Posting things I love all month, Christmas things that make me happy, is tons of fun. But to me Christmas has lots of meanings.
Christmas is the celebration of new traditions with the men I love most -- here we are cookie decorating on Christmas Eve, an annual tradition.
Christmas is getting together with friends. Here are two pix of us at my house last week. Christmas is the celebration of new traditions with the men I love most -- here we are cookie decorating on Christmas Eve, an annual tradition.
Christmas is snowpeople -- real...
And of the decorative variety!
Christmas is remembering special childhood moments -- looking at the creche...
Christmas with my best childhood pal, Major...
And those great Christmases with my mom -- the ultimate Christmas Queen!
Christmas is recalling carols by the piano with my uncle and cousins.
Christmas is entertaining...
...and setting a lovely table (with Christmas dishes, of course!)
Christmas is special ornaments. The gingerbread man atop the tree in the photo above was made by my dad for mom in an "original wrapping" contest we had. He sewed it by hand and stuffed a pair of earrings in the space he left in the seam!
Christmas is a cup of tea or hot chocolate with Christmas cookies from this teapot...
Or this one!
Or this right jolly ol' hand!
And little marshmallow snowmen!
Christmas is my next door neighbor's lawn decorations! (This is only a wee corner.)
Christmas is a chatty orange boy who loves sitting under the tree.
And of course, there is the spiritual component of Christmas, one I can never forget.

I wish those of you who celebrate Christmas a merry one, and those of you who celebrate other things -- Solstice, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and of course the New Year, many happy moments this holiday season.
How sweet and precious indeed.
ReplyDeletebut in this season it it well to reassert that the hope of mankind rests in faith. As man thinketh so he is. Nothing much happens unless you believe in it, and believing there is hope for the world is a way to move toward it.

Every picture had me saying "Oh!" with delight. Every one of them such a treat, from the pictures of you and your family and your dog, Major, to the marshmallow snowmen, and oh, the table setting!!!! I'm inspired (and will be trying a few new things at our table this year.)
ReplyDeleteYour house is lovely, Jeanie, and thanks for sharing with us. Christmas hugs to the Gypsy and of course, to you!!!
Your house looks so festive! How nice to have all your boys there to decorate cookies and spend time together. I love all your photos. Give sweet Gypsy a hug!
ReplyDeleteCan I be adopted by your family for Christmas season? I think I've been misplaced. Love the photos and traditions. Very cool! I love that you can still get grown boys to decorate cookies.
ReplyDeleteI loved this post. And I loved the gingerbread man your dad made! Merry Christmas to you and Rick and Greg and Kevin!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you!!!! I love this post....the most wonderful thing on here is your Mom's Christmas skirt! That is classic! Hope you have a wonderful holiday!

I love Christmas and do very little other than the usual shopping, which I try to do all year, so it isn't a big deal, but we love being warm and loving the Lord on Christmas. I wish you a Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteLike Oh, every picture here made me feel deeply happy. You have a great gift for celebrating the season, and if it is to be a long, dark winter, I am certain that we are better with you in this world making your kind of warm, bright magic. Merry Christmas to you all!
ReplyDeleteLovely thoughts and lovely images!

Though I enjoyed seeing all your wonderful pictures, my favorite is the one of you and your doggie. That was a lovely shot.
