In my last post, I shared our virtual Southern Exposure workshop, where friends Kate, Jan and I decorated a tealight candle holder. But Kate and I had ordered another project, too, and although we didn't Zoom this one, I wanted to share it. (Cue the Music!)
It was making our own Rudolph. Southern Exposure delivered this well made reindeer, with limbs screwed in. Along with it was a bag of "stuff."
This was the simplest project ever. One plastic ball, with its hanging mechanism removed, was screwed into a hole on the reindeer's nose. Then I just added the three balls and spray of bells to the antlers and tied the bright red and white scarf around his neck. Voila!
(The project also came with lights but I opted out of that. That might change but right now, I like it without.)
This took all of five minutes. And then he went to his new home, outside!
It's looking a lot like Christmas inside, too -- but that's coming soon!

I saw those on your last post, but was delighted to see they weren't just Southern Exposure decorations. How cute and clever. How will your lights hold up in the ice and snow that will surely arrive very soon? That worries me.

Rudolph looks like he's ready to lead Santa from your home, Jeanie. I heard Burl Ives singing his iconic song about Rudolph this afternoon. Such a classic tune that has left me humming. I really expected to see snow at your place. Enjoy the weekend.

I recently learned that reindeer and caribou are the same animal, with different names in different places. Rudolph alliterates better with reindeer, though! Yours is a cutie!

What a creative Rudolph! Oh, he sure makes our hearts merry with his red nose and dear character. I actually love to watch the old classics, and they are my favorites. Is that sheet music? Wow, those are old and wonderful to have. Rudolph looks festive outside your home.

My husband use to make similar reindeer for our yard, even whole families. They weren't quite as tidy looking, but I loved them. This makes me want another reindeer. I love yours with the scarf and jingle bells.

Jeanie, seeing that crafted reindeer made me wish we had an outdoor space for it. It looks like it would be easy enough to gather the needed materials on a forest walk with downed branches. Pat is really good with hammer, nails and screws too. Your finished reindeer looks lovely and I would have skipped the lights as well.
Rudolph will certainly bring a smile to all those who pass by.
