In May it will be two years since Gypsy moved up-up-up to the Heavyside Layer and every day I miss my sweet boy. I continually think of his sweet presence surrounding me in that way that only a beloved pet can.
But in this news flash from the department of bad housekeeping, I had a far more tangible Gypsy sighting. This is a reminder to those of you with pets who never think about cleaning your keyboard to consider doing so now and then!
I'm sure there are better tools for this but I was running a bent paper clip in the spaces of my portable keyboard and look what I found!
Yes, a fistfull of Gyppy fur. And it shouldn't surprise you to learn that there are a few glitter sparkles, too!
I knew he shed a lot and like Lizzie, he loved to sit close to the keyboard while I worked -- or sometimes, after I'd gone.
But I had no idea he'd left so much of himself behind! Or perhaps I should say how much of his behind he left behind!
And so, take this tip from the Offices of Bad Housekeeping -- check your keyboard now and then. You never know who might show up!
(And a note -- while I was a little disgusted with myself for not cleaning the keyboard more often and frankly, uncertain whether I should even post this because it is a little embarrassing, I have to say, it kind of made me smile to find a little of my boy, right where I work, every day.)
See that a part of him has been right there with you all this time .
ReplyDeleteJust a reminder that they are always with us. I think I would keep that little tuft of hair as a keep-sake. He was such a darling.
ReplyDeleteAww. I bet there are a few more in there, for you to enjoy the next time. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had a black dog for a long time, but we still find a black hair from time to time. I'm glad to know he's still with us. Sort of.
:-)
He was such a pretty little cat and what a cute little nose. Well, he was there all the time.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I can see the dust between my keys. But there are dirtier places I could work on if so inclined. If I were you, I wouldn't try to outdo some of the rest of us in the bad housekeeping department.
ReplyDeleteI think we were finding dog hair for years and years after our dog was no longer with us, but it's been around 20 years now, so I wonder if there's any left (not counting inside the cold air returns).
I love this.
ReplyDeleteFur *and* sparkles.
That Gypsy boy, he had style.
Awwww - Gypsy! I have a feeling he was meowing about the cleanup! I love that first photo of him - can't believe it's been almost 2 years.
ReplyDeleteI loved this post! Gypsy did leave quite a bit behind, and I love your humor in telling us about it. He was so beautiful, and so loved. While, my dogs, don't get on the furniture or near the computer, you would not believe how much fur we have everywhere! I'm sure there is some in my keyboard too.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it is bad housekeeping. It is just a testimony to how much he loved being close to you.
ReplyDeleteAwe - I think like you...loved this. Our Alley is always right beside me too. just looked down at my keyboard...ummm

Gypsy was a handsome boy! I think it's nice that you found a bit of him. I still miss my sweet babies who have gone to the other side.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's time to clean the keyboard.
ReplyDeleteSoooo lovely to see they Gypsy-boy...*sigh*... Has it really been 2 years soon already? Gypsy fur & sparkles... that sounds like type of yarn to me! ;o) WOW... that is a good bit of fur there--enough for a small animal...LOL! Very sweet... He's been with you all the while, in many ways. :o) ((LOVE & HUGS))
ReplyDeleteOh Jeanie, this is such a poetic moment....bless this sweet little boy who left behind traces of his presence...
ReplyDeleteI know someone who might be able to make a rug for you out of that...
ReplyDeletei keep Dixie's shedding a little under control by brushing her twice a day. It's just our routine, and she loves it. Even so, I'm always amazed when I get out my special tool (a metal fingernail file) and run it down the keyboard. You really wouldn't think...
I love that there were sparkles, too!

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet moment, and a charming story! Maybe you could make a small envelope just for Gypsy relics? (and the sparkles, too, of course!)
ReplyDeleteMy keyboard, alas, yields nothing quite so noteworthy...
Funny I should read this today. The grands were here this weekend. We made a trip to GoodWill and bought a couple of toys. My granddaughter chose three little mice. They made all the noises they were supposed to make but would not scoot across the floor like they were supposed to. H and my DIL took them apart and found lots of hair wrapped around the wheels. Hair is everywhere. Sweet Gypsy, just couldn't bear to leave without leaving a little reminder behind.
ReplyDeleteI've been pretty much unplugged this week. I can't believe how much I've missed here. You are a busy lady. I've gone and left comments everywhere. Loved it all.
ReplyDeletekind of sweet to "hear" from him
ReplyDeleteso recently and have all those images to keep the memory warm and lit up bright:)
so sad losing a pet....big tender hug to you, warmhearted friend:)

bad hair day! Have a great weekend - I hope you sell out - your scarves, etc. look terrific.
ReplyDeleteAw, you definitely should not feel embarrassed... you should have seen all the stuff I had spilled on my last laptop. I always eat while reading blogs (as I am now) so it can get a bit messy. :/ Gypsy definitely left his mark on your life in countless ways!
ReplyDeleteYour Gypsy was a beautiful boy that is certain and he could have been a twin to my Cody as you know. How did you clean your keyboard? With a brush? You can tell that I have not done any cleaning yet…. I saw your pictures of Niagara Falls in the snow – smashing for sure!
ReplyDeleteSo long as it didn’t make you cry!
ReplyDeleteSmiling! I do remember when my special Daphne died and finding her fur in different place just made me smile. I am sure there is a bit of Joey in my keyboard though I blow spray air through the keys regularly.
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet memories.
