Purr Girl Rules

She nags. Once she's up in the morning, she's on your case. Just try to do email before breakfast -- you'll hear about it. But then, morning isn't the only time of day she nags. Just try walking into the kitchen -- she's there. Doesn't matter if the food is in her bowl or not. If you don't stay and watch her eat (or pretend to), she will let you know her displeasure in no uncertain terms.
She won't fetch. Every morning she sits on the side of the bed while I get dressed, waiting for me to open the sock drawer where I keep her toys. (They go in there at night because she will find them at 2 a.m. and run wild through the house tossing her mice and fish.) I throw one and she bolts after it like a cheetah. She tosses it around with abandon, then abandons it and comes back for another. The thrill is in the chase.
She still has bits of her inner alley cat -- if you rub her soft furry tummy (because it really is warm, like a mitten and it's cold here!), she will grab your wrist with her claws and gently put her teeth around the artery in your wrist, implying that if you don't gently remove it and fast, she'll claw the heck out of you or bite down and leave you in a pool of blood on the floor.
But she purrs like a motorboat and she's learned how to snuggle. And if anyone tried to take my sweet purr girl away from me, this silly black an white fur ball that makes me laugh -- well, they're not going to get very far.
Sweet Lizzie (and she is sweet) is here to stay. And nothing makes me happier.
(The last two photos were taken by my friend, Judy Winter)

Lizzie is a sweet beauty! Chase Bird does the same thing when he tires of us rubbing his tummy. His new thing is to climb on top of me in the early morning and stretch out on my stomach, staring into my face. :-)

How funny Jeanie, your morning routine sounds a bit like mine.

Jasper (my poodle) runs out back in the morning to take care of business, as I stand at the kitchen counter making coffee, he is watching me through the window. I know what he is thinking. Did you fix my breakfast yet? He runs back in the house a few time to check and see if it is, in fact, in his bowl. Nope, runs back out to finish.. He just makes me laugh.

Lizie is such a beautiful cat, and looks very loving.. I am sure she brings you love everyday.
blessings,
Penny

How sweet...your lovely Lizzie. Cats have a very strong personality.
I had to laugh about the toys and that she runs like a cheetah around the house during night, when her toys lie around.I suppose Emma would do the same if she were awake during night. She is sometimes awake during night but she can`t leave her bed...still.
Wonderful for you having such a good friend!!

Isn't it amazing how these pets of ours all have such different personalities? I love the description of what she would do if you let her play with her toys at night... sounds like Miz Lizzie has found her own way into your heart. So glad you have her around!

Oh Lizzie is a fun one and a beauty to boot....I love hearing about her antics; she sounds a lot like Simon...He will be fed first thing or there is no peace in the house...But we do love our fur balls don't we...

What a purr-fect companion you have in Miss Lizzie. She is a lucky girl to have found her home with you and from all you say about her she knows she she is home.

Very sweet! I have a giant cat, who actually does fetch... but only coiled pipecleaners. :)

Our kitties are a big, wonderful, part of our lives. I do miss having a cat on occassion, but 3 dogs keep me pretty occupied with their needs and wants. I am so glad that you and Lizzie have become so close.

Ah, Miss Lizze-C... we love ya too! "she purrs like a motorboat"... love that! (Our Charlie's purr is so loud that sometimes when you're one the phone, the person on the other end can hear him!) This ode to your sweet girl is so heart-warming, Jeanie... I could just cry... :o) Happy Days ((HUGS))

Sweet Lizzie. She's beautiful. I met my friend's new cat yesterday, Wiggles. He's gorgeous and huge. I've never seen a bigger cat. Enjoy your lovely Lizzie and your morning routine. Ha.

teeheee....she is precious as can be! Cats make me laugh; they all have this look about them that says.....well, teeheee....I won't say!!!!! But one day while we were walking, one jumped in front of us, got on its back and starting rolling around. It followed us for blocks and kept that behavior! He/she just wanted to play.

HAPPY FRIDAY! Anita

She is indeed a Sweet Lizzie and so glad you have her in your life. My Joey sits right on my laps at the computer in the morning until I feed him and yes, he also like for me to give him a pat and stand there and watch him eat. They do entertain. Joey says hi to Miss Lizzie - oh what fun they could have together.

Such wonderful photos, and funny descriptions. Dixie Rose will really crank it up in the middle of the night, too - although she's more given to just running in circles.

She lets me know when it's time for bed and time to get up, though. We live on her schedule around here. It's pathetic, in a way, but if I want to sleep 11-6 and she wants 10-5, well.... there's no real harm done. ;)

How sweet! I love cats but don't have one at the moment because we are away at work all day and it's not fare to leave cat alone all days - Hugs Nat

Oh I know how it is. I had a cat just like Lizzie, with exactly the same markings. I called her Makarios. Why? I do not know. She was my best friend at a time when I was very lonely and unhappy.

Dear little Mac, she too was a stray, abandoned in a building site as the runt of the litter. I bet she had a better life with me than any of her brothers and sisters.

Oh, sweet precious Lizzie. What a wonderful way you have with words as you describe the daily routine, life with a cat. I hope that we will have pets in our lives again soon.

Sweet, but assertive, Lizzie has certainly won your heart and let you know who is boss. She is so pretty. I love the photo of the two of you together. Cats are so different from dogs. Yet, they have similarities when it comes to getting their point across. Boston comes up to me and forces my hand with his nose to pet him while I am trying to relax.

Our pastor told a funny story in church last week. He said, "Cats say, 'She feeds me, she pets me, she meets my every need. I must be god.' Dogs say, 'she feeds me, she pets me, she meets my every need. She must be god.'" Loved it.
