Every city has their most colorful places. Paris is far from the exception. So, hop on my Parisian color tour!
Of course, in the spring you can marvel at the vast array of color in the Marches aux Fleurs.
Or, stop by one of the numerous florist shops where the colors will dazzle!
You can easily stroll along the Seine and observe some of the more colorful selections in the stalls of bouquinistes.
Of course, you'll want to stop for a gelato or better still a glace at Bertillon's!
But some things are colorful year round, no matter how gray the skies or white the ground might be. Although these windows at Printemps were photographed in June, I daresay the other seasons are equally dazzling.
The stained glass windows of almost any church can dazzle, but none so much, I think, as those of Ste. Chapelle.
Watching them go gently from brilliant to dark during a chamber concert only adds to the beauty of the music.
If you prefer your stained glass in a museum setting, don't miss the Musee de Moyen Age, also known as Cluny. It's my personal favorite museum in Paris. The stained glass is colorful to be sure, but so, too are the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries, which don't photograph so well unless your camera is better than mine!
If you are lucky enough to catch a ballet at Paris Opera Garnier, you must, simply for the Chagall ceiling.
You may even find an open door as you are touring so you can spend you time gazing at the ceiling without benefit of other interruptions!
And if this color tour has you craving a snack, you'll find color at your nearest patisserie, as well. Enjoy the colors while you are looking because after you make your purchase, you won't be looking long!
Finally, end the day with a magnificent sunset. An evening walk home through the City of Lights will be the perfect nightcap. (All the better if you enjoy it with a glass of vin rouge!)

So many other colorful parts of Paris came to mind as I looked at your beautiful photos -- piles of fruit and vegetables and even linens or shirts for sale in the open-air markets... children's clothing in playgrounds ... the many amazing merry-go-rounds with their painted animals... rose gardens in various outdoor places ...
ReplyDeleteAnd the opposite in winter when everything turns very grey and it's dark before 5 PM.
Lovely post!
I love those windows at Printemps...and the pastries look so delicious. All those flowers! So many beautiful colors in this post. Just my thing.
ReplyDeleteExceptionally well done photographs
ReplyDeleteBeaucoup des couleurs! Jeanie - what a wonderfully bright and cheery post about Paris - i love it. Great photos. My mouth watered at the sight of those pastries and macarons.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love all of these photos! And I am thoroughly enjoying your Paris post series, although it's making me homesick for Paris! It is such a beautiful, colorful city. I love all the corner groceries and flower markets and of course I love the window displays of the patisseries. They are masters of presentation in Paris!
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking us along. Your beautiful pics make me want to go back!
ReplyDeleteAnd are making me hungry............... :-) :-)
Paris is one big masterpiece. A patchwork of people, a book of poetry. OH JEANIE, don't cha just love her?
ReplyDeleteOh what a perfect post Jeannie! Gorgeous colours every one. And I've seen all those things at different times. Impossible to pick a favourite.
ReplyDeleteOh Jeanie, You know how I love Paris and your Paris post is such a feast for the eyes. I love the windows, any season and of course the flower stands. We always visit a lot of churches and cathedrals and St. Chapelle is one of my favorites. The light coming through the windows is stunning! Thank you for for a Paris tour this early morning...............
ReplyDeleteYour post makes me want to return to Paris some day.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteOh the memories of Paris. I do love her so. The colors in your photos are magnificent. Ste.Chappel is a favorite and of course the Cluny. But we can't miss the pastries and ice cream too. Now I have not visited the Chagall ceiling and it is beautiful. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI will always stand in amazement at the window displays in Paris. Not only the color, but the imagination is in such abundance! I loved the stained glass windows and the flower stalls as well, not to mention the patisseries, but for me the shop windows take all. Happy Bastille Day!
ReplyDeleteAt least one of our local florists has flowers sent over from France. We get some really tasty French plums that are a sort of orange colour in our local fruit and veg shop too.
ReplyDeleteAll of the photos are beautiful, and so perfect for a post like this. But you do know my favorite, don't you? That's right -- the small boat at the top. The sailing patching is wonderful -- as is the color of the foresail. Thanks for this wonderful "retrospective" -- it's a delight!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeletebeautiful photos of Paris, Jeanie. (I'm working on a "shrine" - you inspired me to try in an earlier post.)
ReplyDeleteOh, what pretty snaps! I love Paris and you're making me want to go back! Thanks for popping in to see me.

Why am I focusing on the ice cream and the pastries? Love that Chagall ceiling! Are you still at the lake?
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Everything from the churches to the pastries are exquisite! No wonder you love that city so...
ReplyDeleteLOVELY examples of Parisian color. I especially adore the toy sailboats and the Chagall ceiling at the Paris Opera.
ReplyDeleteOh, you've got some of my favourite things there - especially the Flower Market, which is fabulous. I always think I can smell the perfume of flowers before I actually the see the stalls and kiosks.
ReplyDeleteOh, what wonderful photos! It makes me want a trip to Paris.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful... thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh Gosh I'm missing Paris - thank you for taking me back & reminding me through your lovely photos of my wonderful time there in May!
