As for fun things -- this worked for me. I'm not sure how to use it. But I loved the colors! Do you think it's a calculator?

Oh,,that's my fave thing to do. We have an awesome shop in my little town called "Yesterdays Treasures". It has room after room of Treasures. I can spend half of a day there. Rosemary and I go to it sometimes when she is visiting. Love all the Goodies that you found! Have a Lovely Week-end!

Hi Jeanie. Fun times and a great window shopping break. I remember my mom wearing straight skirts and sweaters like that when I was very young. I think I have a picture of her and me and she was dress like that. Even her hair was short.

I remember a toy like that with letters-you would move the letters around to the slot in the middle and spell things. This one looks like you could do math problems in a calculator sort of way, but you would have to come up with your own answers.

So I'm wondering if the "calculator" is really an abacus of some kind? It says "letters and numbers" - so maybe something children practiced on? Very intriguing.

ReplyDeleteOh I had one of those number boards! I can't remember if it was mine or it was a toy at my Grandma's though. I don't think I used it much, math was never my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI love old linens! I seem to be really drawn to the vintage tablecloths whenever I see them. I loved Downton Abby and was going to order it on DVD but got to looking and found some other movies I've never seen, The Bucaneers, which was wonderful. I watched it in one sitting and it was over 6 hours long and Berkeley Square. I highly recommend both. have a fabulous weekend!

Even if you don't buy anything you came away with a time of just pure enjoyment. I love doing this and taking the camera. It was a gift you gave yourself of some down time. How fun! I did this on Thursday and didn't even take a picture, but just enjoyed.

ReplyDeleteI was in an antique mall this weekend, but I was selling rather than buying! I took in a set of Haviland that's been in storage - it's a pink and lavendar pastel which is great for spring or trousseaus, so it was time to move it.
ReplyDeleteThe good news is that the brick and mortar places around here are reporting better business, especially for china and such. The increase in shipping makes it unfeasible to sell it on ebay now - who wants to pay more for shipping than their dishes?
I think I would have gone with the tea towels. OH! Which reminds me - I found a photo processing program which turns a photo into nothing but colored "x"s instead of pixels. You could turn any photo into a cross-stitch pattern in a jiffy! I'm going to see what I can do with Dixie's portrait, and if it looks at all workable, I'll share the info then.
