I'm revisiting a pair of tea parties today -- some special memories from favorite teas past and present!
Perhaps my favorite had to be the two make-and-take teas my friend Barb and I put on.
We drew together a small group of friends, did a creative project and then had tea! You can find the original posts HERE and HERE. We made handpainted silk scarves one time (below) and twig wreaths another.
Then it was time for tea! Of course we brought out favorite vintage teacups...
...and vintage teapots, too.
And we prepared quite a feast!
Party favors are a must. One one year I did little bookmarks and Barb made individual rose and carnation bouquets.
The other tea included a little plant to take home.
Of course you have to have plenty of tasty goodies!
And we had plenty! Savory...
...and sweet!
And even some that were healthy, too!
But best of all was good company, good manners and good fun!

That's quite a meal!
ReplyDeleteTea party? Count me in! Your teacups and teapots are pretty! I have several teacups that my mother-in-law gave me that were her mother's. I also have a cute one cup brown betty that was hers.
ReplyDeleteYou give the very best parties!
ReplyDeleteI love your lavish use of colorful flowers! And the food is to die for. I can't image making that many things without out going crazy. Your parties sound like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! Those are amazing looking tea parties. Your table is gorgeous and wow- you made some beautiful food too, both savory and sweet. I love all the roses you used to decorated with also. I remember your scarf making posts, in fact, I was thinking just this morning how I wanted to try that technique this summer. Thanks for sharing these photos and your story again. happy almost memorial Day weekend. Hope yours is a good one. hugs-erika

ReplyDelete"And even some that were healthy, too!" made me laugh! :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks like some yummy fun indeed!
You set a tea party fit for a princess. You really know how to serve HIGH TEA, dear Jeanie, I was particularly impressed with the savory, which is always my favorite on a tea plate/plate ensemble.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful table! And gifts, too! The bookmarks are a nice touch. I sold most of my teacups at a yard sale a few years ago. I just never bothered to use them anymore. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteTea parties are so much fun and I love the make and take idea! All of the food looks fabulous! Sometimes I will make us a tea supper just for myself and my husband. Fabulous way to show him that you care and such fun! xoxo

ReplyDeleteI love a good tea party! Pretty food, tea, friends and fun!
ReplyDeleteThese are nice tea times you had in the past, Jeanie. And the food looks so good, especially those chocolate mini pies, YUMMY! You know, Carnations are my second favorite flower. The scent is pretty, and they last a loooong time. It's not that often that I see them in red. Tea time is certainly a special part of the day. Thank you for the lovely post today, Jeanie. : )

Jeanie, love your tea parties. Everything looks so pretty and so good. Hubby and I love to stop at quaint little tea shops when we are on the road and partake, but at home we don't do it. Don't know why. I will have to do a tea post one of these days..Happy Friday..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming tea! ALmost too pretty to eat! I love the flowery teacup. And I wonder what those chocolatey tarts have in them. Right now I am trying to lose about 10 lb and so I'm kind of glad I don't have this in front of me, as it would certainly be just too tempting! :)
ReplyDeleteJeanie, what beautiful presentations! You have the gift of hospitality and love to gather people for food and fun! I wish that I lived near you so I could join in with you ladies! I love the craft idea to combine with a tea party! The food looks amazing! Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
ReplyDeleteI just adore this tea time soooo much! The pretty teacups and roses on the table just made it. The food looked delicious and what fun to do an art project too. Thanks for sharing again.
ReplyDeleteThere is something so special, so sensational, about a tea party. I want to have one as soon as school lets out, but it will probably just be ME but that's OK. I'll enjoy the garden myself and a good cuppa!

What a lovely tea party!
ReplyDeleteGoodness, what a fine pair of spreads. I’d have loved to be present. I can honestly say that I have never ever made my table look like yours. I have a suspicion that laying these tables was as much fun as actually sitting at them and consuming the excellent fare?
ReplyDeleteOh my word... This looks like soooo much FUN! Those first photos are so heartwarming. I've been to some high teas in Europe and a couple of tea party birthdays here in the States but I've never actually had a tea party of my own. And these photos make me want to try it! Thanks for the inspiration. Although yours look above and beyond and mine won't compare so I love getting to share in yours. Happy Memorial Day weekend to you!
ReplyDeleteTea parties are so fun, and boy girl did the two of you ever do a fabulous job! The food looks delicious and the vintage teacups and teapots are beautiful! thanks for sharing with the Tea and Roses link party.

ReplyDeleteI want to go to one of your tea parties!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love love love this table all set for tea, Jeanie!!!
ReplyDeleteAll the sandwiches look scrumptious ~ truly a feast for the eyes! Pinned, of course, to my At Table board for you and our readers. :) {I'd love to pin more but the Pinterest pins won't let you pick anymore... I didn't pick up the new "pin" when they changed so hopefully folks can change back to the old style. I like pinning more than one picture ~ helps others share! <3
It's so nice that you and your friends/customers would get together for tea and crafts. Was that what Marmalade Gypsy was? Wish we lived closer...
Have a fun week! Off to read more,
Hugs,
Barb :)
