Today is Nicole's Friday Face-Off portrait challenge, in which we share portraits we have done of another. Now, if I was really doing this right, it would be something more recent than these. But, as they say, "it's been a month" (or two). So a couple of oldies. I'll kick it off with Rick. (All of these were done in watercolor on paper.)
Then there were these two of Carson. He's our oldest grand. (To give you an idea of how long ago I did these, Carson will be 9 in February.)
And other, done at the same time. (I made his mouth too red here. I need to go in and fix that.
Here's one of their mom, Molly
But I really love doing pet portraits. This is my cousin's cat, Woody.
Your portraits are amazing! It’s hard to pick a favorite, but if forced to, I choose Lizzie.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful paintings! Sure, can see your favourite subject. Loved the details in eye! You are so creative. Keep painting and Keep sharing with us! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteWow Jeanie. I am impressed. These are wonderful portraits. I think portraits might just be your thing. :) Stay warm. hugs-Erika

ReplyDelete...Jeanie, you had some wonderful subjects to work with and did beautiful jobs!
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since I've done any drawing. Maybe I will do some this weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou did well. Would my selfies count? Kidding.
ReplyDeleteOMG, you are such an amazing artist!!!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness! Your portrait is wonderful!!! I love it and you are an incredible artist. I'm inspired to try a portrait in watercolor. Have a lovely weekend Jeanie!
ReplyDeleteGosh, you do well at portraits! I like Rick's the best but the boys have that special thing, too, that a brush can capture better than a camera. And of course, who wouldn't like pet portraits. I recently did a yellow cat and couldn't get the eyes right. Seeing yours I know what is missing in mine, now!
ReplyDeleteWonderful series of awesome portraits ~ hugs,

ReplyDeleteThese are all amazing portraits, but my two favorites are the ones of Carson. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteHello Jeanie,
ReplyDeleteI love all your portraits, well done! You are talented.
Take care, enjoy your day and happy weekend.
Wow these are fabulous! I tend to shy away from people in my art work.. though weirdly I was just going through old art work for a post I'm pulling together and saw that in high school and college I did a lot of portrait work. I have never attempted them in watercolor though.
ReplyDeleteJeanie, I love your portraits! I've seen most of them, of course, since I've been following you for soooooo long. I've pretty much disappeared from the blogosphere for a while now (hoping to post next month and catch up with my favorite bloggers). I've also hardly gotten my brushes wet for months now and plan to start again, so I thought I'd begin my "catching up" with *you*! Such perfect timing. Thanks for the motivation!
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing, Jeanie! The ones of the little boy really tug at my heart. What talent you have.
ReplyDeleteJeanie, I love them all! I would be hard pressed to pick my favorite, but I think it would be Carson! Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteCathy
Faces are hard! But in this collection your gift for showing tender, insightful details -- Rick's bemused pensiveness, Carson's smiles, Molly's openness, and, of course, all those wonderful all-knowing cats' eyes -- is beautifully clear. It was such a treat to see these -- thank for sharing!
ReplyDeleteJeanie, these are gorgeous! You have tremendous talent! I love your art!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, these are fabulous! You have such a talent -- and I love how you capture the mischief in the pet portraits.
ReplyDeleteTHESE ARE AMAZING!!!!!!! I can't even do a stickman! These are incredible!
ReplyDeleteOK, I want to know how you do this. OMGosh the skin tone on all of these are magnificent. Especially on Rick. Seriously, I do believe it is the best I have ever seen. Each piece is spectacular including the kitties. Each peace is so well observed right down the smallest details. Can't believe Carson is 9 already. Thank you so much for sharing your art with FFO and the portrait challenge.
ReplyDeleteHave the very best weekend
Jeanie, I like all your portraits, very well done :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Wow, those all are amazing. Lizzie is a cutie!
ReplyDeleteWow, these are just amazing!
ReplyDeleteNow I wish I took part.
ReplyDeleteI should think anyone would love for you to paint their portrait or that of their cat or other pet. These are all very like. But of course, so appealing compared to the picture or model you were working from. Yes, paint more portraits!!
ReplyDeleteYou have such a lovely watercolour technique!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful paintings! I love the one of your Marmelade Gypsy. You are very gifted.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteJust Awesome
ReplyDeleteQuite impressive portraits! Well done!
ReplyDeleteLooks like Nicole has summoned all of you to give it a try. You did very well, Jeanie.
ReplyDeleteReally well done!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! Excellent ..Just wow!
ReplyDeleteJeanie, you are so talented. How fun to see these incredible portraits. Kudos to you.
ReplyDeleteJeanie. I’m really impressed with your paintings! I painted one years ago when I was in Florida. I think it was so so. I’d really like to do more animals.
ReplyDeleteWOW these are all so amazing!!! Great job. You are so talented. Janice
ReplyDeleteOf course you know which are my favorites. They're the ones you did of my Dixie Rose, and of my favorite squirrel! Dixie's just above my computer, and the squirrel's on a living room bookshelf, where I can see them every day. You did Dixie from a photo of her at about four months old, and every time I look at it, I remember her, and taking the photo. It's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt really takes a special talent to do faces well. Your portraits are outstanding! Lovely to see the real person in your drawing.
ReplyDeleteExcellent, Jeanie! I really love the one of Rick!
ReplyDeleteThese are great. I have not ventured into faces and rarely do animals. I always say I don’t do faces , Fur, feathers and there’s one other F. none of the artists that I followed to them much either so I have not been tempted very often. Never faces ..thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Jeanie. You nailed these. Kudos.
ReplyDeleteYour portraits are exquisite, Jeanie. The grands are so cute, I really like Molly's portrait and you captured Rick so well. My favorites of course are the cats - how can they not? I have never tried to paint any of "my" cats that I "had" throughout my life, but perhaps I should try this. Wonderful work, Jeanie!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful, Jeanie!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful, Jeanie!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun site you started with, i got lost over there and followed her. Your portraits are so good...a tip I did find out for highlighting is a tube of white gouache mixed with the color underneath...to highlight something...makes an easy fix. Sometimes 2-3 or layers of lightening, getting lighter on top of each HUGS< Sandi
ReplyDeleteJeanie I am in awe....you are so talented and I have no words to express your beautiful pics. They are perfectly matching the originals. Great job my friend.
ReplyDeleteThese look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI really like the one of Molly. Her sunglasses provide an interesting effect.
ReplyDeleteWow, dear Jeanie, these are absolutely wonderful portraits!
ReplyDeleteThey're not easy to paint.
Yes, do it again. You'll love it... and so will we.
Lots of love from Viola.
