Once Upon a Time...

Once upon a time, a little girl lived in a house on a hill with her big, furry dog.

She loved to play in the snow.

She'd eat snowballs and make her own snow cones.

She'd sit on snowbanks and suck on icicles.

Winter made her very happy.

That was then. This is now. Well, at least February is the shortest month of the year!

That said, it's a grand time for reading. Visit my other blog, Chopsticks and String, for a look at the most recent of Jacqueline Winspear's "Maisie Dobbs" books, "Among the Mad."

  1. Some people look the same when they were little as they do now...you are definitely one of them. Your cheery characters shines then as it does now when you post pictures.
Yes, february is short, then comes march, and with any luck, april will mean spring!

  4. Is that a Flexible Flyer? That was the kind I had - and got rid of only a few years ago. It hung in my folks' basement for years, and then mom and I both got tired of hauling it around.

I thought it would be great as a Christmas decoration outside the door, but clearly it had a 50/50 chance of being stolen, so we just sold it ;-) If there had been snow here on a regular basis, I might have kept it!

  7. February is the shortest month because the people of the world would rebel if it were longer. Every 4 years, it tries to expand by a day, but is subsequently beaten back into submission. By the way, your photos are enchanting.

  12. I would have sworn I already left a comment here, especially with the reference to the Maisie Dobbs books. Oh, well. So - Miss Jeanie - you have not changed a bit. You are still bright eyes and curly topped and adorable.
