
