In Michigan, our autumn arrived late. But when it came, it dazzled.
We spent a lot of our October looking at scenes like this -- a few changing colors early, the rest green.
And then the gold came in.
A little of reddish orange began to show...
...soon bursting into a full-fledge, hot red.
Those bushes in the process of changing were a beautiful mix of different color tones.
Even the speckled, spotted leaves, getting ready to drop, were still shockingly beautiful.
The berries were coming out on the cedar trees, much to the delight of the robins.
Meanwhile, chipmunks were dashing through the woods...
...and squirrels scrambled through the trees. Everyone was gathering nuts when they found them.
Blue skies, gray skies -- it didn't matter. The colors popped.
I have to end this post with a few photos of Harry the Heron, still at the pond in the Ditch, though I haven't seen Ellie Egret for a couple of weeks.
He has such an sharp eye, doesn't he?
The lighting was just perfect for observing Harry on his latest suppertime venture.
He even had a little luck.
With the setting sun, twilight at the Ditch offers some beautiful views.
Soon he will be flying off to a warmer winter climate.
I hope he lands where you are!
I'll end where I began, a beautiful day with a blue sky and glorious color. I hope you're seeing it too.

Stunning photos! Our leaves are starting to drop now, and probably we'll lose more soon because it's going to be rainy and maybe cooler. And chipmunks are everywhere in our yard and often on our front porch, not just in the woods.
ReplyDeleteI hope your color lasts a while.

Those pink leaves are AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteFall turned out beautiful in your area! What great pictures!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos of this fantastic season, always my fave time of year. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThe same weather we had/have over here!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh the cutie pies!!! And Harry, of course :-)
Lucky him, wish I could fly to the warmth, too...
Yes, some colors have arrived, it´s really slow this year.
I started off thinking this fall would have dull foliage, Boy, was I wrong!
ReplyDeleteYou really captured some beautiful scenes! We had about a week of brilliant color and then, the rain and winds hit last weekend and cold temps so most of the leaves have fallen and given way to bare branches. We are expecting our first snow tomorrow - a bit early for my taste but then, ANY snow is a bit early for my taste haha!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fall colors and trees. The first reflection is lovely. I always enjoy the cute critters, the squirrel, Robin, Chipmunk and Harry the Heron.
Looks like a beautiful day to spend outside. Enjoy your day, have a great week ahead.
Fabulous photos. You are blessed to have such amazing subjects and inspiration, and we are blessed that you share them. Thank you for your kind words over on my blog too! They are deeply appreciated.

The color in my part of our state is no where near as pretty as yours. I LOVE your Harry shots. They look like watercolor paintings!
ReplyDeleteThese photos are gorgeous!! That chipmunk, so cute!!! And yes, this season is so beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteYou take such fantastic pictures. I am jealous!!!! You really have an artist's eye for composition and color-even in photos.
ReplyDeleteWe had 3-1/2" of snow this morning that was gone by noon. I am not ready for winter just yet but it was a pretty snow. xo Diana
What a wonder to see your fall in full splendor. You have so many different deciduous trees, each adding to the full glory. Harry needs to get a move on - he must enjoy your fall too much to fly away.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful collection of autumn impressions. We have nothing like that here. Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAlthough it may have been a bit late in arriving, fall certainly did finally get to Michigan with bursts of color, Jeanie. here in NH our 🍁colors are waning with days of wind and rain, but we still have some pockets of yellows and reds, just harder to find some days. Happy 🎃
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful shots! I especially love the first one!
ReplyDeleteI hope we still have some leaves left, after the rain that is predicted for tomorrow and Thursday....
Jeanie, your photos are incredible! I'm so glad you shared this Autumn glory because we don't get this variety of color. I love seeing it!
ReplyDeleteOh, simply stunning photographs you've shared … I loved them all :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Magnificent!Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWhat glorious pictures. I think the first and last are my favorite, but it's really hard to say.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fall colours!
ReplyDeleteOur fall pretty much mirrors your own, Jeanie. The leaves are mostly off the trees now, but there are still a few patches of glorious colour. We are supposed to get rain and high winds for the next couple of days, so I suspect that will just about finish it. A touch of snow is even possible by the end of the week.
ReplyDeleteYou got some great pictures here....and what a cutie that little chipmunk is! Great shot there. Wow, such pretty colors in all the LEAVES........we don't get that here, and it's fun to look at your pictures of them. What are the daytime temps like there now? We're still in the 80s here.
ReplyDeleteFall is glorious, isn't it? We are losing all our leaves at this point, but it is nice to see your beautiful colors and get a second shot of the season. Happy Wednesday. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Thanks for sharing yours. After such a long summer of such drought, I think we all feared we'd see no color, but it has been beautiful, especially this week. Our weather is forecast to turn sour later today with rain/wind, and no more 70° daytimes in the foreseeable future. :(
ReplyDeleteThe last photo is my favorite. I'd love to see such a sight, but I fear our color has been limited to the photos you've seen on my blog recently: colorful, but very small scale! We're foggy and warm this morning, and everything around here still is green, but there's a real front on the way, and we'll be into the 40s for lows the next couple of nights. That may be enough to convince a leaf or two to get with the program!
ReplyDeleteA lovely series! Love the robin and juniper berries!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! It's such a wonderful season!
ReplyDeleteAutumn is my favorite season.
I love your pictures!
These colorful trees, calm places. And Harry <3 I think you could relax during the walk, am I right?
Oh, my goodness. Such absolute beauty, Jeanie. I know you have thoroughly enjoyed glorious October. I do enjoy the photos of Harry and I know you will miss him when the snow begins to fly.
ReplyDeleteHappy days, Jeanie.
Oh Jeanie, the Autumn colors are showing beautifully around your area. Such wonderful photos, and I really liked the first and last one with the reflection of the trees in the water. And the Heron's reflection in the water was lovely too. Some areas get the golds, and some gets the oranges and reds, but you seem to be getting them all - how glorious is your Autumn.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween, Jeanie.
~Sheri
Sounds like you're enjoying some really beautiful Fall days.
ReplyDeleteJeanie your photographs are beautiful. I love the chipmunk and Harry. Is that a blueberry bush the robin is standing on?
ReplyDeleteStunning photos...great subjects for your painting. :)
ReplyDeleteFall colors are gorgeous, but I especially love the animal photos.
ReplyDeleteYour photos just make me green with envy. What we have here everything is viewed through a sepia mode: brown. No wait, white is mixed in. Thanks for the colors and nature fix, Jeanie.
ReplyDeleteIt just takes your breath away doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and narrative! Harry the Heron better take off soon!
ReplyDeleteOh Jeanie, amazing photography!!!! The only thing better is being there and seeing all of this live. Sure hope Harry isn't waiting to late. Driving to Birmingham yesterday we finally have a little color, it is always a beautiful drive in the fall and spring........
ReplyDeleteYep the colors are just changing now and its been raining and that bad word will be here soon. Janice
ReplyDeleteWOW>.....fall is popping in your area of the world. Love the colors and I love the pics. Looks so peaceful and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos. Lovely fall foliage and great wildlife shots.
ReplyDeleteNo fall color here sadly. Rain for three days in a row but we need it very badly.
Jeanie, your photos are just simply stunning! I adore seeing Harry and I do hope as he migrates south he stops by and pays a visit. Your leaves are gorgeous! Enjoy every moment of the most glorious season!
ReplyDeleteThose are the hottest reddish pink leaves I’ve ever seen!
ReplyDelete33 centigrade here today. Hottest October day since 1940 they said. Same tomorrow.
It asked for my Google, I can’t remember that stuff, so I’m anonymous.

What gorgeous photos! You must have had just the perfect lighting for the color to show up so clear and true! What a beautiful place to take photos! WOW!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Thanks for sharing the fall photos. Our fall was pretty muted here as it's been very very wet. We still had some fall colors but nothing like we usually have. I've still enjoyed the muted fall colors, though. It's one of my favorites times of year although I dread what comes next!!!
ReplyDeleteFall just takes my breath away! Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteThat is dazzling! I just love all your nature shots.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are just stunning! I felt like I was walking there with you.
ReplyDeleteSTUNNING, stunning photos, Jeanie!! Wow... you've been graced with great colors there this autumn...what JOY! :))) We've had a cold, wet, dull season here, not much color, mostly yellow quickly gone brown and fallen down... haha! Happy Days ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteYour nature pictures are gorgeous! I always find it hard to choose which is my favourite. I liked the close up of the American robin. It doesn't look very much like our robin but I guess it got its name because of its red breast. Robin Redbreast was always a popular English folklore character and it must have pleased some of those early settlers to see his counterpart!
