Oh, what a site to see these days as you approach the Ditch!
Check out all those blossoms!
Blue sky, white flowers...
What's not to love?
The Ditch is on the quiet side this year. There aren't too many ducks or ducklings yet.
We think the rough winter took care of some who couldn't get food. And the females may well be nesting. But the boys were taking it easy on the banks!
Whenever I see the deer it feels like a gift.
And on this day, it felt like Christmas.
In the "third" pond, this one was grazing.
Then she crossed over to the land. She was harder to see -- the reeds covering her face.
So, I moved on, enjoying the lily pads...
...and the other ponds.
But then, this. Two of them.
Oh, their faces!
I thought I was pretty lucky in this bit of Eden. But then I saw this!
Three! Can you see him in the very back, just to the right of the deer on the left that is grazing?
That's better...
And check this out --
Did you see four? Yes, there were four, though one seemed to keep her head down. But she looked up here. (Another went out of range.)
Camera shy perhaps, unlike the others. Or maybe just hungry.
The deer always seem to have a message for me. They were clearly aware of my presence, other walkers, a barking dog.
Yet they knew we were no threat. "Be aware," they seemed to say to me. "But trust. Have faith in the people."
Wise thoughts to remember.

Great captures of the deer. Glad you are getting to enjoy the ditch.
Those deer shots are amazing! What kind of camera and lens are you using? My husband used to say that deer can tell the difference between a camera and a gun pointed at them. Are you sure there aren't five deer in the 4th photo from the bottom? Like one in the far left and top edge you might have missed? What a thrilling thing to see on an outing.
The deer are beautiful! They have superb hearing.
I know what you mean, when I see a deer, bird, ducks...etc out in the wild where they belong I feel like I have also recieved a gift. They are so amazing to watch. Great pics, good post! :)
Beautiful photos, ever so often we have deer in the backyard and it's such a treat.,
It is not hard to understand why you enjoy spending so much time there. These deer are probably well habituated to humans by now and I am sure you will be able to get many more great photographs.
How wonderful to see those cute deer! I'm always looking for them in the woods but rarely see any. Of course your photo with the view is amazing...such a pretty Spring scene. And the blue sky behind the white blooms is special too! I may just go back and look at all your pics again! Hugs!
Hello, I love seeing the cute deer. The blossoms are beautiful. Pretty scenes and photos. Have a happy day!
It's such a beautiful place to visit, Jeanie and it's wonderful that you enjoy your walks at the ditch so much. The deer are very sweet to watch and the blooming trees are such an eye-candy.
Such a lovely place to walk and seeing the deer give one such peace.
what a gorgeous setting! You are so lucky!
Oh, I love it. It looks like spring has sprung. Beautiful. We had so much wildlife when we lived at Dad's because we was on a tributary. It's amazing how much wildlife you get when you have a water source. Of course, we have the horses in the pasture here. They've been frisky the last few mornings.
Your photos are so calming. How wonderful to take the time to appreciate nature and be so generously rewarded. We often had evening visits from deer just beyond our old backyard. I miss their almost magical presence.
Lovely, as usual. I remember working with a young man who went hunting with a friend. They were not prepared to get one tho and so it sat in the back seat with it's head through the sky roof. When I saw his pictures it was so cute. We decided that from then on he would hunt with his camera - still had the proof that he "caught" it.
You have to give "the ditch" another name. It's so beautiful there! You are seeing more critters and blooms - it must be spring!
You must have great camera to get such amazing shots. I want to get shots of the antelope and elk here.
How special was that to see so many deer at one time. Like you, I believe it is a gift when we see the deer. : ) The lily pads are pretty, and such a striking color. Our blossom trees have come and gone, and it's starting to feel like summer now.

Thanks for sharing! Even in photos this is a treat for me. So much lovely spring and wilderness. I can imagine myself there. :-)
WOW, Jeanie, it really WAS Christmas for you at the Ditch. Beautiful photos of the deer, and great shots overall. I also loved the photos of the lily pads in bloom.
Great deer shots . . .”ditch deer dears!”
Spring has been gorgeous this year, hasn't it? After our winter it is nice. You had a banner visit, those deer are wonderful and I love the apple blossoms. I was a good walk for sure. Hope all is well and you are enjoying these gorgeous days. Hugs-Erika
I love all the glimpses of flora and fauna..nature is absolutely awe-inspiring:)♥
...a beautiful post....your photos are prize winning!!!
How lucky of you to see the deer up close.
The pond looks nice Jeanie, and the Spring flowers are so pretty.
Such beautiful pictures. I love this time of year when everything is popping out. Seeing the world bloom is a gift for sure.
Lily pads are some of my favorite things to look at in nature. So fascinating. Your pictures are just gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. :) Glad you got to see so many deer!
~Jess
How wonderful!
Yes. A good and wise message from the deer.
Jeanie, I grew up seeing deer all the time. My grandfather even found a baby fawn that had been abandoned by his mother. We called him Bobby and loved him until he got bigger and then made his way back to the wild. I don't see them so much any more since living close to town, but still get excited when I do. Your photos are so beautiful of the animals and nature. What a beautiful sight to be able to see on your walks..Happy Wednesday..xxoJudy
Oh, yay, yay, YAY "deer" spring :-)
Now the wonderful half of the year is there!!! (Not that the other is that bad, right, that´s life).
Celebration!!!
What a miraculous experience. And yes, saw all the deer.
Have another great one, Jeanie.
Have Faith in the People. Such a lovely thought. Your photos are enchanting, Jeanie.
Those lily pads look like a Monet painting don't they?
Yes.
Wow, this post has made my day. I love all the pretty photos, and those blossoms and the sky! Wow.
These are so gorgeous! How did you get these great shots?
I am picturing you wearing camoflauge with branches stuck to your hat. Ha ha. Please tell me that's how you did it. ;-D
Jeanie, your photos are magnificent! I would love to visit The Ditch! What kind of blossoms are those?
What lovely red lily pads! Our friends in Sonoma, CA area live on a hillside in Glen Ellen and befriended an orphaned baby deer they named Suzy. She comes to the patio door every day sometimes 3x a day to be fed and will let you pet her. But if their daughter is there with her dog, she stays away. She's now got a baby of her own but still comes around, not with her baby tho. Many homes on their hill burned (48 total) last fall so they were happy and relieved Suzy made it through and still comes around. They could see a buck following her recently so figure she may have another baby soon.
Jeanie, what a fabulous day at the ditch! I love your excitement as you see wildlife and then capture the moments on your camera for all of us to enjoy! I have always admired the grace and beauty of deer. Thanks for sharing your love for outdoors and nature!
Such BEAUTIFUL springtime moments! And I just love deer... just majestic, sacred creatures... :) Thanks for taking us back to the Ditch to see what's happening, Jeanie ((HUGS))
It is like eden for sure with all those deer. Oh my, the blossoms that greeted you were beautiful. Love seeing lily pads too.
There are deer all around here, but they tend to be more scattered, and when I see them, it's usually one or two getting ready to cross a road. There's a kind of green belt that extends for miles from one spot to another, and they travel that. It would be wonderful to have a place like the ditch where they could be seen just hanging out. That's more possible in the hill country -- or at NASA! The Johnson Space Center has a lot of land where they grow hay and have herds of deer and longhorns. Those rocket scientists know how to multi-task!
Hello, I love both the ducks and deer sightings. The blossoms are lovely too. Beautiful collection of photos Jeanie. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your day and weekend.
I see more deer when we go to town than out in the bush. I guess they are less afraid after hanging around with no one to hunt (human or animal predator) them. - Margy
Gorgeous bloosom and beautiful setting for these deers to grae. Have a wonderful weekend.
Beautiful scenery. I agree. Seeing deer does feel like a gift. You sure got some awesome shots!
Such beautiful deer! What a beautiful place...a symphony of sights and I am sure sounds that celebrate spring! Lovely post!
I love that you have this oasis to visit. What a wonderful place to let your pulse slow and to let go of the annoying, frustrating and saddening aspects of life! Those deer pics are beautiful! They are such pretty animals - especially when you are seeing them on foot and not in a car (Im always nervous about hitting one!).
I love this. What a beautiful walk. Thanks for linking your deer to Keep In Touch.
Such a fabulous day out with these lovely creatures!
They really are majestic! We see them often here, and I never tire of it. One was grazing in the tall grasses on our way home from church Sunday. You got some great shots. Love blossoms and just everything there is to love about spring, my favorite season! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
