Everyone has their favorite Parisian shopping spots. My day would start here. This is Victor Boulangerie on Rue Rambuteau, but it could be anywhere!
I'd have to stop at a bookstore -- any bookstore is fine, but Shakespeare and Company remains a favorite.
There was nothing about this shop I didn't simply love!
And you never can tell if you'll find something interesting or fun at the bouquinistes.
I'm not sure Parisian stores have much in my size, but I certainly loved the windows at Primtemps.
They have a knack for making simply everything look very beautiful -- and very different.
At Gallerie Lafayette, I think I loved the store itself better than the merchandise.
Especially the Tiffany ceiling!
A perfect day would include a walk down the Champs Elysses. Or maybe I'd pick up one of these little smart cars to drive around Paris!
As long as I was there I'd stop in the Swarovski store.
Aren't these steps terrific? Talk about a stairway to Paradise!
If I wanted to hear a little music, I would bring Rick to Rue du Rome where the music stores for serious musicians are in abundance.
He would pick the best store...
...and then go in and play music with the owner as he determines whether or not a guitar from Paris is in his future. (It wasn't.)
I might find a flea market and a special treasure!
They seem to simply pop up all over Paris!
Flowers! One must have flowers!
And of course I'd need a little snack -- maybe something creamy.
Or elegant, like Lauderee.
Or healthy.
Or maybe not!
I couldn't spend time in Paris without going to BHV.
And for whatever reason (not being a carpenter) I can't resist the downstairs with lumber and light switches and all sorts of home building things.
And whether I was shopping for real...
Or window shopping...
I know I would have a fine time, an empty wallet and very sore feet!

Nice photos. I didn't do anything I consider shopping, though I did walk through several outdoor markets without considering any actual purchases.

Oh fun! There are SO many great places to shop in Paris! My favorite place on my last trip was the food market in the Bastille. I am planning to check out a different market on this trip, I think... We'll see. I have not been to Galleries Lafayette, so will be checking that out as well - it will be decorated for CHristmas I think so will look very grand I imagine!!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I too adore the basement of BHV - I always leave with something; the little 'warning' signs in French about cats are particularly cute - 'Chat Lunatique', for instance!

ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous post. Shopping in Paris is amazing of course. I just discovered Rue Rambuteau a few days ago- wow, lots of amazing places there. I wish I'd known about BHV before we left Paris- I meant to buy a new door knocker but didn't find anywhere. Now I will have to wait years to get back there again. :-( I love the ceiling at Galleries Lafayette too, it's stunning.
