Snow Everywhere!

All day yesterday it snowed. Relentless, “big” snow that looked like clumps of laundry lint falling from the sky. Leaving and getting home was a bit of a challenge – the freeway hadn’t been well plowed and people were driving sideways, which was a bit crazy!

Before I left the office yesterday afternoon, I checked in on some blogs – I’m enjoying participating in the One World, One Heart giveaway and visiting many new blogs, as well as old friends!

I was able to connect with one OWOH contact who lives about 90 minutes from here near Kalamazoo and we discussed the merits of hot chocolate. My correspondence with Joanne reminded me I needed to stop at the store on the way home and pick up some packets for a cold evening! I also checked in on Penny at Lavender Hill who had written about tomato soup. I thought that sounded like a good idea!

So, I left the office to this (all these pix look blue – it was dusky, cloudy and I have a crummy camera!).

Doesn’t this bike look like it misses spring?

Or this one?
The trees were rather glorious, though…

And the bushes drooping, under the weight of the heavy, wet snow!
After my stop at the store (where I couldn't resist buying a mini-daffodil plant, either!), I cruised down my very snowy street (I live on one of the streets they don’t plow till after everything else is clear) and managed to get stuck in my driveway (but bailed out soon after by my dear neighbor Frank!)

As you can imagine, there was a bit of edginess during the drive and some grumbling about stepping in eight inches of snow in my tennies. Then I got in and turned on the news.

I was reminded of the terrible storms in Tennessee, where several of my blogger buddies and art group pals live. They’re OK, but Beth spent the night in the ER with her mom who was taken there for un-storm-related issues. They spent much time in the hall during the tornado warnings. And Rosemary was out of immediate danger, but her neighboring counties were badly hit. I saw broken buildings, tossed-about-cars, and heard of deaths. My drive, even with its skidding, didn’t seem like a very big deal.

Reality check. Point taken.
I made my tomato soup, some Jeanie Crostini (that recipe is in the blog archive – probably December; it’s a favorite!) and enjoyed some hot chocolate.

I settled in, put my new daffodil plant in the kitchen (it looks nice with my new yellow walls and piggy (or cow and kitty) banks...

...and was most grateful

It was beautiful, but very bad for driving. I agree with you about the snow being much easier to deal with than the tornadoes that ripped through the South. Lots of prayers and good wishes to those people. I like your photos, particularly the bike ones. Your tomato soup looks delicious.

Thank you again for checking up with us. Wow, that snow is gorgeous!! Your pictures are marvelous! How far away are you from Charlevoix? I spend a little while up there with a friend who has a "cottage" there. I found Michigan to be gorgeous. Your dinner looks yummy. We had vegetable soup last night. I just bought me some blooming bulbs, yours are sweet too! xoxo (Rosemary--blooger won't let me sign in--go figure!)

Hi Jeanie. Your snow is awesome. Makes the little I saw in November look sooooo whimpy. clearly good warm food cookin' inside to offset the cold.

OH,,I would Love to have at least one pretty snow like this winter. But if it isn't going to snow,,then please,,no more tornadoes, just lovely spring weather, thank you very much. Mom is feeling better.
I Love your Daffodil plant. I bought a new African violet friday afternoon. Right after I popped my back out putting a case of water in my trunk. I have done nothing this week-end and thoroughly enjoyed it. Take care!!!

Gorgeous photos and yes, snow is always preferable to a tornado (have lived through both extremes). I read that Bush is trying once again to cut PBS funding - for seven years in a row! What's his problem? He doesn't want people to be educated and entertained? Guess a big public fund-raising drive is just around the corner? Bon chance et bon courage! xo
