There are so many kinds of pottery and I love them all, but I have to admit,
I fell in love with the colorful pieces at Heather Lane Pottery in Ada, Michigan.
Face it. Even the exterior of the building is cute -- a sunny yellow
that seems to scream "Come on in!"
Heather Lane's pottery is made on site and all of it is bright and cheery.
It is well displayed in several showrooms.
If you take a look at the windows here, you'll see a valance.
All of these are pottery pieces. I'd not seen these anywhere else.
The yard sticks were pretty cute, too!
My favorite room included their signature blessing bowls
and a large number of Michigan-themed pieces. It was beachy and beautiful!
Even the bathroom was pretty cute, with a mosaic vanity from broken pottery pieces.
(You can buy bags of broken pottery pieces in their sale area.
I didn't. But I was sure thinking about it!)
Bright tulips, enchanting birds, happy bunnies.
They all exist on everything from spoon rests to egg cups, bowls, vases and plates.
One of the fun things about Heather Lane is that you can
go back and watch the pottery being painted.
The day we were there, four women were painting
over the bisque bowls and plates.
The work was rather details, but they graciously said
"Come on over and watch!" So we did!
Heather Lane also has its own website for those unable to travel to
Western Michigan. Check it out! You might fall in love, too!

What a delightful and colorful place! Like a candy store, and... makes me think of a Wes Anderson movie. ;)
Now that is a CHEERFUL place! WOW isn't that lovely! Last summer, we drove out to lakeside Wisconsin to a town where some friends were getting married. The shops were similar to this and one shop after another was filled with local art and was so charming! Those women have a super job to do! Enjoy your weekend, Jeanie! Anita
I love the cheery yellow exterior of that store - it is definitely VERY inviting! Too fun. And I also like how the walls inside are different colors too. And the pottery? So beautiful. I love looking at places like this and they tend to be great places to pick up a gift for someone.
The pottery is one of my favorite crafts at craft shows. Heather Lane has some beautiful pieces. I'm drawn to the colorful pieces, too. Who wouldn't want to drink their morning coffee out one of those mugs? And wouldn't you love the job of painting those colorful pieces on a bleak winter day?
What a neat place to go to!
Hi Jeani! Oh, this place really makes your smile! I love it and I would love some of those pieces too. I've never been to Michigan but I would love to come see you and go to this pretty place and buy all of the loot - if I were rich! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
What an enchanting place and, yes, even the bathroom looks wonderful. I want to go to their website but fear that it could be dangerous to my pocketbook.
How wonderful! I so love colorful ceramics.
What a happy place. I think I would be walking around the shop just smiling. This was a fun adventure, I am sure!
I always feel like such a weirdo or grump when you post about places like this. Just not my thing. BUT! I'm glad you got to go, and that you took such obvious pleasure in it. It is a cheerful sort of place, and I love the exterior of the building. Yellow always makes me happy.
I did have to laugh at myself. You mentioned "yard sticks" and I looked and looked without finding a single yardstick. Then I realized that you meant those thingies you stick in your yard. I was looking for 36" long wooden sticks you use in measuring things. :)
What a charming, happy place! I love Michigan, anyway, but this seems reason enough to make the excursion. Who doesn't love a cheerful bathroom even?
Me too, Linda. :)
The pottery-shard countertop looks neat. Mostly I've seen that used when some unfortunate event breaks all your dishes and you don't have anything left. But this is really cheerful!
All this color is a great blessing right now, and I love the idea for a broken tile bathroom counter! Plenty of gorgeous inspiration here!
What a charming place. Love the pottery. Deb
That does look like such a bright and cheerful place! How fun :)
Susan
Such beautiful whimsy...I love
the bathroom sink:)
Thanks for sharing the magic,
Jennifer
The sunny exterior was very inviting, but I'm still wide-eyed and smiling over those bright green apple walls!
Oh, that place is dangerously fun and full of beauties... LOL! Very fun to see the woman at work painting the pottery pieces. So what did you go home with??!! ;o) Such fun to see so much from your trip, Jeanie ((HUGS))
Hello sweet Jeanie! Thanks for coming by; I will continue to visit blogs, but there is so much on my plate these days. Thanks for the fun! Anita
Oh it's been a while since I popped in - love the new look blog. Also loving the yellow here. What a lovely way and space to spend some time.
A great place! And very interesting to watch the painters at work!
Oh wow, I think I may have never left this shop! So bright and welcoming outside and inside enchanting! You know the hutch filled with pottery is gorgeous......I can’t get enough. I’m scrolling back and forth so I don’t miss anything. I love the happy colors and patterns. Did anything come him with you?
Loved this tour..............Love, love your header and background!!!!
Hugs,
Emily
Oh Jeanie,
What a magical place! I could get lost in there... I love the sunny yellow of the outside also.
Thank you so much for wanting to be included in my humble little giveaway.
Enjoy your week, and thank you so much.
