Coming from the south of the state, the heart beats a little faster when we hit the northern counties and the colors get brighter.
It's difficult to keep your eyes on the road!
The color makes for beautiful walks as well.
This patch of sumac is particularly lovely.
At least, I think it's sumac!
And if one has something rather hideous like a boat lifting system to hide for the season, why not dress it up?
I think these people have a sense of humor and style!
Every day is more and more beautiful. Of course, the woods isn't the only colorful venue. This is the view when I look across the lake in the morning.
I never get tired of seeing these colors!
They get more brilliant with every passing day.
The leaves are beginning to fall. Birch leaves are beginning to land on the beach.
And maple leaves float gently in the water, drifting lazily along the shoreline.
More than a few have fallen on the sand. The color is inside, too. You find it in the pumpkins...
...and in the last of sunflowers.
As the sun begins to set, another burst of colors kicks in. Whether it's a sunset from afar...
...or the play of color on the water...
...it's clear that when it comes to creating a palette, nature wins, hands down!

Wow! I'm speechless!
Our leaves are dropping like mad.
OH MY!!! What a gorgeous world, It is surreal! Must inspire you to paint though you could probably never reach that intensity of color with paints! WOW!!! Beautiful leaf on the water. I am so going to miss you at the lake!
Fun photos, wonderful colours. It's sunflower and pumpkin time, I love it. Hugs, Valerie
Gostei muito de ver as imagens ilustrativas da beleza do outono.

Hello Jeanie,
WOW, the trees and colors are just stunning. Your fall colors are much further along than what we see here. It would be hard concentrating on the road, the colors are beautiful. Cute Autumn decorations. Your view at the lake is gorgeous, love the sunset and the sunflowers. Take care, enjoy your day! Have a great week ahead.
I am grateful that you featured sumac, Jeanie, my absolute favourite fall leaf, and one if my favourite plants of all in fact. The sumacs here are crimson now and they are ready to provide winter food for a whole range if animals.
Absolutely gorgeous - the scenes just make my heart sing. If only it would stay fall for as long as it stays winter! Yes, that is sumac and I love how it turns that beautiful crimson colour. -Jenn
Everything still green here and weee, I worked myself warm! LOL. (Heating was on over the weekend!)
Beautiful colors you have there. From trees, lake and sun!
Jeanie, You are having much prettier colors there. I love the view from across the lake. Who would not want to sit and look at that for a good long while? Love the sunset and on the water is really is beautiful. Enjoy my friend. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Love the autumn colors and you've captured them beautifully.
Utterly gorgeous. It reminds me, fondly, of the drive I took on so many Autumn weekends between Virginia Beach and Colonial Williamsburg. As you say, hard to keep eyes on the road!
Deb in {almost} leafless Wales!
Wow, wOW, WOW! that looks like autumn with a special technicolor filter! Amazing!
Love the leaves
You are ahead of us!
The only true red right now is that we have entered a red alert zone:(
Jeanie, these scenes are stunning with such gorgeous colors! You have captured the beauty around the lake so wonderfully. Enjoy your day!
This is hard to believe. We're still in a mostly-green world, and even when color appears, it's nothing like this.I must say, nothing stirs my want-to-travel juices more than photos of autumn color. Maybe if I get my current jobs finished by mid-October, I could manage at least a peek or two farther north. Of course, the maps are showing our "color" peaking in late October, so I have a full month to get busy. Thank goodness the heat has broken -- it's sunny and sixty this morning!
So pretty! The middle of the state usually turns earlier than the outer regions lying next to the water. We are seeing some color but it’s hit and miss at this point. I expect that in the next two weeks we’ll see all of the glory here! You captured some beautiful images!
WOW! Feast to the eyes and balm to the soul!Just wonderful!
All of your photos are gorgeous! I especially love the all the pretty fall trees. I really need to make a trip to see that one of these days. I can understand why you would never get tired of seeing it - it's magical!
Fall colors are a constant topic in famous songs. I know people who have a Fall playlist for their road trips, both vocal and instrumental selections.
I do get so anxious when I see all the glorious colors from up north while it's still hot and steamy here. September is usually hot and dry and sometimes well in October. Usually it is in November before we see your color. We did get a bit of a front to come through last night so it was cool this morning but the heat will return. So nice you can enjoy the autumn season at the lake. I know the color is a joyful sight to behold.........
Breathtaking pix! Our trees are just now beginning to turn ~
What an incredible artist you are, Jeanie!!!!!!!!! Wow!!! Truly, my heart started beating fast!!!
Wow! (You're leaving me almost speechless!
I am curious what kind of camera you have. I just got a new point and shoot, but I'm wondering if I'd enjoy an upgrade.
So, I just did my first post using the new platform. Why was I freaking out about it? Seemed natural. But you and Monique helped to calm me donw and reassure me, so un grand merci!!!!!
Awww, everything looks so beautiful. I have sunflowers in a vase too, they are lovely flowers.
Those colours are awesome. We are not there yet. Plus not all autumns are equal. Enjoy.
And what a gorgeous palette of colors you are celebrating here. Just breathe taking, each and every picture. I love seeing it. We have some color change, but not as vibrant as yours.
WOW, Jeanie. Such glorious color and beauty. I do believe you live in paradise. My favorite photos are along the highway and the view across the lake - simply magnificent! We have no red as of yet, but the huge sugar maple in the yard behind us is turning gold. Fall truly is a splendid time of year.
Enjoy all the beauty!
Not much color where I'm at but the sumac is red in my yard. I just contracted a guy to come cut it down. I'm allergic to the stuff. Your photos are gorgeous.
Thank you for the tour!
Absolutely Beautiful Color this year!
Magnificent scenes of Fall.
We don't have changing leaf colors here, sadly, so I love seeing the colors of these. The leaf photo is beautiful.
So gorgeous! And so glad you're enjoying all this lovely, vibrant color! Kind of looking forward to seeing more of the same here... maybe once the temperatures drop later this week?
Georgeous, Jeanie! Your photos are simply beautiful. You are way ahead of us here. I sure hope our colors are as vibrant as yours!
Oh my gosh, those leaves are just beautiful.
This kind of scenery was what I wanted to see when I went on my New England road trip a few years back. But I didn't see so much red. Well I was a few weeks early, around this time. Your pics are awesome! In my neck of the woods, fall is golden, not red, for we don't have any maple trees.
Gorgeous Autumn colours Jeanie.
And I love the sunsets too.
Wow! Up north Michigan never disappoints any season. I miss it.
Breathtaking Jeanie, wow, I can't believe the intense colors! We won't see that until November in the South and the colors won't be as deep as yours...the view across the lake, swoon!!
Jenna
Oh!!! We get seasonal color here but nothing like yours. Wow!
Nothing beats the amgnificent colors of fall! Beautiful photos
Beautiful Autumn foliage! Trees not so colorful here et. Janice
I LOVE the lake pictures with the changing leaves! And the sunflowers. Our leaves are turning earlier this year than last year, but we're not as far along as you are.
WOW WOW WOW !!!
Such a beautiful post.
I love the Autumn, I love the colours and I enjoyed seeing all of your wonderful photographs.
Enjoy this last day of September and have a good October.
All the best Jan
Hi Jeanie. Wow, such beauty. We have some color in the high country but nothing like you have, not cold enough here, I think..Stay well..xxoJudy
Fantastic Fall colors! You are blessed with beauty right where you are ~ you lucky girl! I Love all the leaves falling, floating and resting on the beach just stunning ~ Enjoy it all! Love, Karen
What spectacular photos, Jeanie! You have the best fall at the lake. Ours was brief and golden. I just love all the red you get.
Oh WOW...you guys have amazing color. We are just now starting to change a tad bit here. When I say that, the green leaves are just getting lighter right now. Can't wait...I love the color. I would totally love to be up your way some fall....I need to play a trip next fall....BEAUTIFUL.
Jeanie,
STUNNING pics!! The leaves are starting to change here too!! I love this time of year...my favorite Season of the year...Has always been since I was a kid!! Thanks so much for always stopping by, my friend!!!
Hugs,
Debbie
😍
Good Morning Jeanie and Happy Fall!
Always a treat to watch Summer fade into Autumn and then burst into all of her magnificent beauty and color!
Thank you for sharing my favorite season!
Jemma
Beautiful fall colours!
Those sunflowers look so perky and cheerful.
Jeanie!!! Those reds!!! FIRE! Super love it all! And those yellow sand golds, oh Jeanie its a feast for my eyes and my heart! You had me say a prayer that someday I can see it in person too, as leaves turn colors! Happy October dear Jeanie!
Oh, these pictures are jaw-droppingly beautiful! The colors are exquisite! Your morning view is one to envy, for sure. I love the transition of the colors from trees to pumpkins to sunsets. We haven't seen much in the way of fall colors so far here in NJ. I think it will happen quickly - one morning I will wake up and they will have turned from green to red! Many of my summer flowers are still going gangbusters, which I can't understand. They've never lasted this long. Well, 2020 is an oddity in many ways, I guess.
I think some blogs are not showing up on my blog list on real time. This just appeared today. Hmmm. What wonderful colors and photo Jeanie. You definitely have some fall. Even the sunset has fall colors-smile. It does have beautiful colors. Our colors have come and are going fast this year. I think it is our dry weather. Enjoyed the views today Jeanie. Hugs-Erika
Beautiful!! The leaves are just starting to change here, I can't wait until they are on fire like this. I think I would like fall at the lake the best of all. But then I like fall, best of all.
Oh, lucky you! This year Autumn has probably lost her way to me. Because trees are still mostly green :/
What gorgeous colors! I love the reds!
Jeanie, your fall colors whether on the roadway or along the water are simply amazingly beautiful! Last weekend, we took a drive and saw some wonderful colors and hopefully will go walking in our favorite park this weekend before they go away. We've had rain today and cooler weather coming afterwards so the foliage should be wonderful and perhaps brief. A local cemetery has a lot of trees and it's a wonderful place to walk and read the weathered headstones, especially now when social distancing is easily done...no one there will even be talking.
You have stunning colors! I especially like the colorful trees at the lake, such eye candy! We still have to wait for color, it usually happens a bit later in October, but then they will be with us for quite some time.
Awesome photos!
The colors of trees are so stunning!
Those colors are STUNNING!!! That you for sharing. I just love fall. It reminds us there is beauty in letting go. Our colors aren’t that vibrant here yet. We are probably a week or so behind you guys, but I am seeing lots of orange and yellow on my walks. I am hoping to get to a state park before the peak is over as there are usually beautiful views on the trails.
Such beautiful scenes. I adore sunsets and you captured several gorgeous pics. The fall leaves are beautiful. That is one thing you get before us is beautiful autumn. The shot driving down the road is especially brilliant.
What a colorful post.
Your Autumns are so lovely where you live, Jeanie. They remind me very much of our Autumns up north. Here, in So Cal, we don't get the extreme seasons, but up north the Autumns are glorious. You get beautiful golds and oranges and reds. And I love that photo of the floating leaf. And your sunset photos are amazing.
~Sheri
I love your primitive Halloween figures!
