Gyppy and Me

(First, a note -- I have a couple of book notes over on Chopsticks and String. And look for more over there, as I start a reading frenzy next week!)

Once my arm gets in that sling, I'm going to be Gypsy-challenged for a few weeks. He loves snuggling in my arms, and one of them will be off limits. Plus, it's hard to pick up a 13+ pound cat with only one arm!

So we've been doing a lot of snuggling -- I just love my Gyp!

Lately he's been fascinated by the plants -- Gyp of the Jungle!

True Gypsy story -- the night I got my hair cut, after going to bed, I was awakened by his little paws, pawing at my hair the way he does when he's snuggling. Then he started head-butting me, just pushing that little orange head into my curly one, hard -- as though he was trying to move it. Then back to the pawing and the purring. This went on for a bit -- till he started tugging on and eating my hair.

I don't know what my stylist used, but I've got to get some of that stuff -- it was like a free head massage!

A week or so ago I also made some terrific lemon blueberry bread -- it was a recipe from Mama K which called for "True Lemon." I didn't have any, so I used real lemon juice and added cranberries, too. Maybe she'll post the recipe! (I made mini-loaves, though the recipe is for one big one.)

I also made my Christmas Breakfast Casserole and thought I'd share it here -- it's easy and you make it the night before and just bake it off.

We have this every Christmas morning. It's wonderful with fruit (or fruit salad) and sweet rolls or coffee cake. Why have it only at Christmas -- or only at breakfast?

Christmas Breakfast Casserole

Cube six slices of bread in a greased casserole pan.

Cook 1 pound bulk breakfast sausage. Add to bread, making sure it's evenly distributed.

Make a custard of:

8 eggs
2 c. milk
1 t. dried mustard
1 c. cheese
salt and pepper
(And I also add fresh herbs if I have them. You could add mushrooms or onion as well)

Pour over meat/bread and refrigerate 12 hours or more.

Bake at 350 for 45-60 min. (45 works for me). Sit for about 5-10 minutes and serve.

Cats have good instincts. I bet Gypsy will take very good care of you.

Recipe looks yummy. I just sent it to my Yahoo address for safe keeping.

What a funny story about your hair! Maybe Gypsy wants to be a hair stylist?

He may already sense that something is in the air and be trying to comfort you.

I hope Gypsy takes good care of you when you're recovering from your surgery. I bet you're storing up a giant pile of books to read.

What a sweet little Gyp! Wish Saber was a snuggle kitty! That is funny about him trying to eat your hair. LOL Thanks for the recipe. Sounds yum.

Awwww, catnip hairspray? He's so sweet. Bella has been doing that lately too. Maybe it's the spring. She never head butted me before, then she lies on my body (when I'm lying down) and then rolls off onto her back on the bed! What's up wit dat? Too cute though. Gotta love em. Take care and keep your good mojo up! xo
