Meagan from Plus Size Barbie was asking me when I would be decorating for Halloween. I told her I'd post some photos when I got it all done. (The card with the witch, below, is from Joanne!)
It all begins looking something like this -- only the pile is much bigger.
I start with the china cabinet. That's where one of the trees goes and a few of my favorite things. (If you make the photo bigger, you'll see postcards by Joanne and Beth and an ATC by Linda on the cabinet.)
Then there's the entertainment center. I hate my entertainment center -- circa 1990, probably from Target or someplace like that. Ugly. So I cover it as much as possible.
In this case, I decided to use a base that could stay through Thanksgiving -- leaves and my copper teakettles -- so when I took down the other Halloween tree, I was still decorated. That little black feather tree came from TJ Maxx last weekend. I think it was about $8.
Next come the book cases. If I have an open shelf, it gets pumpkins. Most of these can stay up through November. The Halloweenies will go.
I love this gourd -- he can stay up through Thanksgiving, too.
Some of the cat collection comes down so I can add this guy in the middle.
And then come the stuffies, like my fun black cat...
...and happy pumpkin head.
And flowers atop the telly.
And here on the other book case. (Check out the placemat from K-Mart. Very spider-webby and only $2.50.)
I'm not doing so much in the family room this year -- the hearth gets a pumpkin... (TJ Maxx, with real gourds and crystal).
The mantle continues the copper theme, but the garland is ATCs from various swaps.
This little vase belongs on the dining table.
And here is my favorite easy decoration of the year.
Tons of mini-pumpkins (a big bag of 10 was about $5), a big column vase and a ribbon. The cat-head-on-a-stick I already had!
On November 1, I'll take down the most Halloweenish and add a few turkeys and we're good to go for November!
(Don't forget, I am now posting public television picks of the week on my other blog, Chopsticks and String. This is partly because I haven't had time to read! Check 'em out!)
What a cool load of fun stuff. I LOVE the purple cat.
ReplyDeleteLove your decorations; all I do is a small table and tree branch in my front hallway.
ReplyDeleteLooks so awesome!!
ReplyDeleteYou really get into the Halloween spirit. How fun! I love all the decor and of course, the cats are my favorite. I enjoy your blog so much. Have a great Monday. Deb =^..^=x5 (Ottawa)k
ReplyDeleteThat is quite the fun display of decor. I've found that I've been limiting my seasonal decor the past few years. I think partly because it is such a job to put it up and take it down. I look forward to going back to decorating like crazy when Chelsea is old enough to help!

Love your decor! Great idea to make a garland out of wapped ATCs (great way to display them!). I also love your column vase full of pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great! Where did you get a "big bag" of 10 mini pumpkins for only $5.00??!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great assortment of Halloween/Autumn decorations. I love it all. I have a few things up, but not as many things as this. If I were there I would love just looking at all your decorations.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so Halloweenie!
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting your decorations! I LOVE IT!!! I feel like this post was just for me!
ReplyDeleteI love how it all looks so vintage! I love, love, love your Halloween Tree and your Garland! I wasn't going to do a Halloween Tree but now you have inspired me. I never thought about putting out cards either.
Oh my, now I'm going to have to do some more decorating. Maybe I can post pics of my decorations too! That would totally be copying though.
Would you mind if I copied you? I think copying is a form of flattery right? hehe!
I think I said this exact same thing the last time I came here, but it is still true....I love seeing the things creative people can do. I especially like the vase filled with mini-pumpkins.
ReplyDeletethe mini pumpkins in the glass vase is such a beautiful creative idea ~ love it
ReplyDeleteOh you have some goooood stuff! Great pictures, girl!
ReplyDeleteyou are one busy decorating lady. i would love to be able to drop-by and see all your wonderful decorations. enjoy...
ReplyDeleteYou must have the world record of Halloween decorations! A fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the look at your cool Halloween/fall decorations. I keep intending to put mine out, but I really want to clean house first. Since I've had Bobby everyday this week, that has been out of the question. No Bobby tomorrow, so maybe I'll wake up ready to clean.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have the Halloween spirit Jeanie!

I love the ATC banner what a great idea. I love the decorating especially the entertainment centre idea. I can maybe do that to our TV stand that I hate and DH loves.
